OBJECTIVE To understand the susceptibility to antituberculous agents for patients with primary and acquired drug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. METHODS M. tuberculosis positive sputum samples were collected from Jun to Dec 2006. Ameliorative Lowenstein-Jensen culture medium was used to detect bacillus-positive specimen of pulmonary tuberculosis by typing using PNB and TCH. Totally 217 samples were confirmedtobe positive by culturing. Drug susceptibility test against streptomycin (SM),isoniazid (INH),rifampicin (RFP) and ethambutol (EMB) was conducted. RESULTS The total drug resistance rate was 65.90%,the initial drug resistance rate was 39.81% and the initial multi-drug resistance rate was 16.67% ;the acquired drug resistance rate was 91.74%,and the acquired multi-drug resistance rate was 74.31%. The main causes of drug resistance were irregularit of treatment at beginning and preterm stop of the freatment course by patients own selves,which accounted for 71.6%. CONCLUSIONS The drug resistance of M. tuberculosis is caused by irregular treatment,so the key to prevent and control drug resistance is rational and whole-course treatment.

We have observed the effects of five alga polysaccharides on rabbit's blood platelets aggregation. We found that the polysaccharides could inhibit aggregation of blood platelets in vitro. The strongest effect was observed in the polysaccharides from the following,in decreasing order of strength: Scytosiphon lomentarius, Codium fragile,Laminaria japonica and Ulvalactuca. The same effect was not observed in polysaccharides from Cladophra. We also found a positive correlation between the effects of anti-aggregation and the ratio of vitriol radicles in these five polysaccharides.

The study on syndrome of TCM is a key topic on basic research of TCM. Among the whole system of TCM, the syndrome of TCM is in the core position. It is the bridge which connecting the clinic with the basic theories. This paper has carried on the discussion from the study of syndrome standardization and essence of syndromes. We reviewed and analyzed the present situation of syndrome, and explored the development and tendency of the research on syndrome. The following suggestions have been put forward:extracting the syndrome elements is the precondition and the comparison of diseases and their relevant syndromes is the main idea to establish the standardization of criterion of syndromes in clinical diagnosis. studying the essence of syndrome on the basis of system biology by methods of proteomics and metabolism to explore the scientifi c connotation of TCM syndrome.

As a kind of pesticide, fungicide and preservative, PCP had been used extensively in industry, agriculture and domesticity throughout the world. PCP contamination is generally associated with sediments or soil, it can also concentrate in organism. Regarding the character of high toxicity, long persistence and difficult to degrade, PCP has become a kind of conspicuous environmental pollutant because of widely use and inappropriate disposal. In the contaminated area, PCP can be detected in the water, soil and the body of organisms. PCP can affect human health through directly exposure or through food chain. The absorbed PCP can be stored in liver, kidney and fat,it can also increase the incidence rate of tumork, disturb the endocrine system, affect immune function,inhibit reproduction and development. PCP not only has a direct impairment on human body but also shows a potential impact in genetics.

Objective:To discuss the relationship between blood-lipid change and acute cerebrovascular disease (ACVD) and tocompare the blood-lipid levels in the patients with cerebral hemorrhage (CH group) with those in the patients with cerebralinfarction (CI group). Methods:The blood-lipid levels in 300 patients with ACVD (ACVD group) and 100 patients withother system disease (control group) were tested with automatic biochemistry analysor and compared between the twogroups. Results:There were significant differences between ACVD group and control group as well as between CH group andCI group. Conclusion:Although there were blood-lipid metabolic disturbances in both CH and CI patients, their degrees weresignificantly different, which should be closely observed and controlled in clinic.

