Korean Journal of Community Nutrition 2007;12(1):3-12
This study was performed to investigate the body image perception by BMI and the dietary behaviors in 803 college students (408 males and 395 females). The degree of obesity was divided into an underweight group with BMI less than 18.5 kg/m(2), a normal group with BMI of 18.5~22.9 kg/m(2), an overweight group with BMI of 23~24.9 kg/m(2) and an obese group with BMI over 25.0 kg/m(2). The average ages of subjects were 22.9 years in males and 20.2 years in females. The average weight and height of male subjects were 175.3 cm and 69.6 kg, respectively and those of female subjects were 162.5 cm and 52.0 kg, respectively. The average BMIs of male and female subjects were 22.6 kg/m(2) and 19.7 kg/m(2), respectively. The distribution of subjects who perceived their current body image as ideal body image was 25.7% in males and 10.9% in females, showing that the body image satisfaction of male subjects was 1.5 times higher than that of female subjects. Body image perception for their own bodies was mostly shown as the average or standard shape both in males and females with 64.2% and 54.2%, respectively, but males showed a higher perception rate than females and 31.1% of females and 19.5% of males perceived their bodies as lean shape (p < 0.01). The body image satisfaction was 4.20 in males and 3.70 in females, showing more satisfaction in the male subjects (p < 0.001). The correlation between body image and physical variables in male subjects indicated that CBI and IBI showed statistically significant correlation and also BMI showed statistically significant correlation with IBI (p < 0.001) and CBI (p < 0.001). The frequency of eating out increased as the frequency of skipping meals increased (p<0.001) and the frequency of having snacks increased as the frequency of eating out increased (p < 0.01). The correlation between body image and physical variables in female subjects showed that CBI and IBI (p < 0.001) had statistically significant correlation. Body weight showed statistically significant correlation with CBI (p < 0.001), BMI (p < 0.001) and height (p < 0.001). The frequency of eating out increased as height (p < 0.01) and the frequency of skipping meals (p < 0.001) increased. When both male and female subjects wanted leaner body shapes, they preferred much leaner shapes despite their current body images belonging in the normal range. Additionally subjects preferred the body image in the normal range in cases when their current body images were lean. In particular, more female subjects had strong desires to become leaner in their body images than male subjects, which could be analyzed as a risk factor for physical harm. From the above results, it is considered that both male and female subjects need to establish proper recognition and dietary behaviors for their body images and also need nutritional education and counseling for desirable weight control methods.

Cystic masses of the adrenal gland are unusual in the fetus and most are secondary to hemorrhage. Cysticneuroblastoma is extremely rare, and in contrast to solid neuroblastoma, follows a benign course, is diagnosedearlier, and rarely presents with metastatic lesions(1-4). We report one case of cystic neuroblastoma diagnosedprenatally by ultrasound(US) and magnetic resonance(MR) imaging, and include a review of the literature.

Interchromosomal insertion of Y chromosome heterochromatin in an autosome was identified in a fetus and a family. A fetal karyotype was analyzed as 46,XX,dup(7)(?q22q21.1) in a referred amniocentesis at 16 weeks of gestation for advanced maternal age. In the familial karyotype analyses for identification of der(7), the mother, the first daughter and the maternal grandmother showed the same der(7) as the fetus's. CBG-banding was positive at 7q22 region of der(7) that indicated inserted material was originated from heterochromatin. The origin of heterochromatic insertion region in der(7) of the fetus and the mother was found in Yq12 region by fluorescent in situ hybridization with a DYZ1 probe. In the specific analysis of Y chromosomal heterochromatic region of ins(7;Y) of the mother, 15 sequence tagged sites from Yp11.3 region including SRY to Yq11.223 region was not detected. Final karyotypes of the mother, the first daughter and the maternal grandmother were reported as 46,XX,der(7)ins(7;Y)(q21.3;q12q12). All female carriers of ins(7;Y) in the family showed normal phenotype and the mother and the maternal grandmother were fertile. A healthy girl was born at term. We report a rare case of familial interchromosomal insertion of Y chromosome heterochromatin detected only in female family members with normal phenotype that was diagnosed prenatally.

