Abstract:
Occupational epidemiology aims to explore the effect of occupational hazards on the health of workers and understand
,
their mechanisms. It plays an important role in occupational health and occupational medicine.Currently occupational
, ,
exposures in the workplace are complex and diverse and multiple factors affect workers´ health at the same time. Therefore it
is important to elucidate the pathogenesis of occupational disease caused by occupational hazards and implement early
- -
intervention. System epidemiology collects data on multi level exposure and multi omics information to conduct network analysis
-
on the relationship amongrisk factors. and to study the mechanisms of exposures and health outcomes based on multi level data.
, , , ,
Using the study design of system epidemiology occupational environmental lifestyle and social factors are combined as a
,
system to evaluate the health of workers which can better evaluate the adverse health effects caused by occupational hazards.
- , ,
The studies base on multi omics design will explore the pathogenesis of occupational diseases at the molecular cellular and
tissue levels to evaluate the impact of occupational hazards on workers´ health and to explore interventions from multiple
-
perspectives to reduce the occurrence of occupational or work related diseases.

Chinese Journal of Hepatology 2012;20(11):811-816
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effects of antiviral nucleotide/nucleoside analogues (NUCs) and interferon (IFN) on liver fibrosis and progression to cirrhosis in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.
METHODSThe literature databases of PubMed (1966 to 2011), Embase (1966 to 2011), Wanfang database (1998 to 2011), Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI; 1997 to 2010), and Chinese Biomedical (CBMdisc; 1860 to 2011) were searched for studies that met the following criteria: (1) case-control phase III clinical trails that used only one kind of antiviral drug (NUCs or IFN), with the controls receiving placebo or no treatment; (2) analysis of biopsy specimens collected before and after treatment for both the cases and controls; (3) assessment of fibrosis as an outcome measure of the treatment's effect. The data from all 11 studies included in the meta-analysis were extracted and analyzed by the RevMan5.1 software.
RESULTSNUC treatment significantly regressed liver fibrosis, as compared with placebo treatment (33.7% vs. 19.2%, relative risk (RR): 1.82, 95% confidence interval (CI): [1.47, 2.25], P less than 0.01). NUC treatment significantly reduced the progression of fibrosis, as compared with placebo treatment (9.1% vs. 24.8%, RR: 0.33, 95% CI: [0.19, 0.58], P less than 0.01). IFN treatment significantly reduced progression of fibrosis, as compared with no treatment (23.8% vs. 30.7%, RR: 0.48, 95% CI: [0.34, 0.69], P less than 0.01). IFN significantly reduced progression to cirrhosis, as compared with no treatment (10.6% vs. 18.0%, RR: 0.62, 95% CI: [0.44, 0.88], P less than 0.01).
CONCLUSIONOne year of NUC treatment could partly regress liver fibrosis and partly reduce the progression of fibrosis, while one year of IFN treatment could reduce the progression of fibrosis and cirrhosis.

