Objective To explore the effects of different side tension pneumothorax on hemodynamics in pigs, providing data support for the optimization of on-site first-aid procedures for pneumothorax. Methods Twelve Bama pigs were randomly divided into left-sided tension pneumothorax group and right-sided tension pneumothorax group(6 in each group).During the occurrence of pneumothorax and as the pleural pressure gradually increases by 1 mmHg increments, the key indicators were collected using pulse indicator continuous cardiac output(PICCO)technology:hemodynamic indicators[global ejection fraction(GEF),cardiac output(CO),global end-diastolic volume(GEDV),intrathoracic blood volume(ITBV),stroke volume(SV),mean arterial pressure(MAP)],basic vital signs[heart rate(HR),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),systolic blood pressure(SBP)],and arterial blood gas parameters[partial pressure of oxygen(PO2),partial pressure of carbon dioxide(PCO2)].Mediastinal localization was subsequently performed using radiographs.Differences were investigated through comparison between the two groups and within each group before and after the procedure. Results By comparing the hemodynamic changes and X-ray examination results, twelve Bama pigs tension pneumothorax models were successfully constructed.Hemodynamic analysis showed that in left-sided tension pneumothorax model when the pleural pressure reached 8 mmHg,SBP,DBP,MAP,CO,GEF,SV,GEDV and ITBV were significantly lower than those during the occurrence of ipsilateral pneumothorax(P<0.05).In right-sided tension pneumothorax model, when the pleural pressure reached about 3 mmHg,SBP,DBP,MAP,SV,GEDV,and ITBV were significantly lower than those during the occurrence of ipsilateral pneumothorax(P<0.05).Blood gas analysis showed that at 8 mmHg for left-sided and 3 mmHg for right-sided tension pneumothorax, compared with the occurrence of their respective ipsilateral pneumothorax,PO2 was significantly lower(P<0.05)and PCO2 was significantly higher(P<0.05).Conclusions There are different effects on hemodynamics in different side tension pneumothorax.Compared with left tension pneumothorax, right tension pneumothorax can lead to serious consequences under a smaller pleural pressure.Different side tension pneumothorax models can be constructed according to the actual situation when performing pneumothorax related experiments.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of Xuebijing Injection (, XBJ) on survival rate and pulmonary vasopermeability in a rat model of severe scald injury.
METHODSRats were divided into two experiments: experiment 1 was monitored for 12 h post-injury for survival analysis after severe burns; in experiment 2, rats were killed for determination of pulmonary vascular permeability and pro-inflflammatory mediators. In both experiments, rats were subject to third-degree 50% total body surface area (TBSA) burns or sham injury followed by XBJ or normal saline (NS) treatment. In addition, rat pulmonary microvascular endothelium cells (PMECs) were pretreated with either XBJ or phosphate buffer saline (PBS), and then subjected to sham serum or scald serum stimulation for 2 or 6 h, followed by transwell examination for the permeability of PMECs. Meanwhile, pro-inflflammatory mediators in PMECs culture supernatant were also investigated.
RESULTSThe average survival time in the scald+XBJ group was 582.1±21.2 min, which was signifificantly longer than that in the scald + NS group (345.8±25.4 min, P<0.01). Plasma levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), E-selectin, interleukin-6 (IL-6), vascular permeability and water content of lung tissues were signifificantly increased in animals after severe burns (P<0.01). However, administration of XBJ signifificantly decreased these levels in plasma and lung tissue. In in vitro cell experiments, XBJ markedly attenuated permeability in PMECs monolayer and reduced the levels of TNF-α, IL-6 and soluble E-selectin after stimulation with scald serum (P<0.01).
CONCLUSIONSXBJ increases early survival rate by alleviating pulmonary vasopermeability and inhibiting pro-inflflammatory mediators in rats subjected to lethal scald injury. XBJ may be a potent drug in treatment of severe burns.

