Objective To observe the effect of marin algae polysaccharide derivant on the osteoporotic model of the rats. Methods Forty six-month-old female Wistar rats were selected to duplicate the osteoporotic model induced by retinoic acid and performed with marine algae polysaccharide derivant. The rats were randomly divided into two groups: experiment group treated with 10 mg marine algae polysaccharide derivant10mg per day by oral,control group treated with 10 mg glucose per day by oral.The effect of marine algae poly saccharide derivant on osteoporosis were evaluated by morphometry. Results After intake of polysaccharide,the mean trabecular plate density (Tb.N),the mean trabecular plate thickness(Tb.Th),and the percent trabecular area (Tb.Ar%) of t he experiment group, which were treated by polysaccharide were significantly increased more than that of the control group model(P<0.01). Conclusion These results indicate that polysaccharide can increase bone mass and has a therapeutic and preventional effect on the osteoporotic model of the rats induced by retinoic acid.

Objective To study the effects of di-butyltin dilaurate (DBTD) exposure on pregnancy outcome in Wistar rat and evaluate it's effect on sexual development of fetuses. Methods Timed pregnancy rats were treated with corn oil or DBTD (10, 20, 30 mg/kg body weight) from days 12-19 of gestation. On gestational day (GD) 20, dams were sacrificed to investigate the pregnancy outcome. Results There was a downtrend in weight of dams on GD20 as the DBTD exposure dose increased. The weight of dam's utero significantly decreased in 30 mg/kg group. A significant decrease in fetal weights was observed in all DBTD groups, and fetal sizes in 20, 30 mg/kg groups. Exposure to DBTD from GD 12-19 resulted in a distinct increase in normalized anogenital distances in female fetuses, but no effects were seen in male ones. DBTD exposure did not result in external malformations, however, delayed ossification of fetal phalanges was observed in all DBTD treated groups. Dead fetuses and absorbed embryos were observed in 20, 30 mg/kg DBTD groups. Conclusion The results of the present paper show that DBTD exposure has some adverse effects on fetal development and may exert a masculinizing effect on female fetuses.

Objective To investigate the effect of astilbin on expression of CTLA-4 in activated T cells of mouse heart transplantation model with acute rejection.Methods Cardiomyocytes of BALB/ c mouse and spleen cells of C57BL/6 mouse were separated.The cardiomyocytes(2?10~5/ml)as irri- tation cells and spleen cells(1?10~6/ml)as responsers were mixed and cultured.The model of mouse heart transplantation with acute rejection in vitro was established.Three groups were set up:control group,Astilbin(15/?g/ml) group,Astilbin+anti-CTLA-4 mAb 9H10 (30?g/ml)group.Apoptosis of T cells was observed by TUNEL.The expression of CTLA-4 in activated T cells was detected by RT-PCR and Western blot.Results Apoptosis indexes of activated T cells in Astilbin group were sig- nificantly higher than those in the control group(73.4%?12.5% vs 35.1%?9.2%,P＜0.01). The expression of CTLA-4 in Astilbin group was significantly higher than control group(P＜0.01), but there was no apparently difference between control group and Astilbin+CTLA-4 mAb group(P＞0.05).Conclusion Astilbin induces apoptosis of activated T cells in heart transplantation,which may be partially related to its enhanced expression of CTLA-4.

P53 abnormality or mutation is commonly seen in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and therefore, restoration of P53 function has become a research hotspot in the treatment of HCC.This article reviews the association of P53 with Bcl-2 protein family, microRNA, TGFβ, HBV, HCV, and AKT and the role of P53 in regulating cell apoptosis, in order to provide clues for improving the therapeutic outcome of HCC.

Objective To observe the urine analysis test paper evaluation method for the determination of the sensitivity of medical equipment cleaning effect,for cleaning quality evaluation method.Methods To perform standard manual processing equipment in the experiments,the first use of ATP monitoring method and the analysis of urine test paper test mid experiment data,calculate its whether there is relationship and ATP test method,and can instruct the cleaning quality results;Second use visual method,ATP bioluminescence method and the analysis of urine test paper test the end of the experiment data,the analysis to determine the urine test paper measurement indicator cleaning qualified evaluation threshold.Results The ATP test paper method and urine analysis had showed positive correlation,0.30 ≤r≤0.75,and to complete the standard cleaning process 300 pieces of department of gynaecology attractor visual analysis method,ATP bioluminescence method and the analysis of urine test paper measurement inspection group (the -),cleaning the percent of pass was 95.67％(287/300),86.33％(259/300) and 83.37％(251/300) respectively,therefore,urine analysis test paper assay to detect the - was the cleaning threshold quality qualification evaluation,urine analysis test paper test the percent of pass was 14.46％ lower than the visual observation,x2=63.35,P＜0.05.Conclusions Urine analysis test paper test results,test method is simple,low cost,and can be widely used in medical equipment cleaning quality evaluation method of semi-quantitative daily monitoring.

