1.Efficacy impacts of the different treatment frequencies on female stress urinary incontinence.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2013;33(12):1088-1090
OBJECTIVETo observe the effect on female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) treated with the pudendal nerve stimulation of electroacupuncture therapy at different frequencies.
METHODSSixty patients were divided into a group treated three times every week (group A) and a group treated twice every week (group B), 30 cases in each one. The pudendal nerve stimulation of electroacupuncture therapy was adopted at Disixue (four acupoints on sacral region), 60 min in each time in the two groups, treated three times a week or twice a week respectively. SUI severity and the score of life quality were observed before and after 12 treatments separately. The efficacy was evaluated in the two groups.
RESULTSAt the end of treatment, SUI severity was relieved and the score of life quality was improved in the two groups (all P<0.01). The results in group A were superior to group B [0 (0-4.3) vs 4 (0-5), P<0.01]. At the end of treatment, the total effective rate in group A was 90.0% (27/30) and was 76.7% (23/30) in group B; the efficacy in group A was better than that in group B (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe pudendal nerve stimulation of electroacupuncture therapy achieves the definite efficacy on female SUI and the results in the treatment of three times a week are superior to those in the treatment of twice a week.

4.The Relationship Between Influenza Peak and Weather in Hong Kong
Journal of Environment and Health 1989;0(06):-
Objective To discuss the relation between influenza peak, temperature and relative humidity. Methods Statistical analysis on the data of influenza consultation rates, temperature and relative humidity from 1998 to 2002 in Hong Kong area was carried out to propose some relation between influenza peak, temperature and relative humidity. Results It was slightly possible to cause influenza peak when the week-averaged temperature was less than 20 ℃ and largely possible to cause influenza peak when the week-averaged temperature was less than 15 ℃. It was also largely possible to cause influenza peak when the week-averaged temperature was very low and the relative humidity was higher which resulted the lower body-sense temperature compared with the forecasting temperature. Conclusion The prevalence of influenza occurs during four seasons in one year in Hong Kong, but the prevalence peak of influenza mainly appears under the condition of lower temperature(

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?)and interleukin-6(IL-6)in the ascitic fluid of cirrhotic patients with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis(SBP).Methods TNF-? and IL-6 in the ascitic fluid of 32 cirrhotic patients with SBP were measured by ELISA.The group was compared with the value in transudatory ascites of 30 cirrhotic patients. Results The levels of TNF-? and IL-6 in the ascitic fluid of cirrhotic patients with SBP were much higher than those in transudatory ascites of cirrhotic patients(P

Object To determine the variety of aconitine and tetrandrin in decocting Radix Aconiti and Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae separately and compatibly, and explore the mechanism of synergy between above two decocted herbs. Methods TLCS was used to determine the contents of aconitine and tetrandrin in separate decoctions and compatible decoction, respectively. Results The contents of both aconitine and tetrandrin were less in compatible decoction than in separate ones. Conclusion A scientific basis is provided by the compatible decoction of the two herbs for more effective and attenuate use.

Objective To investigate the effects of different concentrations of crocin on receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclastogenesis using the monocyte-macrophage cell line RAW264.7. Methods The monocyte-macrophage cell line RAW264.7 was cultured routinely. After treatment with 0,6.25,12.5,25, 50,100,200 and 400 μmol/L crocin, cell counting kit-8(CCK-8)assay was used to analyze the viability of RAW264.7 cells to screen out the appropriate experimental concentration. RAW264.7 cells were induced by RANKL (100 ng/L) to form osteoclasts. After treated with 0, 12.5, 50 and 100 μmol/L crocin respectively, the number of osteolasts was counted by tatrate resistant acid phosphatasec (TRAP) staining. Real-time PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression levels of calcitonin receptor(CTR),nuclear factor of active T cells 1(NFATC1),C-fos and TRAP.Results No significant effects of crocin (within 0-100 μmol/L) were found on the viability of RAW264.7 cells (P>0.05). However, When crocin concentration was over 100 μmol/L,the cell proliferation was decreased, and which showed a significant inhibitory effect on proliferation (P<0.05). Thus, 0-100 μmol/L crocin was selected as the experiment concentration. The amount of differentiated osteolasts and the expression levels of CTR,NFATC1,C-fos and TRAP mRNA were decreased significantly with the increased concentrations of crocin(P<0.05).Conclusion At a certain concentration(0-100 μmol/L),the higher levels of crocin could inhibit RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis.