Objective: To investigate the influencing factors of overactive bladder (OAB) in college freshmen and the impacts of OAB on their mental health, quality of life and social interaction. Methods: An epidemiological questionnaire survey was conducted in an anonymous manner on the prevalence of OAB among 5300 freshmen aged 17 to 22 years enrolled in the 2023—2024 academic year in Xinxiang Medical University and Sanquan College of Xinxiang Medical University. The questionnaire included questions on basic information, history of urinary tract infection, constipation, smoking, history of alcohol consumption, history of coffee/strong tea drinking, history of carbonated beverage drinking, redundant prepuce, phimosis, holding urine, chronic insomnia, self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), quality of life score (QoL), and social avoidance and distress scale (SADS).The influencing factors of OAB were analyzed with multivariate logistic regression analysis. The subjects were grouped according to whether they had OAB, and the differences in SAS, QoL and SADS between the OAB group and non-OAB group were compared. The impacts of OAB on the anxiety level, quality of life, and social interaction were analyzed with multiple linear regression analysis. Results: The overall prevalence rate of OAB was 4.9% (244/5018).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the history of urinary tract infection (OR=0.177), constipation (OR=0.636), smoking (OR=0.582), alcohol consumption (OR=0.685), coffee/strong tea drinking (OR=0.387), carbonated beverage drinking (OR=0.631), redundant prepuce (OR=0.673), phimosis (OR=0.311), urine holding (OR=0.593), and chronic insomnia (OR=0.256) were influencing factors for the occurrence of OAB (P<0.05).The OAB group had higher SAS score [(41.18±6.54) vs. (38.61±6.36)], QoL score [(3.65±1.20) vs. (2.79±0.95)], social avoidance score [(6.25±1.86) vs. (5.86±1.51)], social distress score [(6.27±1.59) vs. (5.97±1.32)], and total SADS score [(12.51±2.35) vs. (11.84±2.01)] than the non-OAB group (P<0.05).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that OAB could independently affect the scores of QoL, SAS, and SADS.The OAB group had higher scores of QoL, SAS, and SADS compared with the non-OAB group (P<0.001). Conclusion: History of urinary tract infection, constipation, smoking, alcohol consumption, coffee/strong tea drinking, carbonated beverage drinking, redundant prepuce, phimosis, urine holding, and chronic insomnia are influencing factors for the occurrence of OAB in male college students. Moreover, OAB has negative impacts on their mental health, quality of life, and social interaction.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2021;37(2):225-232
Human heart rhythm is mainly regulated and controlled by the sinoatrial node. Fibrosis plays an important regulating role in adjusting the structural and functional integrity of the sinoatrial node pacemaker complex. In physiological state, the fibrosis degree of sinoatrial node is negatively correlated with heart rate, positively correlated with age and heart size, and can maintain a relatively stable heart rate. Pathological fibrosis of sinoatrial node can induce various types of arrhythmias which can result in sudden death. Determination of the mechanisms related to sinoatrial node pathological fibrosis could provide a target for clinical treatment of sinoatrial node fibrosis and diagnosis basis for forensic pathologists. This paper reviews the main mechanism of sinoatrial node pathological fibrosis, including abnormal activation of cardiac fibroblast cells in sinoatrial node, hyperplasia of epicardial adipose tissue, calcium clock disorder, artery stenosis, etc., introduces the test methods, diagnostic criteria as well as its role in sudden cardiac death and discusses the potential application, to provide reference for relevant research and application.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2018;26(6):1632-1636
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the exprassion of WT1 gene in patients with adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and its clinical significance.
METHODS:
Sixty-three newly diagnosed patients with acute myeloid leukemia were selected. Quantitative RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of WT1 gene in the 63 AML patients and 20 non-AML controls.
RESULTS:
WT1 gene was highly expressed in AML patents and its expression in the low-risk group was significantly lower than that in middle-risk group and high-risk group (P<0.05), and no significant difference of WT1 gene expression between middle-risk and high-risk group was observed. In the patients of middle-risk and high-risk patients, the expression of WT1 gene in the remission group was significantly lower than that in the patients of non-remission after treatment (P<0.05). The non-remission patients after first treatment in middle-risk and high-risk group were treated with second induction therapy. After second induction therapy, the WT1 expression in remission patients was significantly decreased (P<0.05) in comparison with that in patients still in non-remission. There was a negative correlation between WT1 expression and the 2-year overall survival rate in the newly diagnosed middle and high-risk AML patients.
CONCLUSION
The detection of WT1 gene expression can help to divide AML patients into low-/middle-/high-risk groups and to evaluate therapeutic response and clinical prognosis in middle and high-risk AML patients.

Chinese journal of integrative medicine 2023;29(4):341-352
BACKGROUND:
Primary dysmenorrhea (PD) is the most common complaint associated with menstruation and affects up to three-quarters of women at some stage of their reproductive life. In Chinese medicine, navel therapy, treatment provided at Shenque (CV 8), is used as a treatment option for PD.
OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the effect of navel therapy on pain relief and quality of life in women with PD, compared with Western medicine (WM).
METHODS:
China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Scientific Journal Database (VIP), SinoMed and Wanfang Database, MEDLINE, the Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, and the International Clinical Trial Registry of the U.S. National Institutes of Health were searched from their inceptions to April 1, 2021. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing therapeutic effects of navel therapy on PD were eligible for inclusion. RevMan 5.4 software was used for data analyses. The certainty of the evidence was assessed using the online GRADEpro tool.
RESULTS:
Totally 24 RCTs involving 2,614 participants were identified. Interventions applied to acupuncture point CV 8 included: herbal patching, moxibustion or combined navel therapy (using at least 2 types of stimulation). Compared to placebo, there was a significant effect in favor of navel therapy on reducing overall menstrual symptom scores at the end of treatment [mean difference: -0.82, 95% confidence interval (CI): -1.00 to -0.64, n=90; 1 RCT]. As compared with Western medicine, navel therapy had a superior effect on pain intensity as assessed by Visual Analogue Scale at the end of treatment [standardized mean difference (SMD): -0.64, 95% CI: -1.22 to -0.06, I2=80%, n=262; 3 RCTs]; on symptom resolution rate at 3-month follow-up (risk ratio: 1.94, 95% CI: 1.47 to 2.56, n=1527, I2=38%; 13 RCTs); and on global menstrual symptoms score at the end of treatment (SMD: -0.67, 95% CI: -0.90 to -0.45, I2=63%, n=990; 12 RCTs). Subgroup analyses showed either a better or an equivalent effect comparing navel therapy with Western medicine. No major adverse events were reported. The methodological quality of included trials was poor overall.
CONCLUSIONS
Navel therapy appears to be more effective than Western medicine in decreasing menstrual pain and improving overall symptoms of PD. However, these findings need to be confirmed by well-designed clinical trials with adequate sample size (Systematic review registration at PROSPERO, No. CRD42021240350).

Novel series of limonin derivatives (V-A-1-V-A-8, V-B-1-V-B-8) were synthesized by adding various tertiary amines onto the C (7)-position of limonin. The synthesized compounds possessed favorable physicochemical property, and the intrinsic solubility of the novel compounds were significantly improved, compared with limonin. Different pharmacological models were used to evaluate the analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of the target compounds. Compound V-A-8 exhibited the strongest in vivo activity among the novel limonin analogs; its analgesic activity was more potent than aspirin and its anti-inflammatory activity was stronger than naproxen under our testing conditions.