Objective:To investigate the influencing factors for early recurrence after curative pancreaticoduodenectomy of pancreatic head cancer. Methods:The retrospective case-control study was conducted. The clinicopathological data of 104 patients with pancreatic head cancer who underwent radical resection in Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center from May 2014 to May 2015 were collected. There were 62 males and 42 females, aged (61±10)years. Patients underwent carative pancreaticoduodenectomy. Observation indicators: (1) surgical situations; (2) follow-up; (3) influencing factors for early recurrence after curative pancreaticoduodenectomy of pancreatic head cancer. Follow-up was conducted using telephone interview to detect recurrence of patients up to postoperative 1 year. Measurement data with normal distribution were represented as Mean±SD. Count data were described as absolutes numbers, and comparison between groups was analyzed using the chi-square test. Multivariate analysis was analyzed using the Logistic regression model. Results:(1) Surgical situations: 104 patients underwent curative pancreaticoduodenec-tomy successfully. The volume of intraoperative blood loss was (474±280)mL and the number of lymph node dissection was 21±10. (2) Follow-up: 104 patients received postoperative follow-up, 44 of whom had early recurrence. Of the 44 patients with early recurrence, 42 cases had intraperitoneal recurrence including 23 cases with liver metastasis, 7 cases with metastasis in surgical site, 7 cases with retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis, 5 cases with omentum metastasis, 2 cases had extraperitoneal recurrence including 1 case with pleural metastasis and 1 case with pulmonary metastasis. (3) Influencing factors for early recurrence after curative pancreaticoduodenectomy of pancreatic head cancer: results of univariate analysis showed levels of preoperative CA19-9, levels of postoperative CA19-9, the number of lymph node dissection were related factors for early recurrence after curative pancreaticoduodenectomy of pancreatic head cancer ( χ2=5.833, 9.276, 4.261, P<0.05). Results of multivariate analysis showed that postoperative CA19-9 >37 U/mL was an independent risk factor for early recurrence after curative pancreaticoduodenectomy of pancreatic head cancer ( odd ratio=3.599,95% confidence interval as 1.551-8.347, P<0.05). Conclusion:Postoperative CA19-9>37 U/mL is an independent risk factor for early recurrence after curative pancreaticoduodenectomy of pancreatic head cancer.

Objective: To observe the therapeutic efficacy of acupoint application at different groups of acupoints in treating bronchial asthma in remission stage. Methods:A total of 120 patients with bronchial asthma in remission stage were recruited and divided by the random number table method into acupoint application group 1, acupoint application group 2 and acupoint application group 3, with 40 cases in each group. In all the three groups, Tiantu (CV 22), Dazhui (GV 14) and Feishu (BL 13) were selected, with Dingchuan (EX-B 1) added in acupoint application group 1, Shenshu (BL 23) added in acupoint application group 2, and Gaohuang (BL 43) added in acupoint application group 3. Before intervention, one month and 3 months after intervention, clinical symptoms, peak expiratory flow (PEF) andforced expiratory volume in 1 second percentage of predicted value (FEV1%) of the three groups were observed, and their clinical efficacies were evaluated. Results: Comparing the therapeutic efficacy regarding traditional Chinese medicine symptoms and signs, after 1-month treatment, the total effective rate was 87.5% in acupoint application group 1, versus 62.5% in acupoint application group 2 and 55.0% in acupoint application group 3, and the between-group differences were statistically significant. After 3-month treatment, the total effective rate was 95.0% in acupoint application group 1, versus 70.0% in acupoint application group 2 and 65.0% in acupoint application group 3, and the between-group differences were statistically significant. After intervention, the three groups all showed significant improvements in pulmonary function with statistical significance; among the three groups, the improvement in acupoint application group 1 was more significant than that in the other two groups. Conclusion: Tiantu (CV 22), Dazhui (GV 14) and Feishu (BL 13) as basic prescription plus Dingchuan (EX-B 1) can improve symptoms of bronchial asthma in remission stage, and it works better in improving pulmonary function than the basic prescription plus Shenshu (BL 23) or Gaohuang (BL 43).

Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2002;18(3):306-309
AIMTo investigate membrane electro-physiological features in vestibular ganglion neuronal population using a voltage-sensitive dye and optical recording technique.
METHODSDissociated and cultured mouse vestibular ganglion neurons were stained with an absorption voltage-sensitive dye, RH 155, and were imaged in 16 x 16 elements Photodiode arrays (PDA) optical recording system.
RESULTSWhen the cells were depolarized during perfusion with 150 mmol/L potassium solution, optical absorption of the dye that bound to the external surface of neuron membranes increased. The relative ratio (delta I/I) of optical absorption change was 0.23% +/- 0.08% (x +/- s, n = 28). These optical responses were wavelength dependent. Under our experimental conditions, photo toxicity and pharmacological effects of the dye were either absent or insignificant.
CONCLUSIONOur results suggest that optical recording provides a new, practical and less toxic method to simultaneously monitor changes in membrane potential from several cultured vestibular ganglion cells.