Background Central corneal thickness (CCT)is an important parameter to evaluate corneal healthy status and is crucial for surgical planning.However,clinical study found that the center of cornea does not correspond to the thinnest point of cornea.Thus,it is essential to characterize the minimum corneal thickness(MCT) and its location.Objective Present study was to determine the thickness and location of MCT and its relationship to the fellow eye using Pentacam High Resolution technique.Methods The 564 eyes from 282 Chinese myopic patients were reviewed in this study.The CCT,MCT,pupillary central corneal thickness(PCT) and x-y coordinate of thinnest point were bilaterally measured.Written informed consent was obtained prior to the ocular biomedical measurement.Results CCT was (540.07±31.78) μm in the right eyes and (539.24±31.06) μm in the lefi eyes; PCT was (540.25±30.75)μm in the right eyes and (539.48±31.00)μm in the left eyes.MCT was (537.87± 31.91)μm in the right eyes and (536.35±31.24)μm in the left eyes,showing significant differences in all the parameters between the right eyes and left eyes expect for PCT(CCT:P=0.046;PCT:P=0.065 ;MCT:P=0.000).The C CT,PCT and M CT were significantly correlated between the right eyes and left eyes (r =0.97,0.97,0.98,P＜ 0.01).Bland-Altman plot showed a good consistence between the both eyes.The mean distance from the center was (0.50±0.21) mm in the right eyes and (0.56±0.22)mm in the left eyes,showing a significant difference (P =0.000).The difference between CCT and MCT was approximately (2.20±1.74)μm in the right eyes and (2.88±1.75) μm in the left eyes.The location of MCT in both the right eyes and left eyes tended to symmetry along the vertical midline.The distance between the R (x,y) to transformed L (x,y) was (0.29 ± 0.17)mm and the angular distance was (28.28±28.21)degree.Conclusions This study offers a range of MCT and its location in Chinese myopic patients.The difference exists between the CCT and MCT in bilateral eyes.The location of the thinnest point tends to be symmetrical along the vertical midline between the both eyes.The changes of these parameters may be helpful for the diagnosis of some corneal diseases.

Objective To explore the relationship of the severity of coronary-artery stenosis with plasma levels of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and Meprin-α.Methods Totally 237 patients in our hospital were divided into control group (CON group), stable angina group (SA group) and acute coronary syndrome group (ACS group), according to coronary artery angiography.Patients with acute coronary syndrome were divided into 3 subgroups: unstable angina (UA) group, non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) group and ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) group.Patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) were divided into 3 subgroups: low-score, medium-score and high-score groups, according to coronary angiography and Syntax score.BNP and Meprin-α levels were determined in patients with coronary artery disease, and the degree of coronary artery stenosis was evaluated.The differences in above indexes were analyzed and compared among the three groups.Results Plasma levels of BNP and Meprin-α were higher in ACS group than in CON group [(233.16± 78.22)ng/L vs.(33.48 ± 13.71)ng/L, (26.89 ± 6.45) nmol/L vs.(12.83±0.66)nmol/L, both P＜0.05].Compared with UA group, plasma levels of BNP and Meprin-α were increased in NSTEMI and STEMI groups (all P＜0.05).Compared with the control group, plasma levels of BNP and Meprin-α in the Syntax scores-divided subgroups were increased (all P＜ 0.05).The plasma levels of BNP and Meprin-α in CAD patients were significantly increased along with the increase of Syntax Score.Spearman correlation analysis showed that low density lipoprotein cholesterol, glucose, BNP and Meprin-α levels had positive correlations with the occurrence of coronary heart disease, while high density lipoprotein level was negatively correlated with the occurrence of coronary heart disease (all P＜0.05).Conclusions BNP and Meprin-α levels in peripheral blood are significantly elevated in patients with coronary heart disease, and they are correlated with Syntax score.The risk of ACS is increased along with the increased BNP and Meprinα levels.

Objective To study the anti-injury effects of grape seed proanthocyanidin (GSP) on the umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC)injured by hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) and its mechanism. Method Oxidative damage model of endothelial cell was induced by H2O2,and the cells were divided into five groups,including normal groups,oxidative damage group and three (100,50,10 ?g/ml) GSP pretreated groups. MTT assay was used to detect the protection of GSP,Reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) was used to detect the protein expression in mRNA level of monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP-1) and flow cytometry(FCM) was used to detect apoptosis rate and quantitate the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule(ICAM-1)and vascular cell adhesion molecule ( VCAM-1). Results The cell optical density in oxidation damaged group was lower than that in normal control. When pretreated by GSP,the OD value was increased,and was insignificantly different between high GSP group and normal control. In H2O2 damage group,the expression of MCP-1 mRNA and the apoptosis rate were increased,and the numbers of positive cells which express ICAM-1 or VCAM-1 were obviously more than those in pretreated groups respectively.Futhermore,these effects were dose dependent. Conclusion GSP has the protective effect on oxidative damage of HUVEC. The mechanism may be related to stabilization of cell wall and inhibition of inflammatory reaction and apoptosis induced by ICAM-1,VCAM-1 and MCP-1.

Objective To study the mechanism of Hezhong Jiangni Formnla(HJF) in protecting esophageal mucosa.Methods Rat models of reflux esophagitis were established by cardioplasty,pyloric ligation and roux-Y type gastrojejunostomy to evaluate the degree of esophageal mucosa injury.After treatment of HJF,the gastric juice was collected with the method of pyloric ligation to determine its volume and acidity and the activity of pepsin.The gastrointestinal motility was observed after oral use of charcoal powder.The level of malondialydehyde(MDA)in esophageal mucosa was measured to evaluate the esophageal antioxidative ability.Results HJF relieved the injury of esophageal mucosa dose-dependently;it had no obvious influence on the volume and acidity of gastric juice and the activity of pepsin,but it could obviously improve the gastrointestinal motility.MDA level of esophageal mucosa in the model group was increased significantly as compared with the control group.Pretreatment with HJF could greatly inhibited the formation of MDA.Conclusion HJF has protective effect on esophageal mucosa,which may be related to the improvement of gastrointestinal motility and its antioxidant action.
