Objective To analyse the location of the mandibular canal, providing the theoretical basis for implanting and bone grafting. Methods Mandibular data of 83 Chinese people obtained by cone-beam computed tomography examination were collected. Results The distance from the mandibular canal to mandibular buccal wall was (5.32 ± 1.29)~(7.24 ± 1.29) mm. And the average distance from mandibular canal to mandibular lingual wall or inferior margin were respectively (3.43 ± .99) ~ (3.93 ± 1.17) mm and (8.81 ± 1.90) ~ (10.02 ± 2.19) mm. Significant differences between males and females were found in groups. The anterior loop was observed in 70.9%of all sides. The accessory mental foramen was observed in 10.84% of all sides. Conclusion For the remarkable mutation of the location of the mandibular canal in Chinese people, clinicians should be careful before implant or bone surgery procedures to minimize the risk of inferior alveolar nerve injury.
3. Research progress of mitochondrial Lon protease and its related diseases
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2020;40(5):683-687
Lon protease (LON) is a highly conserved ATP-dependent serine protease, which is responsible for the decomposition and elimination of abnormal proteins. As an important executor of intracellular environment stability, LON can degrade misfolded and damaged proteins together with proteasome to ensure the high quality of proteins in vivo, especially in the maintenance of mitochondrial function. At the same time, the physiological function of LON also has an important effect on cell survival under various stresses. Recent studies have shown that the abnormal expression or activity of LON is involved in the occurrence and development of many diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes mellitus, myocardial ischemia, cerebral ischemia and tumors. This review focuses on the structure and the function of LON, the relationship between abnormal expression and diseases, and the research progress of LON activity intervention, in order to provide ideas for clinical diagnosis and treatment of related diseases.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the anti-tumor effect of Xihuang pill on tumor-bearing rats and its effect on the immune clearance function of tumor-bearing organisms.
METHODWalker256 tumor cells were adopted to establish the tumor-bearing rat model. The rats were randomly divided into five groups: the normal control group, the model control group, the lentinan group and Xihuang pill low dose, middle dose and high dose groups, with 10 rats in each group, and continuously treated and given drugs for 14 d after modeling. Blood and tumors were collected from abdominal aorta to calculate the tumor inhibition rate. The content of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ T cells and adhesion molecule B7-1 (CD80) in peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry (FCM). The expressions of IL-2 and IFN-gamma in were determined by ELISA.
RESULTThe tumor inhibition rate of the Xihuang pill high dose group was 33. 1 percent. Compared with the model group, the Xihuang pill large dose group showed significantly low IL-2, IFN-gamma, CD3+, CD4+, B7-1 in peripheral blood, with statistical significance in their differences (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONXihuang pill could show its anti-tumor effect by enhancing the immune clearance function and increasing IL-2, IFN-gamma, CD3+ T, CD4+ T, B7-1 in peripheral blood.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between baseline heart rate(HR) and all-cause death(ACD)in general population.
METHODS93 716 workers with heart rate between 40 bpm/min-120 bpm/min and without histories of stroke were selected from the '2006-2007 health examination records' in Kailuan and completed the electrocardiogram exam. Related information were also gathered. These subjects were followed up from July 2006 to December 2010, with the mean time of follow-up as 47.5±4.3 months. During the follow-up period, the occurrence of all-cause death was observed every half a year.
RESULTS(1)The lowest cumulative mortality rate was 1.61% in the group with 60-69 bpm/min. The lowest cumulative mortality rate was 1.78% in the group of 60-69 bpm/min in men. There was no death events observed in women with less than 50 bpm/min and the lowest cumulative mortality rate was 0.60% in the group of 80-89 bpm/min in women. (2)Data from Cox proportional hazard regression analysis showed that the RR(95%CI)of cumulative mortality rates in general population were 1.187 (1.039-1.336), 1.392(1.185-1.636), 1.733(1.404-2.139)and 2.716 (2.171-3.398)in the groups of 70-79, 80-89, 90-99 and ≥100 bpm/min, respectively. The RRs (95% CI) of cumulative mortality in men were 1.227(1.067-1.410), 1.481(1.254-1.750), 1.754 (1.406-2.188)and 2.831 (2.245-3.571) respectively. In women, when comparing with the group of 80-89 bpm/min, the RRs (95%CI)of all-cause death were 0.671(0.568-0.793), 0.825(0.703-0.970) and 1.925 (1.512-2.453)respectively in the groups of 60-69, 70-79 and ≥100 bpm/min.
CONCLUSIONWhen HR exceeding ≥70 bpm/min, the increase of HR would also increase the rate of ACD. Results of our study also showed a J-shaped curve relation between HR and mortality.

Background and Objectives:
Chronic inflammation of bone tissue often results in bone defects and hazards to tissue repair and regeneration. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural cannabinoid with multiple biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and osteogenic potential. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and mechanisms of CBD in the promotion of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) osteogenic differentiation in the inflammatory microenvironment.
Methods:
and Results: BMSCs isolated from C57BL/6 mice, expressed stem cell characteristic surface markers and pre-sented multidirectional differentiation potential. The CCK-8 assay was applied to evaluate the effects of CBD on BMSCs’ vitality, and demonstrating the safety of CBD on BMSCs. Then, BMSCs were stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to induce inflammatory microenvironment. We found that CBD intervention down-regulated mRNA expression levels of inflammatory cytokines and promoted cells proliferation in LPS-treated BMSCs, also reversed the protein and mRNA levels downregulation of osteogenic markers caused by LPS treatment. Moreover, CBD intervention activated the cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) and the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. While AM630, a selective CB2 inhibitor, reduced phosphorylated (p)-p38 levels. In addition, AM630 and SB530689, a selective p38 MAPK inhibitor, attenuated the enhancement of osteogenic markers expression levels by CBD in inflammatory microenvironment, respectively.
Conclusions
CBD promoted osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs via the CB2/p38 MAPK signaling pathway in the inflammatory microenvironment.