Objective To investigate the patterns for the recurrent and metastatic gastric cancer after curative resection and to indicate the strategy of treatment. Methods 162 patients who had received radical resection and presented post-operation failure during recent 9 years were analyzed. The failure patterns were confirmed by type-B ultrasonic or CT / MRI imaging. 15 of 34 patients with abdominal dropsy were diagnosed by adenocarcinoma cells in the abdominal dropsy. All superficial lymphadens and abdominal wall metastasis were diagnosed via punctuation. 31 patients with gastric remnant and (or) anastomoses recurrence were diagnosed via biopsy. Results Of 162 patients, 63 presented the recurrence or metastasis in multiple sites,including abdominal lymph node (LN) metastases in 46.9 % (76/162), peritoneum metastases in 21.0 % (34/162),gastric remnant and (or) anastomoses recurrence in 19.1% (31/162), liver metastases in 19.1% (31/162), the incidence rates of other parts were all ＜10 %. Meanwhile, out of 76 patients with abdominal lymph node metastases, 48.7 % (37/76) patients with peri-gastric LNs metastases, 31.6 % (24/76) with peri-pancreatic LNs metastases, 19.7 % (15/76) with para-aortic LNs metastases. The incidence of LN metastases was 57.7 % (56/97) in cancer arising from gastric fundus/cardia and 60.4% (29/48) in gastric body and 64.7 % (11/17) in pylorus antrum. Conclusion The regional failure sites for gastric cancer patients with radical resection were dominantly found in the gastric stump/stoma, the peritoneum and pelvic cavity implantation and abdominal cavity LN metastases, especially in the peri-gastric, peri-pancreatic and/or para-aortic LN metastases. The distant place failure sites were mainly in the liver, lung, brain, spondylus, cervical part LN and mediastinal LN metastases. Therefore, we should take chemotherapy, abdominal cavity chemotherapy and regional radiotherapy to prevent the regional district recurrences and distant metastasis after the gastric cancer patients with radical resection. Radiotherapy fields should focus on the gastric stump/stoma and the peri-gastric, peri-pancreatic and para-aortic LN regions.

Objective To investigate the recurrence and metastasis patterns of gastric cancer after curative resection and to guide target definition of prophylactic radiotherapy.Methods In the past 8 years,130 gastric cancer patients with treatment failure after radical resection were retrospectively analyzed.The failure sites were confirmed by B ultrasonography, CT or MRI imaging.Ten of 28 patients with ascites were found to have adenocarcinoma cells in the ascites.All superficial node and abdominal wall metastases were diagnosed pathologically by biopsy.And 27 patients with gastric remnant and/or anastomotic recurrence were diagnosed pathologically by biopsy.Results Of 130 patients, 53 were presented with multiple recurrences or metastases, 27 with gastric remnant and/or anastomostic recurrence, 28 with peritoneal metastases, 22 with liver metastases, 9 with pancreatic metastases, 60 with abdominal lymph node (LN) metastases, 8 with abdominal wall metastases, 5 with pelvic implantations, 6 with lung metastases, 5 with brain metastases, 5 with bone metastases, 8 with cervical lymph node metastases, 9 with mediastinal lymph node metastases and 8 with other metastases.Of 60 patients with abdominal LN metastases, 35, 16 and 9 had peri-gastric LNs,peri-pancreatic LNs and para-aortic LNs metastases.Abdominal LN metastases were found in 33 from 77 patients with primary gastric fundus or cardiac carcinoma, 20 from 40 patients with gastric body carcinoma,and 7 from 13 patients with pyloric carcinoma, respectively.Conclusions The failure sites of gastric cancer after radical resection are mainly the gastric stump/stoma, peritoneum, liver and abdominal LN.The perigastric, peri-pancreatic and/or para-aortic LN metastases are the most common failure of LNs.Thus, the peri-gastric, peri-pancreatic and para-aortic LN regions and gastric stump/stoma should be included in postoperative radiotherapy, and current chemotherapy is recommended.