Cancer Research and Treatment 2008;40(2):75-80
PURPOSE: A 25% rate of recurrence after performing complete resection in node-negative colon cancer patients suggests that their nodal staging is frequently suboptimal. Moreover, the value of occult cancer cells in tumor-free lymph nodes still remains uncertain. The authors evaluated the prognostic significance of the pathologic parameters, including the lymph node occult disease (micrometastases) detected by immunohistochemistry, in patients with node-negative colon cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 160 patients with curatively resected stage I or II colon cancer and they were without rectal cancer. 2852 lymph nodes were re-examined by re-do hematoxylin and eosin (H-E) staining and immunohistochemical staining. The detection rates were compared with the clinicopathologic characteristics and with the cancer-specific survival. RESULTS: Occult metastases were detected in 8 patients (5%). However, no clinicopathologic parameter was found to be correlated with the presence of micrometastasis. Twenty patients developed recurrence at a median follow-up of 45.7 months: 14 died of colon cancer and 9 died from noncancer-related causes. Univariate analysis showed that lymphatic invasion and the number of retrieved lymph nodes significantly influenced survival, and multivariate analysis revealed that the stage, the number of retrieved lymph nodes and lymphatic invasion were independently related to the prognosis. CONCLUSIONS: Inadequate lymph node retrieval and lymphatic invasion were found to be associated with a poorer outcome for node-negative colon cancer patients. The presence of immunostained tumors cells in pN0 lymph nodes was found to have no significant effect on survival, but these tumor were identified by re-do H-E staining. Maximal attention should be paid to the total number of lymph nodes that are retrieved during surgery for colon cancer patients.

Journal of Korean Neuropsychiatric Association 1999;38(1):64-76
OBJECTIVES: We examined the degree of social anxiety and physical symptoms, situations, maneuvers in phobic situations, the degree of offending others, disability in normal Korean sample. And We also studied the correlations of social anxiety and socio-cultural factors(personality characteristics, child rearing attitudes and interpersonal attitudes). METHODS: The subjects were total of 1087 including junior high school students, high school students, college students and adult population living in Seoul. We administered the following scales: SAD (Social Avoidance and Distress Scale), Social Anxiety Symptom and Situation, Maneuvers in Phobic situations, Offending others, SDS(Sheehan's Disability Scale), EPQ(Eysenck Personality Questionnaire), Child Rearing Scale and Interpersonal Attitude Scale. RESULTS: Among social phobic symptoms, fear of eye to eye contact, fear of mistake, fear of facial expression, fear of side glancing and fear of other's gazing were prevalent in decreasing order. The level of general social anxiety were high in junior high school and high school students, and male subjects reported more social anxiety. The degree of offending others decreased with age. The most difficult social anxiety situations were public speaking and interviewing. The frequently used maneuver in phobic situations was reasoning. All subjects perceived themselves more introverted than others did. On the child rearing attitudes, rejection, high expectation, anxious, control subscales of both parent were correlated with high level of social anxiety, and the emotional care was correlated with low level of social anxiety. On the interpersonal attitudes, self-devaluation, indirectedness, overconcern of other's opinion, face-saving subscales were positively correlated with social anxiety, and the socialization and eungseok were negatively correlated with social anxiety. CONCLUSION: The social anxiety and the introversion were associated with the disability of daily activity. Some subscales of child rearing attitudes and interpersonal attitudes were also associated with the social anxiety.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2007;48(4):499-505
PURPOSE: To compare the influences on the cornea between the WhiteStar mode and the continuous mode in the Sovereign(R) phacoemulsification unit after cataract surgery using temporal clear corneal incisions. METHODS: This study comprised 46 eyes of 23 patients who had cataracts in both eyes with similar grades of nucleosclerosis. The WhiteStar mode was used in one eye, and the continuous mode was used in the other eye. Pachymetry at the corneal center and 2 mm from the temporal limbus was performed. Topography and specular microscopy were performed, and surgically induced astigmatism was calculated using the Holladay-Cravy-Koch formula by simulated keratometric readings of Humphrey topography. Effective phaco time and average phaco power were recorded. RESULTS: Changes of corneal thickness at the center of the eye and at the incision site were significantly lower in the WhiteStar mode than in the continuous mode at 1 month postoperatively. However, there was no significant difference in corneal thickness at either site and in other parameters measured at 2 months postoperatively. The effective phaco time in the WhiteStar mode was significantly lower than in the continuous mode for cataracts with a high grade of nucleosclerosis. CONCLUSIONS: The early postoperative corneal edema in the WhiteStar mode was less than in the continuous mode. However, there was no remarkable difference in corneal endothelial damage. The effectiveness of phacoemulsification in the WhiteStar mode was superior to that in the continuous mode, especially for dense cataracts.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2005;46(3):472-479
PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy of two excimer laser systems with eye-tracker in the term of decentration amount. METHODS: We performed LASIK with LaserScan LSX(TM) (group 1, 39 eyes) and Allegretto Wave(TM) (group 2, 94 eyes), both of which were equipped with eye-tracker. The amount of decentration was measured on a difference map that was obtained from preoperative and postoperative corneal topography, and was compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The amount of decentration was significantly higher in group 1 (0.39 +/- 0.22 mm) than in group 2 (0.29 +/- 0.18 mm) (p=0.018). When these groups were subdivided by preoperative spherical equivalent, in case of under -6.0 D, the amount of decentration between the two groups (0.31 +/- 0.16 mm in group 1, 0.28 +/- 0.15 mm in group 2, p=0.380), whereas in case of over -6.0 D, the amount of decentration was significantly higher in group 1 (0.48 +/- 0.26 mm) than in group 2 (0.30 +/- 0.21 mm) (p=0.020). CONCLUSIONS: Allegretto Wave(TM) showed better centration ability than LaserScan LSX(TM) and this superiority was more profound in highly myopic eyes.

