AlM:To observe the effects of double incision combined surgery of single - stab trabeculectomy and phacoemulsification.
METHODS: Totally 28 cases ( 30 eyes ) with glaucoma and cataract undertook the modified combined surgery of single - stab trabeculectomy and phacoemulsification. After traditional phacoemulsification, cut the bulbar conjunctiva and Tenons capsule from the 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock, then puncture into the anterior chamber in 2mm behind the corneal limbus with 3mm tunnel knife, shaping a 3mm wide, 1/3-1/4 thickness scleral tunnel. Getting into the trabecular tunnel, bite off 3 pieces of trabecular tissue about 1mm × 1mm size. The changes in the imtraocular pressure ( lOP ) and the visual acuity before and after the surgery as well as filtering bleb ( OCT confirmed) and complications were carefully observed in 3-6mo postoperatively.
RESULTS: The postoperative visual acuity in 1wk postoperatively less than 0. 1 was found in 3 eyes, from 0. 1 to 0. 3 was found in 6 eyes, from 0. 3 to 0. 6 in 13 eyes, from 0. 6 to 0. 8 in 8 eyes. One eye had malignant glaucoma, and 8 eyes had cornea edema and slightly fibrin exudation in the pupil area; ln all cases maintained function conjunctival blebs of filtering, OCT confirmed this. lOP remained normal in 28 eyes in 3-6mo follow up, lOP of 2 other eyes could be controlled by anti-glaucoma eye drops.
CONCLUSlON:Double incision combined surgery of single- stab trabeculectomy and phacoemulsification is effective and safe, reduces the postoperative complications and is worthy of promotion.

Abstract?AlM: To investigate the effect of zebularine ( Zeb ) loaded Poly ( ethylene glycol ) - block - poly ( ε -caprolactone) methyl ether ( MePEG-PCL) nanoparticles ( NPs) on the viability, attachment, and apoptosis of in vitro cultured lens epithelial cells ( LECs) .?METHODS: In vitro cultured infant human lens tissue HLE B-3 immortalized cells were distributed randomly divided into six groups. Each group was administered with free Zeb 50μmol/L ( ZebF1 group ) , 100μmol/L ( ZebF2 group) , Zeb -loaded MePEG-PCL NPs 50μmol/L ( ZebNP1 group) , Zeb -loaded MePEG-PCL NPs 100μmol/L ( ZebNP2 group) , MePEG-PCL empty NPs( NPs group) or blank medium (group C) respectively. A tetrazolium dye assay ( MTT) test and modified MTT test were performed to determine cell viability and cell attachment. DNA ladder was used to detect the cell apoptosis.?RESULTS: Determined by MTT colorimetric method:Cell proliferation rate of LECs were suppressed by all Zeb administration groups in a concentration-time dependent manner (P<0. 05). Compared with the free Zeb groups, the viability of LECs were suppressed more effectively by the same dose of Zeb loaded MePEG-PCL NPs after 24, 48, 96h ( P < 0. 05 ). Determined by improved MTT colorimetric method: The attachment of LECs were decreased in all Zeb administration groups, Zeb loaded MePEG-PCL NPs had better effect on suppressing the attachment of LECs than the free Zeb groups with same dose (P<0. 05). The DNA ladder confirmed that after administration of 96h, group C, NPs group and ZebF1 group showed no DNA fragment, however the DNA fragment were performed in ZebF2, ZebNP1, ZebNP2 groups and displays the trend of ZebNP2> ZebNP1>ZebF2 (P<0. 05).?CONCLUSlON: Zeb loaded MePEG-PCL NPs had better effect on suppressing the viability and attachment of in vitro cultured LECs than the free Zeb groups , as well as enhancing the apoptosis.

BACKGROUND:Foreign studies have found that the magnesium alloy stent is safe and effective, but there are few studies on the degradation performance of magnesium alloy stents in China.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the degradation of degradable AZ31 magnesium alloy stent in the rabbit abdominal aorta and the effect of degradation process on vascularization.METHODS:Twenty-eight rabbits were enrolled, and the degradable AZ31 magnesium alloy stent was implanted into the rabbit abdominal aorta. Postoperative abdominal aortic X-ray examination and histological observation were done at 30, 60, 90, 120 days after implantation.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) X-ray examination: 30 days after implantation, the stent expanded completely with structural integrity; 60 days after implantation, the stent deformation, partial stent fracture, and lose of support were found; 90 days after implantation, only a small amount of support rod residues were found, and the majority of the stent was degraded; and 120 days after implantation, there was no support rod residual, and the stent was degraded completely. (2) Histological observation: 60 days after implantation, the number of residual support rods was less than that 30 days after implantation (P< 0.05), the number value at 90 days after implantation was lower than that at 30 and 60 days after implantation (P< 0.05), and the number value at 120 days after implantation was lower than that at 30, 60, 90 days after implantation (P < 0.05), indicating that the number of residual support rods was negatively correlated with post-implantation days. The time for complete stent degradation was 124.8 days. The intimal area at 90 days after implantation was higher than that at 30, 60, 120 days after implantation (P < 0.05), while the lumen area was smaler than that at 30, 60, 120 days after implantation (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the intimal area and lumen area at latter three time points after implantation. To conclude, the degradation of the degradable AZ31 magnesium alloy stent in the rabbit abdominal aorta can be completed within 124.8 days, and at 90 days after the stent is implanted, vascular intimal hyperplasia and lumen stenosis are most serious, and then gradualy reduced.

