Objective To describe CT and MR apearance of retroperitoneal ganglioneuroma .Methods CT and MR findings ofretroperitoneal tumor in a patient with ganglioneuroma biopsy-proved were retrospectively analyzed, and a literature review was conducted. Results The mass was well-circumscribed,non-enhanced CT showed homogeneous low atenuation, and a punctate calcification was seeninside tumor.Contrast uptake was delayed.Progressive but incomplete enhancement was observed. On MRI,T_2WI showed a high signalintensity and T_1WI show a low signal intensity.Enhanced MR depicted the mild enhancment. Conclusion Retroperitoneal ganglioneuroma is a rare tumor which should nevertheless be included in differential diagnosis of retroperitoneal masses when presenting as a well-delimitedtumor with possible tendency to surroud or displace major blood vessels.Low density on non-enhanced CT,and delayed progressiveenhancement on CT and MRI.

Objective To compare the discriminative ability of MRI linear measurements and volumetric measurements between patients with Alzheimer disease (AD) and control subjects, and to evaluate their clinical value. Methods The study group consisted of 32 patients with probable Alzheimer disease and 32 healthy control subjects. Linear measurements and volumetric measurements of the bilateral hippocampal formations, temporal horns of lateral ventricle, parahippocampal gyri, and entorhinal cortices were performed on the serial reconstructed MR images. Discriminant analysis was used to identify measurements independently contributing to discriminating between AD and control subjects. Results With a stepwise method, the right height of temporal horn and right thickness of entorhinal cortex of linear measurements entered the function. The specificity, sensitivity, and accuracy of this function were 96.9%, 84.4%, and 90.6%, respectively. The left entorhinal cortex and left hippocampus of volumetric measurements entered the other discriminant function. The specificity, sensitivity, and accuracy of the second function were 100.0%, 90.6%, and 95.3%, respectively. All the linear and volumetric measurements of cerebral regions were significantly different between AD group and control subjects(t= -6.80~12.53,P

Objective To study the effect of mechanical tension on collagen arrangement and illustrate the relationship between tissue architecture and tension properties. Methods Cell morphologies, orientation and collagen arrangement of fibroblasts cultured in three different types of collagen gels with variation of mechanical tension were observed by phase contrast photomicrographs, light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Expression and distribution of a-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) were investigated by immunohistochemistry. Results Phase contrast photomicrographs, light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy showed high level of tension distributed anisotropically in the monolayer gels and the anchored collagen gels, with bipolar shape of the fibroblasts, obvious polarity, arrangement of exogenous collagen fibres parallel to the long axis of the fibroblasts, especially prominent in monolayer gels. Low level of tension distributed isotropically was observed in floating collagen gels, with stellate morphology and arrangement of exogenous collagen fibres in a reticular array. Immunofluorescence showed that fibroblasts expressed high level of α-SMA protein distributed along the long axis of fibroblasts in the monolayer gels and the anchored collagen gels, especially in former ones. In contrast, few expression of α-SMA protein was found in floating collagen gels. Cell morphologies and orientation, expression and distribution of α-SMA as well as collagen arrangement of fibroblasts in the monolayer gels and the anchored collagen gels were similar to those in granulation tissue, whereas floating collagen gels resembled normal dermis or remodelled tissues. Conclusions Tissue architecture or morphology of the dermis are corresponding to tension proporties. Different tissue architectures are closely correlated with particular tension proporties.

OBJECTIVE:To clarify the bio-transformation form of apigenin in rats, and to speculate its possible metabolic path-way. METHODS:Rats were divided into blank group and medication group(apigenin 200 mg/kg,i.g.)with 6 rats in each group. Urine and feces samples were collected from 2 groups within 24 h after medication. After corresponding treatment, urine and feces samples were analyzed and detected by HPLC-IT-TOF-MSn under cation mode and anion mode. RESULTS:9 metabolites were iden-tified in urine sample of rats from medication group,i.e. 2,3-double bond reduction of apigenin (U1,U7,U8,U9),bonded to glucuronic acid(U2,U3,U4),bonded to sulphate(U5,U6,U7,U8,U9)and bonded to glucose(U2). 4 metabolites were iden-tified in feces sample of rats from medication group,i.e. 2,3-double bond reduction of apigenin(F3),bonded to glucuronic acid (F2)and bonded to glucose(F1). CONCLUSIONS:Apigenin mainly exists in form of prototype drug in rats. The reduction hap-pens on 2,3-double bond by the intestinal bacteria, and the product of apigenin boned to glucuronic acid or glucose can be formed when excreting in intestinal tract and rats in vivo, while the product of apigenin boned to sulphate can be formed only when excret-ing in rats in vivo.
