International Eye Science 2014;(6):1168-1170
AIM: To study the effectiveness of hyaluronidase periocular injection combined with α - lipoic acid and Chinese medicine in the treatment of diabetic vitreous hemorrhage.
METHODS: Retrospective analysis of 67 patientswith proliferative diabetic retinophathy ( PDR ) and vitreous hemorrhage, were divided into two groups: treatment group and control group. There were 32 cases in every group, the treatment group were giving hyaluronidase periocular injection combined with α - lipoic acid intravenously and with traditional Chinese medicine in promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, control group were only given Chinese medicine treatment in promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis.
RESULTS: Followed up 2-3mo, the total efficiency of treatment group ( 78%) was better than control group (57%), there was statistically significant difference ( P<0-05 ) . The efficiency of the two groups' patients with vitreous hemorrhage more than 2wk time was 22% and 25% respectively, there was no statistically significant difference in the two groups (P>0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Hyaluronidase periocular injection combined with α-lipoic acid and Chinese medicine in the treatment of PDR combined with vitreous hemorrhageis more effective than only use Chinese medicine. But it only has effect for the early, over 2wk, it has no significant effect.

To carry out pathologic diagnoses and whole-genome sequence analyses of the Jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus (JSRV) in Xinjiang, China, we first observed sheep suspected to have the JSRV. Then, the extracted virus suspension was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Total RNAs from lungs of JSRV-infected sheep were extracted and reverse-transcribed using a cDNA synthesis kit. Six pairs of primers were designed according to the exogenous reference virus strain (AF105220). Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was carried out from JSRV-infected tissue, and the whole genome of the JSRV sequenced. Our results showed: flow of nasal fluid ("wheelbarrow test"); different sizes of adenoma lesions in the lungs; papillary hyperplasia of alveolar epithelial cells; alveolar cavity filled with macrophages; dissolute nuclei in central lesions. TEM revealed JSRV particles with a diameter of 88 nm to 125. 4 nm. The full-length of the viral genome sequence was 7456 bp. BLAST analyses showed nucleotide homology of 96% and 95% compared with that of the representative strain from the USA (AF105220) and UK (AF357971). Nucleotide homology was 89.8% and 89.9% compared with the endogenous Jaagsiekte sheep retrovirus, Inner Mongolia strain (DQ838493) and USA strain (EF680300). The specific pathogenic amino-acid sequence "YXXM" was found in the TM district, similar to the exogenous JSRV: this gene has been reported to be oncogenic. This is the first report of the complete genomic sequence of the exogenous JSRV from Xinjiang, and could lay the foundation for study of the biological characteristics and pathogenic mechanisms of the pulmonary adenomatosis virus in sheep.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(7):719-720
To further explore the clinical effect of massage therapy on navel, the related ancient literatures were arranged and analyzed, and several methods in ancient clinical were introduced, including stroking navel, rubbing navel, pushing navel, tapping navel and puffing navel. In addition, the theoretical basis of massage therapy on navel were discussed. The results revealed ancient literatures offered abundant theoretical basis to modern clinical practice, and there were evidences of treating gastroenteric and gynecological diseases with this therapy. Comprehensively, through the study of ancient literatures and modern research, therapy of massage on navel is believed to be promising and will gain popularity in the future.

The swallowable camera-capsule,described in the aper, 11 mm in diameter and 30 mm in length , contains a CMOS image sensor, an optical system, a battery, a light source, a transmitter, a antenna and so on. The CMOS image sensor and its driving circuit can be miniaturized with MEMS technology. Image signal can be transmitted by analog or digital way. Image signal can be wirelessly transmitted through serial data interface. Finally, the processing technics of the capsule's crust is introduced.

OBJECTIVETo obtain the monoclonal antibody against hexon protein of human adenovirus.
METHODSBALB/c mice were immunized with purified recombinant hexon protein, and the spleen cells of the mice were isolated and fused with myloma cells. Four hybridoma cell strains were screened by indirect ELISA and cultured, and the sensitivity, specificity and virus neutralizing activity were analyzed with ELISA, Western blotting and neutralizing test.
RESULTSThe mouse ascites produced by these hybridoma cells contained specific monoclonal antibodies against hexon protein of human adenovirus as identified by ELISA and Western blot, and the antibody generated by 4C6 strain showed human adenovirus type 3-neutralizing activity.
CONCLUSIONThe monoclonal antibodies against hexon protein with high specificity have been successfully obtained, and these antibodies can be useful in developing assays for early diagnosis of HAdV3 infection and also in study of therapeutic drugs of the infection.

Chinese Journal of Traumatology 2004;7(4):229-232
OBJECTIVETo observe the dynamic changes of free iron contents and its relationship to the changes of lipid peroxidation after experimental spinal cord injury (SCI).
METHODSSprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: Group A (n=6) received no operation; Group B (n=48) received only laminectomy (sham); and Group C (n=48) received both laminectomy and traumatic injury (SCI model). The SCI animal models were made by using an modified Allen's weight-drop device (50 g.cm) on T(12). Rats were sacrificed at 0.5, 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 hours after injury. The levels of free iron involved in spinal cord segments at different time points were measured by bleomycin assay. The malondialdehyde (MDA) was also measured by the thiobarbituric acid (TBA).
RESULTSAfter SCI in Group C, the level of free iron showed a significant increase at 0.5 hour compared to Groups B and A, restored to the control level at 6 h; the level of MDA was increased at 0.5 hour, peaked at 3 hours, returned to the control level at 12 hours; the concentrations of free iron and lipid peroxidation in injured rats were significantly and positively correlated at 0.5-3 hours.
CONCLUSIONSAfter SCI the levels of free iron are increased quickly and might be a major contributor to lipid peroxidation in injured spinal cord.

Objective To work out the suitable iodine content in iodized salt among general population in Enshi Autonomous prefecture,Hubei province by determination of the iodine content in salt. Methods The method of direct titration was used to determine the iodine content in salt samples collected from residents in natural villages sampled from four directions of east, west, south and north in each township which was sampled from five directions of east, west, south, north and center in each city(county) in Enshi Autonomous prefecture, and salt samples were collected in Hubei Salt Industry Group Co.,Limited.Enshi Branch in 2011.The method of three-days weighing was used to estimate the resident's daily per capita intake of iodized salt. The appropriate iodine content for general population in salt was worked out according to the iodine content in salt from households and enterprises in Enshi Autonomous prefecture, the amount of iodine loss in iodized salt, the amount of per capita daily intake of iodized salt and the national iodine nutrition monitoring results. Results The median of iodine content in salt from residents and the production enterprises in 2011 was 33.5 mg/kg and 34.7 mg/kg,respectively.The residents' per capita salt intake was 10.9 g,actual intake of iodine wss 335.0 μg/d.Iodine content in iodized salt was 20 mg/kg ±30% for the general population, actual intake of iodine was 149.4-250.4 μg/d.Conclusions The residents iodine intake is higher in Enshi Autonomous prefecture.Considering the comprehensive factors, including food iodine, water iodine, and iodine cooking loss, that affect the intake of salt iodine, the appropriate iodine content in iodized salt is 20 mg/kg ± 30% for the general population.