Objective:Summarize and analyze the clinical features of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-related colitis. Methods:From January 2019 to September 2020, the clinical data of 8 patients with ICI-related colitis from Peking Union Medical College Hospital were retrospectively collected and including the onset of ICI-related colitis, clinical symptoms, endoscopic and pathological findings, treatment, comorbidities and resuming of ICI. Independent sample t test was used for statistical analysis. Results:Eight patients were all male, and the median age (range) was 66 years old (55 to 74 years old), 7 cases were diagnosed with stage Ⅳ lung cancer and 1 case was diagnosed with stage Ⅲc pyelo-carcinoma. Among 8 patients, 4 cases of ICI-related colitis occurred during combination of anti-programmed death-1 (PD-1) treatment and chemotherapy, 2 cases occurred during anti-PD-1 monotherapy after combination of anti-PD-1 treatment and chemotherapy, and 2 cases occurred after anti-PD-1 monotherapy. The median time (range) was 44 d (27 to 128 d) from initial anti-PD-1 treatment to the onset of ICI-related colitis and the median time (range) was 8 d (6 to 35 d) from last anti-PD-1 treatment to onset of ICI-related colitis. The ICI efficacy of 4 patients had partial response, 2 patients had stable disease, 1 patient had disease progression, and 1 patient′s condition was not assessed. All 8 patients had moderate to severe extensive colitis. The main clinical manifestation was diarrhea (5/8), 3 patients accompanied by abdominal pain. The endoscopic findings were diffuse mucosal erosion, accompanied by ulcer in 2 patients. The main pathologic findings were cryptitis or crypt abscess, accompanied by apoptosis in 2 patients. Eight patients were all treated with glucocorticoids, among them 2 patients were further treated with biologics, due to the insufficient efficacy of glucocorticoid treatment, 4 patients had opportunistic infections. The initial prednisone dose for patients with opportunistic infections and patients without opportunistic infections was (85.00±52.60) and (60.00±23.09) mg, respectively. The prednisone treatment course was (8.75±4.03) and (7.50±3.11) weeks, respectively, and the differences were not statistically significant (both P>0.05). The colitis relapsed in all 3 patients after resuming of ICI. Conclusions:ICI-related colitis had corresponding ICI treatment history and clinical, endoscopic, and histopathological features. Glucocorticoid is the main treatment, and it is prone to relapse after resuming of ICI.

BackgroundThe influence of glaucoma on the quality of life in patients is of increasing concern for ophthalmologists in recent years. However, some studies demonstrated that different types of questionnaires about quality of life have various disadvantages. Therefore, to accurately and fully assess the influencing factors of quality of life in glaucoma patients is very important. ObjectiveThe present study was to survey the self-reported visionrelated quality of life(QOL) in glaucoma patients by means of utility analysis and to tentatively analyze its influencing factors. Methods Patients with glaucoma were recruited from a single tertiary ophthalmic department. Standard face-to-face interviews were conducted. Utility values of linear rating scale ( RS ) and time trade-off ( TTO ) were calculated to evaluate the self-reported vision-related QOL of the patients. The correlations of the utility values with the patients' general and ophthalmologic characteristics were also analyzed. This survey was approved by the Ethic Committee of Beijing Tongren Hospital. Oral informed consent was obtained from the subjects before the study.ResultsA cross-sectional study was designed. A total of 86 glaucoma patients were enrolled in this study with 62 male and 24 female, with a mean age of 44. 67 years old. The mean utility values measured by RS and TTO were 0. 62± 0. 19 and 0. 77 ± 0. 12, respectively, and no evidential correlation was found between these two values ( r =0. 074, P=0. 499 ). The RS value was associated with daily visual acuity, mean deviation(MD) of visual field and the history of trabeculectomy. Neither daily visual acuity nor MD showed a significant correlation with the TTO value. Age, work status and educational background contributed to higher utility value for the TTO method. After adjusting for age, work status and educational level, patients with visual acuity in the worse-seeing eye better than 0. 3 showed a higher TTO value than those with less than 0. 3. Conclusions Utility analysis possesses the advantages of convenience and sensitivity. RS utility value is easily affected by the Objective visual status and surgery history in glaucomatous patients, which reflects the subjective assessment of patients'visual quality. However, TTO value is primarily associated with age, work status and education level rather than visual function in glaucoma patients, which is therefore subjective assessment of the disease-related quality of life. These Results indicate that visual function impairment is not a determining factor for the QOL of glaucoma patients.

We analyzed the genetic characteristics of coxsackievirus A4 (CV-A4) based on the entire VP1 coding region. Samples were isolated from patients with acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) in Shaanxi, China from 2006 to 2010. We wished to ascertain the predominant genotype and the relationship between CV-A4 infection and AFP. Sixty-eight non-polio enteroviruses were inoculated onto RD cells (to increase the virus titer) and molecular typing was undertaken. The entire VP1 coding region was amplified. Percentage of CV-A4 was 10.3% (7/68). Analyses of genetic identify and creation of phylogenetic trees revealed that CV-A4 could be classified into A, B and C genotypes. Seven CV-A4 strains from Shaanxi and other CV-A4 strains from China formed an independent evolution lineage located in group 4 and belonged to the C2 sub-genotype. These data suggested that CV-A4 strains of sub-genotype C2 were the predominant genotypes in China. These strains co-evolved and co-circulated with those from other provinces in China, so continued monitoring of CV-A4 (by clinical and genetic surveillance) should be enhanced.
