[Objective]To investigate the micro-structural alterations within whole brain white matter(WM) in cough syrup abuse addiction patients containing codeine, and to explore the correlation between aberrant WH and abuse time of cough medicine abuse patients.[Methods]Thirty cough syrup abuse addiction patients containing codeine and 30 controls participated in the study. Structural changes in FA and(mean diffusivity)MD were examined in cough syrup abuse addiction patients containing codeine which derived from DTI tractography. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to compare the mean FA value and duration of cough syrup abuse addiction in patients.[Results]Cough syrup abuse addiction patients containing codeine had lower FA value in bilateral anterior limb of internal capsule(ALIC)and higher MD in the bilateral hippocampus and insula, right anterior cingulate cortex(ACC)and superior temporal gyrus, compared to the controls. Cough syrup abuse addiction group also had positive correlation between mean FAvalues and duration of cough syrup abuse addiction in patients.[Conclusion]Micro-structural alterations within whole brain white matter(WM)are found in cough syrup abuse addiction patients containing codeine. This disturbance progresses as duration increases of cough syrup abuse addiction in patients.

Objective To report the clinical characteristics of alien hand syndrome(AHS). Methods Eight AHS inpatients from July,2015 to July,2017 were reviewed from the etiology, clinical manifestations, imaging characteristics and outcome. Results The etiology of the patients was cerebrovascular disease. The clinical features included alien hand (8 cases), movement disorder(8 cases),cognitive disorder(5 cases),speech disorder(4 cases)and affective disorder(3 cas-es).Imaging indicated the lesions involved callosum(8 cases),frontal lobe(2 cases),parietal lobe(3 cases),tem-poral lobe(2 cases)and basal ganglial region(1 case). There were four cases healing, two improving, two of re-mission after medicine and rehabilitation. Conclusion ASH is mainly resulted from cerebrovascular disease, in which callosum and frontal lobe are mostly in-volved,features in different forms, and prognoses well.

BACKGROUNDHuman immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS)-related stigma is an obstacle to the implementation of treatment, care, and support programs for people living with HIV/AIDS. This study explored the association of the HIV knowledge with the attitudes toward HIV/AIDS.
METHODSA cross-sectional survey was conducted in HIV epidemic rural areas with 5355 participants. Their knowledge and attitudes about HIV/AIDS were assessed, and the associations of HIV transmission and non-transmission knowledge with negative attitudes towards the HIV/AIDS were analyzed.
RESULTSNegative attitudes were significantly correlated with the HIV non-transmission knowledge and the correlation was higher than that with HIV transmission knowledge among participants who were male, 20 years old and migrant workers, students and respondents of and above junior high school. However, among those who were female, age 30 and older, illiterate with primary school education, negative attitudes were significantly associated with HIV non-transmission knowledge and the association was lower than that with HIV transmission knowledge.
CONCLUSIONSHIV transmission knowledge and non-transmission knowledge have different influences on negative attitudes towards HIV/AIDS among different demographic subgroups.

By comparing and analyzing the similarity among the international scalp acupuncture, JIAO's scalp acupuncture and ZHU's scalp acupuncture, it is believed that the international scalp acupuncture is a combination of traditional acupuncture and other scalp acupuncture on the basis of channel theory of TCM, and this combination is worthy of discussion. However JIAO's scalp acupuncture lacks scientific evidence. So, the international scalp acupuncture following most contents of JIAO's scalp acupuncture is worthy of discussion.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2008;28(5):675-678
OBJECTIVETo observe the expression and localization of endogenous C-reactive protein (CRP) in cells from different tissues under different conditions.
METHODSMacrophages differentiated from THP-1 monocytes with phorbol ester (PMA) induction and human LO2 hepatocytes were stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The culture supernatant of the LPS-stimulated THP-1 cells was collected and added into LO2 cell culture, and after incubation, the cells were lysed to extract the proteins for SDS-PAGE and Western blotting. The stimulated cells were also examined immunocytochemically for CRP expression.
RESULTSWestern blotting detected CRP in both of the unstimulated cell lysates, but in neither of the two cell supernatants. After LPS stimulation, CRP expression was significantly increased in the cell lysate of THP-1 cells with also a small amount present in the supernatant, but CRP expression and release in the LO2 cells showed no significant variation. Treatment of the LO2 cells with the culture supernatant of LPS-stimulated THP-1 cells resulted in positivity of CRP in the cell lysate and the culture supernatant. Immunocytochemistry identified CRP expression throughout the THP-1 cell body (most obvious in the nuclei), which increased after LPS stimulation. In LO2 hepatocytes, CRP expression was found only outside the nuclei and increased after stimulation with the culture supernatant of LPS-treated THP-1 cells, especially obvious around the membrane.
CONCLUSIONCRP can not be up-regulated directly by LPS treatment in LO2 cells, but can be induced by certain cytokines (IL-6) secreted from LPS-stimulated THP-1 cells. The localization of CRP represents the characteristics of secreted protein in LO2 cells, but in THP-1 cells, CRP is found mainly in the cell nuclei.

Objective: To study the application of DSA in the diagnosis and treatment of ENT diseases. Methods: The diagnostic and therapeutic roles of DSA in ENT patients admitted from November 1995 to December 1999 were retrospectively studied. Results: Therapeutic vascular embolization using DSA was performed in 9/10 patients with severe epistaxis. The treatment was successful in 8/9 patients with a successful rate of 88.89%; embolization of tumor supplying vessels using DSA as a preoperative measure for reducing operative blood loss in 3 patients with nasopharyngeal fibrohemangioma obtained a total success; diagnosis was clarified in 2 patients using DSA. No patients were with severe complications. Conclusion: DSA is not only a safe and effective measure for diagnosis and therapy, but also effective in differential diagnosis of space occupying lesions. Preoperative selective embolization of tumor supplying arteries can reduce operative blood loss.

OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical efficacy and mechanism of Zhuyu Tongfu (ZYTF) Serial Recipe combined with acupuncture and massotherapy in treating hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage (HCH).
METHODSOne hundred and eighteen patients with hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage, on the basis of conventional Western medicine treatment, were randomly divided into ZYTF combined with acupuncture and massotherapy group (treated group) and simple Western medicine group (control group); the clinical efficacy, neurofunction deficit scoring (NDS) alterations and hematoma absorption rate of both groups were observed, and also the plasma superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, plasma lipid peroxidase (LPO) content, erythrocyte glutathion peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity, hematocrit (Ht) and the whole blood viscosity (Va) change were also observed.
RESULTSIn the treated group, the clinical efficacy, NDS improvement and hematoma absorption rate were superior to that of the control group; comparison between the two groups after treatment showed that plasma SOD activity and GSH-Px activity got more elevated and plasma LPO content, Ht and Va more lowered in the the treated group than those in the control group.
CONCLUSIONZYTF combined with acupuncture and massotherapy has better effect, its therapeutic mechanism was possibly correlated to the elevation of plasma SOD activity, GSH-Px activity and lowering of plasma LPO content, Ht and Va.
