Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2007;31(1):1-4
Image-guided neurosurgery is playing a more and more important role in modern neurosurgical therapy. The current trend is to construct an open platform for image-guided neurosurgery, to make applied researches of various new therapeutic techniques, and finally to integrate them into the clinical image-guided neurosurgery system.

Objective To observe the effects of radiation on the growth and expression of cysteine-rich 61(Cyr61/CCN1) of L929 cells and investigate the relationship between CCN1 expression and radiation injury. Methods L929 cells were cultured and divided into 2 groups, cells irradiated with 4 Gy ?-irradiation as radio-group and untreated cells as control group. The cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay and plate colony formation testing.Flow cytometry was utilized to quantify the cell cycle distribution.CCN1 expression at protein and mRNA levels were determined by immunocytochemistry(ICC) and RT-PCR respectively. Results Significant inhibition of proliferation(P

OBJECTIVETo acquire teeth and prosthetic conditions of the elderly.
METHODS1166 patients of over 60 years old had been given prosthetic treatment, and the teeth conditions were analyzed.
RESULTSThe average number of missing teeth was 10.25. The maxillary missing teeth were more than mandibular ones. The rate of missing teeth were as follows: maxillary teeth > mandibular teeth; molars > bicuspids > incisors > cuspid. 1120 cases were treated with removable dentures. 59% of the removable partial dentures had free-end saddles. 46 cases were treated with fixed bridges.
CONCLUSIONThe characteristics of prosthetic patients in the elderly were as follows: a large number of missing teeth and free-end missing teeth, attrition of resident teeth, food impaction, existing-residual root and loosen teeth. Removable denture was the main method of the prosthetic therapy for the elderly patients. Fixed bridge was used when the patient condition was good. The cuspid, treated residual root and the third molar should be used for the retention and support of the prosthesis.

Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of domestic oseltamivir in patients with influenza. Methods A randomized, single-blinded, controlled clinical trial was performed.Patients in the study group received domestic oseltamivir, while the patients in control group received foreign oseltamivir. The doses were both 75 mg every time, twice a day. The treatment durations in both groups were 5 days. Chi square test was performed to compare baseline characteristics and the difference of side effects. Paired t test was used to compare the efficacy. Results Two hundred and nine patients were enrolled in this study (98 cases in study group. 111 cases in control group). The trend in body temperature change was similar in the two groups (t = 0. 061, P>0. 05). The score of symptom severity decreased more quickly in patients treated with foreign oseltamivir compared to those treated with domestic oseltamivir during the period from 24 h to 48 h. However, the difference between the two groups diminished gradually and was not statistically significant at 72 h (t=0. 875,P>0. 05). The safety of the domestic and foreign oseltamivir were comparable(X2 = 0. 197,P>0. 05). Conclusion The domestic oseltamivir is as effective and safe as the foreign oseltamivir.

Chinese Medical Journal 2010;123(23):3422-3426
BACKGROUNDSuperficial bladder cancer accounts for 60% - 70% of all bladder cancer cases in China, when treatment consists of only transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TUR-BT), recurrence and progresses in the bladder are observed in some patients. There are numerous reports of trials of intravesical instillation of anticancer agents with the objective of lowering this recurrence rate. The aim of this study was to compare the prophylactic efficacy and safety of epirubicin (EPI), pirarubicin (THP) and hydroxycamptothecin (HCPT) in superficial bladder cancer.
METHODSThis study enrolled a total of 189 patients who had been diagnosed with superficial bladder cancer during the period from 2004 through 2007 at Beijing Friendship Hospital. All patients were randomly allocated to one of three treatment groups. Patients in group A received 29 doses of EPI 30 mg/30 ml, patients in group B received 29 doses of THP 30 mg/30 ml, and patients in group C received 29 doses of HCPT 30 mg/30 ml, over a period of 24 months.
RESULTSThe recurrence-free rate in the 2 anthracycline treatment groups (A and B) were significantly better than that of the HCPT treatment group. In the safety evaluation, the incidences of pollakiuria, pain on urination, dysuria, hematuria, and contracted bladder were not significantly different between groups A and B, but some were significantly higher in groups A and B than that in group C.
CONCLUSIONThe efficacy of EPI and THP was significantly better than HCPT in the prevention of bladder cancer recurrence.

0.05).Conclusion GH improves FAH of children with GHD.Height at the initiation of puberty is the most significant determining factor for the long-term efficacy.Hence,it is important that the diagnosis should be made and treatment be initiated as early as possible to afford children with GHD the opportunity to make up much of their height deficit before puberty.Adequate dosage of GH should be used for the children taking initial treatment at puberty to attain satisfactory FAH.

OBJECTIVETo explore whether fractional anisotropy (FA) value could be taken as a quantitative indicator for tracing and reexamining amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and to analyze the correlation between FA value and integrative medical treatment.
METHODSTotally 18 ALS patients were recruited in this study. All patients received diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) using 3. OT (Propeller HD) MRI twice. Six regions of interest (ROI) were selected to measure FA values. Survival analyses were performed in 11 cases of end point events.
RESULTS(1) Three ROI (cerebral peduncle, posterior limb of internal capsule, and corona radiata) all indicated that FA value was the highest in patients with mild health status scale of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS/HSS). (2) There was statistical difference in the means of FA values in cerebral peduncle, posterior limb of internal capsule, and corona radiata of 18 cases between initial examination and reexamination (P < 0.01). (3) Kaplan-Meier survival curve showed the survival rate of ALS patients decreased as time went by, with the median survival time of 48 months.
CONCLUSIONSFA value was inversely proportional to the severity of ALS, the more severe, the lower FA values. FA value was an objective indicator for assessing the severity of ALS. ALS is an incurable disease till now. Integrative medical treatment might become one direction for ALS patients.