Objective To investigate the effects of edaranvone on lung injury induced by myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rats. Methods Twenty-four male Wistar rats weighing 250-300 g were randomly assigned to one of 4 groups ( n = 6 each): group Ⅰ sham operation (group S); group Ⅱ myocardial I/R and group Ⅲ and Ⅳ different doses of edaravone ( group E1, E2 ). The animals were anesthetized, intubated and mechanically ventilated. In group Ⅱ-Ⅳ myocardial I/R was induced by occlusion of left anterior descending coronary artery for 45 min followed by 3 h reperfusion. In group Ⅲ and Ⅳ edavarone 3 and 10 mg/kg was administered via right femoral vein at 1 min before reperfusion respectively. The animals were sacrificed by exsanguination at the end of 3 h reperfusion. Blood was collected for determination of serum CK-MB activity and total protein content. The left lung was lavaged and the broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was colleted for determination of protein content. Pulmonary permeability index (PPI) was calculated. The lung tissue was obtained for determination of BD-2 mRNA and protein and TNF-α expression. Results The serum CK-MB activity, PPI,BD-2 mRNA and protein and TNF-α expression were significantly higher in group I/R, E1 and E2 than in group S,but significantly lower in group E1 and E2 than in group I/R and in group E2 than in group E1. Conclusion Edaravone can reduce myocardial I/R-induced lung injury by scavenging oxygen free radicals and inhibiting inflammatory response of lung tissues in rats.

BACKGROUND:Though the high-resolution CT(HRCT)could identify the inner structures of temporal bone.its tiny parts could hardly be observed accurately and clearly by the imaging examinations of auriculotemporal portion,with the influence of scanning layers as well as the partial volume phenomenon.However,it could be easily identified by the combination of thin sections and HRCT images.OBJECTIVE:To introduce a method which could locate the posterior tympanum and its neighboring structures using HRCT images and to provide an anatomical base for the imaging diagnosis and operative treatment on this area.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:The observations between the auriculotemporal sections and CT images were finished both in thc Department of Sectional and Imaging Anatomy,Medical College,Nanchang University and the Center of Medical lmageology.Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital from July 2004 to June 2007.MATERIALS:Fifteen normal adult cadaveric heads(30 sides)which fixed by 100 g/L formaldehyde were scanned,with all the samples provided by the Department of Anatomy,Medical College,Nanchang University.The main equipment was GE Hi-speed Nx/i Sys CT equipment (GE Company,USA).METHODS:Tb obtain CT images of temporal bone(depth 1.00 mm,thickness 1.00 mm),15 normal adult cadaver heads were scanned by CT method taking callthomeatal line(CML)as the baseline.After that,specimens of auriculotemporal portion from temporal bone were taken,decalcified,desiccated and embedded.Sequential sections(thick 1.00 mm)were made.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Comparing sequential sections with CT image,identified respectively the fossa incudis,chorda eminence,styloid eminence,tacial recess,sinus tympanl,ponticulus promontoni,suprameatal spine,etc.RESULTS:The depth of fossa incudas was about(1.49±0.05)mm,the distance from the fossa to pyramid segment of facial nerve was(5.67±0.1 4)mm.The distance from the medial wall of posterior tympanic sinus to the horizontal segment of facial nerve was(3.1 2±0.1 5)mm.The average distance from suprameatal spine to the vertical segment of facial nerve was (16.73±1.24)mm,to chorda tympani nerve(15.87±1.14)mm,to promontory(21.84±2.43)mm.CONCLUSION:Comparing the sectional antomy and CT image of auriculotemporal potion of temporal bone is valuable for the diagnosis and treatment of otopathy.

Objective:To seek differentially expressed plasma proteins of unstable angina blood-stasis syndrome.Methods:2-dimensional di rence gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry were used to screen the di erentially expressed plasma proteins among unstable angina blood-stasis syndrome and healthy volunteers.Results:Compared with healthy people,the express of Clusterin,ApoA-I of unstable angina blood-stasis syndrome patient decreased while the expression of Fibrinogen ? chain,Vitamin D-Binding Protein,Haptoglobin ? chain,Haptoglobin ?2 chain increased.Conclusion:Fibrinogen ? chain,Fibrinogen ? chain,Haptoglobin ? chain,Haptoglobin ?2 chain,Clusterin,ApoA-I may be correlative with blood-stasis syndrome.
