To study the effects of tetrandrine (Tet) on hypertrophied myocardial hydroxyproline content and myosin ATPase activity, left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) was induced by renovascular hypertension (two-kidney, one-clip) in rats. Eight weeks after operation Tet 50 mg*kg-1*d-1 and enalapril(Ena) 6 mg*kg-1*d-1 were given by gavage for 8 weeks. The results showed that hydroxyproline content in LVH group was much higher than that of sham-operated one 〔(5.9±0.3) vs (3.6±0.4) mg*g-1 dry weight〕, and was decreased by 28.2% and 39.0% in Tet and Ena groups, respectively. Myosin ATPase activity in LVH group was much lower than that of sham-operated group 〔(0.43±0.09) vs (0.97±0.06) mmol Pi*min-1*g-1 protein, P<0.01〕. In Tet and Ena groups they were 60.5% and 118.6% higher than that of LVH group, respectively. The results suggest that Tet or Ena partially reduce the hydroxyproline content and elevate myosin ATPase activity of hypertrophied myocardium in renovascular hypertensive rats.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility of radical liver resection following downstaging of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE). Methods Eleven patients with HCC underwent radical liver resection after downstaging of HCC by TACE from January 1991 to June 2002, then the clinical features, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative complications and survival time were studied. Results All patients received the radical liver resection successfully, and the mean intraoperative blood loss and operative time of all the patients Was 1336.4ml (110-3200ml) and 272.8 minutes (210-390 minutes), respectively. Each of the 6 patients had an amount of blood loss more than 1000ml. The postoperative complications included bile leakage (3 patients) and ascites (1 patient), with total incidence of 36%. The median survival time was 61.5 months, and the number of patients survived for 1, 2, 3 years was 8, 7, 6, respectively. Conclusion Radical liver resection after downstaging of HCC by TACE is safe and feasible.

Objective To investigate the feasibility and evaluate the outcome of living donor.liver transplantation(LDLT) for hepatitis B virus(HBV)related acute liver failure(ALF)or subacute liver failure (SALF).Methods A retrospective analysis was done based on the clinical data of 10 patients with ALF or SALF who underwent LDLT from November 2000 to October 2007. All the liver grafts, including right lobe with middle hepatic vein(MHV)(n=8)and right lobe without MHV(n=2),were obtained from adult donors. The Drocess of donor evaluation was accomplished within 12 hours after making the decision of LDLT, and the donor and recipient operation was performed within 12 hours after signing the donor informed consent. The mean graft recipient weight ratio was(1.03±0.17)%(ranged from 0.86%to 1.22%),and graft volume to standard liver volume ratio was(52.2±11.8)%(ranged from 47.6%to 70.1%).Results Two recipients died of pulmonary infection and duodenal ulcer perforation on postoperative day 7 and 28,respectively.The rest 8 recipients were alive and well with a median 9.6 months(ranged from 2 to 84 months)follow-up.The postoperative complications included bile leakage in 1 recipient and acute cellular rejection in 2 recipients. No donor mortality occurred. One donor received splenectomy due to spleen rupture caused by acute portal hypertension. No complications was found in the 0ther 9 donors. Conclusions LDLT is an effective and safe option for HBV related ALF and SALF for the high median to long term survival rate.

Objective To observe the differences of cerebral activation pattern with resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) between patients with spasmodic torticollis (ST) and healthy controls, thus to investigate the pathogenesis of ST.Methods Nineteen ST patients and 21 age,sex and education-matched healthy controls, recruited from the Department of Neurology,First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University between November 2012 and January 2016,were included in this study.rs-fMRI and factional amplitude of low frequency fluctuation (fALFF) were used to obtain differences between patients with ST and healthy controls, and correlative analysis was made on fALFF values of abnormal brain regions and ST patients' symptom severity (Tsui scores). Results Compared with healthy controls, patients with ST had significantly increased fALFF in the left cerebellum and significantly decreased fALFF in the left posterior cingulate cortex/precuneus,right posterior cingulate cortex/precuneus,left middle temporal gyrus, right angular gyrus, left post-central gyrus, right supplementary motor area (t =-5.714-5.920,P <0.01),and abnormal brain regions' fALFF values had no correlation with patients' age of onset, disease course, symptom severity (P > 0.05).Conclusion Abnormal sensorimotor area, default mode network and cerebellum dysfunction may play a role in the pathophysiology of ST.

Objective To compare the therapeutic effect of inhaled aerosolized and intravenous milrinone,a phosphodiesterase-3 inhibitor in rats with oleic acid-induced acute lung injury (ALI) .Methods Forty male SD rats weighing 300-350 g were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=10 each) : group Ⅰ normal control: group Ⅱ ALI; group Ⅲ milfinone inhalation and group Ⅳ intravenous milrinone. The animals were anesthetized with intraperitoneal 2% pentobarbital 40 mg/kg,tracheostomized and mechanically ventilated (FiO2 30%,VT 10 ml/kg,RR 80 bpm,I:E=1:2).The chest was opened and the heart was exposed.Pulmonary artery was catheterized via fight ventricle.MAP,CVP,airway pressure and pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) were monitored.ALI was induced with 10% oleic acid 2 ml/kg administered through fight external jugular vein in group Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ.In control group 0.1% BSA solution 2 ml/kg was administered iv instead of oleic acid.In group Ⅲ at 30 min after oleic acid administration aerosolized milrinone 1 mg/ml was inhaled 4 times at 60 min interval. Each time milrinone was inhaled for 10 min.In group Ⅳ at 30 min after oleic acid administration a bolus of 10 μg/kg milrinone was given iv followed by 10 min milrinone infusion at 1 μ·kg-1·min-1.The same procedure was repeated 4 times at 60 min interval.MAP and PAP were recorded and blood samples were taken from carotid artery and pulmonary artery for blood gas analysis at the 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th treatment.PaO2/FiO2 and Qs/Qt were calculated. The animals were sacrificed by exsanguination after the 4th treatment. The lungs were removed. The left lung was lavaged.Neutrophil count and protein content in broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were determined.W/D lung weight ratio and lung myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity were measured. The uhrastructure of the lung was examined with electron microscope. Results The MAP was significantly lower after oleic acid adminstration in group Ⅳ than in other 3 groups.PaO2/FiO2 was significantly decreased and Qs/Qt increased by iv oleic acid in group Ⅱ ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ.PAP was significantly increased after iv oleic acid in group Ⅱ ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ but was significantly lower in group Ⅲ and Ⅳ than in group Ⅱ .The neutrophil count and total protein content in BALF,W/D ratio and lung MPO activity were significantly increased in group Ⅱ ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ as compared with control group(Ⅰ) and were significantly higher in group Ⅳ than in group Ⅲ.The lung damage induced by oleic acid was less serious in group Ⅲ and Ⅳ than in group Ⅱ .Conclusion Inhaled aerosoLized milrinone has better therapeutic effect than intravenous milrinone in rats with oleic acid-induced ALI and is safer.
