To explore the protective effect of Angelica sinensis polysaccharides(ASP) on subacute renal damages induced by D-galactose in mice and its mechanism. Male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 3 groups, with 10 mice in each group. The D-galactose model group was subcutaneously injected with D-galactose (120 mg x kg(-1)), qd x 42; the ASP + D-galactose model group was intraperitoneally injected with ASP since the 8th day of the replication of the D-galactose model, qd x 35; and the normal control group was subcutaneously injected with saline at the same dose and time. On the 2nd day of after the injection, the peripheral blood was collected to measure the content of BUN, Crea, UA, Cys-C; paraffin sections were made to observe the renal histomorphology by HE staining; senescence-associated β-g-alactosidase (SA-β-Gal) stain was used to observe the relative optical density (ROD) in renal tissues; transmission electron microscopy was assayed to observe the renal ultrastructure; the renal tissue homogenate was prepared to measure the content of SOD, GSH-PX, MDA; the content of AGEs and 8-OH-dG were measured by ELISA. According to the result, compared with the D-galactose model group, the ASP + D-galactose model group showed obviously decreases in the content of BUN, Crea, UA, Cysc, AGES, 8-OH-dG, the number of hardening renal corpuscle, renal capsular space and renal tubular lumen, ROD of SA-β-Gal staining positive kidney cells, mesangial cells, basement membrane thickness, podocyte secondary processes fusion and MDA and increases in the number of normal renal corpuscle, ribosome and rough endoplasmic reticulum in podocytes, the activity of SOD and GSH-PX. In Conclusion, A. sinensis polysaccharides can antagonize kidney subacute damages induced by D-galactose in mice. Its protective mechanism may be correlated with the inhibition of the oxidative stress injury.

National Journal of Andrology 2010;16(9):826-829
OBJECTIVETo assess whether intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI) of testicular sperm improves the clinical outcome in patients with azoospermia.
METHODSWe performed conventional intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) for 66 patients diagnosed with azoospermia and IMSI for another 39 using testicular sperm selected at high magnification ( x 6000), and comparatively analyzed the clinical outcomes of the two techniques.
RESULTSThere were no statistically significant differences between conventional ICSI and IMSI in the rates of pregnancy (51.52% vs. 56.41%) and implantation (30.67% vs. 35.29%), although the rate of early abortion was lower in the IMSI than in the ICSI group (4.50% vs. 11.76%).
CONCLUSIONIMSI of testicular sperm may effect a lower rate of early abortion than conventional ICSI in patients with azoospermia.

OBJECTIVETo study whether effect of aspirin plus low-dose diethylstilbestrol is more effective and safer than high diethylstilbestrol dose alone on prevention of ovariectomy-induced osteopenia and dyslipidemia.
METHODSThirty-eight 4-month-old female SD rats were divided into baseline (BAS) group (n=6), sham operation group (n=8) and ovariectomy (OVX) group (n=24). The OVX group was further divided into vehicle treatment group (n=8), diethylstilbestrol (30 μg/kg•d) treatment group (OVX+D30 group, n=8), and aspirin (9 mg/kg•d) plus diethylstilbestrol (10 μg/kg•d) treatment group (OVX+A-D10 group, n=8). Their left tibiae were collected for the bone histomorphometric analysis in undecalcified sections. Left femurs were collected for the bone mineral density measurement.
RESULTSThe body weight and serum cholesterol were increased, while uterine weight and cancellous bone mass were decreased in OVX rats compared with the SHAM group. Cancellous bone mass was significantly increased, while body weight and bone resorption parameters were decreased in both A-D10 and D30 treatment group compared with OVX group. The rats treated with A-D10 showed significantly increased in bone formation parameters and decreased in serum triglyceride compared with the D30-treated rats.
CONCLUSIONAspirin plus low-dose diethylstilbestrol can effectively prevent osteopenia by reducing bone resorption, and is thus a better treatment modality for preventing dyslipidemia than high-dose diethylstilbestrol alone.

Chinese Journal of Zoonoses 2018;34(3):276-281
Helminth infection can lead to organic, digestive and other tissue's pathological damage.Helminth diseases are harmful to human and animal health, and can cause reproductive failure, inhibits the growth and development of juvenile ani-mals,even lead to death of humans and animals in serious cases, and poses significant impacts on public health and causes eco-nomic losses to the animal husbandry.Currently, the prevention and control of helminth disease is largely dependent on inte-grated control measures including the use of drugs.Due to drug residues, drug resistance, and other issues, the development of new drugs and vaccines is imminent. So far, there is few ideal vaccines to control helminth diseases, which is due to that hel-minths have evolved mechanisms to evade host immune attacks during evolution, such as immune isolation, antigen variation, molecular simulation and so on.Therefore, this review describes the recent research advances in the immune evasion strategies of parasitic helminth, which aims to provide a reference for the development of new vaccines or drugs for better prevention and control of helminth diseases.

AIM:To elucidate the association between chronic kidney injury and interleukin-33 (IL-33;an alarmin)/suppression of tumorigencity 2 (ST2) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).METHODS:Serum levels of IL-33 and soluble ST2 (sST2) were assessed by ELISA in 50 SLE patients and 30 healthy controls (HC).RESULTS:The levels of IL-33 and sST2,and IL-33/sST2 ratio were significantly higher in SLE patients than those in the HC.The IL-33 and sST2 levels were positively associated with SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI),erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR),proteinuria and triglyceride, but negatively associated with complement C3.IL-33/sST2 ratio was positively associated with SLEDAI and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).Independent explanatory variables associated with high IL-33/sST2 included chronic kidney disease (CKD) staging and albumin (R2 =0.442),especially CKD staging.CONCLUSION:Elevated serum sST2 and IL-33 levels in SLE patients are correlated with disease activity and risk factors of kidney injury.IL-33/sST2 ratio may serve as a potential biomarker for chronic kidney injury in SLE patients.