Investigative Magnetic Resonance Imaging 2019;23(3):228-240
PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to evaluate the T2 value of the articular cartilage of the glenohumeral joint in rotator cuff disease displayed on 3.0T MRI and to apply it in clinical practice. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study involved sixty-two patients who underwent shoulder MRI containing T2 mapping. The mean T2 value was measured by placing a free hand ROI over the glenoid or humeral cartilage from the bone-cartilage interface to the articular surface on three consecutive, oblique coronal images. The drawn ROI was subsequently divided into superior and inferior segments. The assessed mean T2 values of the articular cartilage of the glenohumeral joint were compared and evaluated based on the degree of rotator cuff tear, the degree of fatty atrophy of the rotator cuff, and the acromiohumeral distance. RESULTS: ICC values between two readers indicated moderate or good reproducibility. The mean T2 value for the articular cartilage of the glenoid and humeral head cartilage failed to show any significant difference based on the degree of rotator cuff tear. However, the mean T2 values of articular cartilage, based on fatty atrophy, tended to be higher in fatty atrophy 3 or fatty atrophy 4 groups while some sub-regions displayed significantly higher mean T2 values. There was no correlation between the acromiohumeral distance and the mean T2 values of the articular cartilage of the glenoid and humeral head. CONCLUSION: T2 mapping of the glenohumeral joint failed to show any significant difference in quantitative analysis of the degenerative change of the articular cartilage based on the degree of rotator cuff tear. However, it also offers quantitative information on the degenerative change of cartilage of the glenohumeral joint in patients with rotator cuff tear and severe fatty atrophy of the rotator cuff.

Yonsei Medical Journal 2022;63(10):966-970
The global coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic spurred an urgent need for vaccination and herd immunity. Recently, mRNA vaccines for COVID-19 have been used widely despite reports of several adverse events. Most adverse effects are mild, although a few are associated with neurological complications. Unfortunately, there is a scarcity of information on peripheral nerve complications after COVID-19 mRNA vaccination. We report the case of an immunocompetent young male patient who suffered from ipsilateral wrist drop with multiple lymphadenopathy in the cervical and axillary region after Pfizer–BioNTech vaccination. He experienced unilateral wrist drop, which significantly improved with corticosteroid treatment. Based on knowledge of this adverse effect, careful surveillance and increased awareness are needed for early diagnosis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case in the English literature of radial neuropathy resulting in wrist drop in a recently vaccinated and young immunocompetent patient.
