1.Questions on Standard ofClassiifcation and Determination ofPhysical Constitutions in TCM
World Science and Technology-Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2015;(6):1305-1309
The standard ofClassificationandDetermination of Physical Constitutions in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which was issued by the China Association of TCM in 2009, has been promoted and implemented. However, we found that the criteria were inconsistent with the principles and methods of constitution classification in TCM after serious research. The features for physical constitution classification were repetitive and redundant without clear boundaries among them. Furthermore, there were poor correlations among different factors within a single physical constitution. Accordingly, it was suggested that the theory of physical constitutions in TCM should not be confused with and treated as the science of it. Because the standard ofClassiifcationandDetermination of Physical Constitutions in TCM is not mature enough, we should be cautious when applying it.

Objective To investigate the role of T-type calcium channel in lidocaine-induced neuronal cytotoxicity . Methods SH-SYSY cell line was a gift from cell biology laboratory of our medical university. The cells were cultured in DMEM liquid culture medium at 37℃ in incubator filled with 5% CO2 , and randomly divided into 4 groups ( n = 66 each) : control group (group C)and M, L and ML groups were exposed to 5 μmol/L mibefradil (a T-type calcium channel blocker), 10 mmol/L lidocaine and 5 μmoL/L mibefradil + 10 mmol/L lidocaine for 24 h. Cell morphology was examined by electronic microscopy at 24 h of drug exposure. Cell viability (by MTT) and neuronal apoptosis (by flow cytometry) were detected immediately before and at 1, 6, 12 and 24 h of exposure to mibefradil or/and lidocaine. Results In C and M groups, the cells demonstrated dendritic protrusions, enlarged nerve processes and dense lattice. After being exposed to lidocaine for 24 h, the dendritic protrusions disappeared, the cells decreased in size, shrinked and became round; the cell viability was significantly decreased while the neuronal apoptosis increased. The lidocaine-induced changes were significantly attenuated by co-incubation with mibefradil. ConclusionT-type calcium channel is involved in lidocaine-induced neuronal cytotoxicity.

Objective To explore a new methodology with bilateral rhomboid dermal flaps for surgical treatment of inverted nipple. Methods 36 cases with 64 inverted nipples were involved in this study. Among these cases, 8 of them were evaluated as mild degree, while 19 moderate and 9 severe. In this procedure, the bilateral rhomboid incisions were designed. The rhomboid skin was deepithelialized and two dermal flaps were created. Then these two dermal flaps were filled crosswise through the tunnel beneath the nipple and fixed as supporting. After the operation, the continuous traction of the nipple lasted for one week, and sutured out 10 days later. Results None of these 36 cases appeared nipple blood circulation disorder after operation. Postoperative follow-up for 6 months-3 years showed that the appearance of the nipple was satisfactory. There were no recurrence and sensory disturbance. Conclusions The method introduced in this study is simple, the appearance of nipple is natural and no complication has been found. The incision is larvaceous while the scar is invisible. Meanwhile this method is also benefit for reserving the function of breast-feeding. It is proved to be an ideal method for correcting the inverted nipple.
