Objective To evaluate the value of left ventricular (LV) torsion for assessing left ventricular function in adult heart transplant patients using two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging. Methods Basal and apical LV short-axis view and apical LV long-axis view of two-demensional images were acquired in 30 heart transplant patients and 17 healthy volunteers. Using two-dimensional strain software,LV basal and apical rotation versus time profiles were obtained at their short-axis level respectively. LV torsion was defined as apical rotation relative to the base, so the LV torsion versus time profiles could be drawn. LV basal rotation, apical rotation, global torsion and their time to peak were respectively measured, and the rate of LV untwisting was calculated. Statistical analysis was used to find the difference between the two groups and to investigate the relationship between LV torsion or the rate of LV untwisting and echocardiographic parameters. Results LV apical rotation and LV global torsion in heart transplant group were significantly lower than those in normal group. LV global torsion inversely correlated with LV end systolic volume, positively with LV ejection fraction. There was no significant difference between the two groups in the rate of LV untwisting. The rate of LV untwisting didn't correlate with echocardiographic parameters. Conclusions LV torsion can be measured exactly by two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging, it can be used to quantify LV global systolic function in heart transplant patients.

ObjectiveTo study the effect of consolidated trunk muscle training on balance and motor function in patients with hemiplegia after stroke. Methods96 patients were divided into treatment group (48 cases) and control group (48 cases). All the patients received regularly rehabilitation, and the patients in the treatment group received the control ability training in the trunk muscle in addition. They were assessed with Trunk Control Test (TCT), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Modified Barthel Index (MBI), Functional Ambulation Category (FAC), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and walking speed (WS) before and after the treatment. ResultsThe scores of TCT, BBS, FAC, MBI, WS and FMA improved significantly in both groups after treatment (P<0.01), and improved more in the treatment group than in control group (P<0.05). The scores of TCT correlated with those of BBS, MBI, FAC, FMA, and WS (P<0.05). ConclusionThe consolidated trunk muscle training can obviously improve balance and motor function of stroke patients.

Objective To examine the expressions of multidrug resistance gene (MDR)-1 and P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma CNE1 cell line before and after X-ray exposure. Methods CNE1 cells were exposed to X-ray.After the irradiation, the CNE1 cells were cultured for 24 hours and tested. The mRNA expressions of MDR-1 in CNE1 cells were measured by semi-quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) before and after X-ray exposure, and the protein expressions of P-gp in CNE1 cells were detected by Western blotting. The protein expressions of P-gp in CNE1 cells were observed by confocal microscope before and after X-ray exposure. Results The results of RT-PCR showed that the absorbance (A) values of MDR-1 mRNA in CNE1 cells were 0.17 ±0.01 and 0.34 ±0.03 before and after irradiation, and the difference was statistically significant (t =16.541,P < 0.001).The results of Western blotting showed that the A values of P-gp protein in CNE1 cells were 0.02 ± 0.01 and 0.04 ± 0.01,and the difference was statistically significant (t =4.612,P =0.016).The green fluorescence intensity of P-gp protein in CNE1 cells after X-ray irradiation was higher than that before X-ray irradiation by confocal microscope. Conclusion X-ray irradiation can cause the high expressions of MDR-1 and P-gp in CNE1 cells, suggesting that X-ray irradiation can induce the occurrence of multidrug resistance in CNE1 cells.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the combination of gynecologic imaging reporting and data system (GI-RADS) uhrasonographic stratification and 3D contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (3D-CEUS) in identifying malignant lesions from benign ovarian masses. Methods Both of 2D ultrasound (2D-US) and 3D-CEUS were performed on 102 patients with ovarian masses. The perfusion characteristics of ovarian masses were observed with 3D-CEUS,and the 2D-US features of ovarian masses were analyzed based on GI-RADS.Simple and multiple Logistic regression analysis were used to investigate whether the independent risk predictors in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant ovarian could be confirmed. In addition,ROC curves were drawn. The diagnostic efficacy of GI-RADS combined with 3D-CEUS scoring system was evaluated and compared with that of only GI-RADS.Results Simple and multiple Logistic regression analysis confirmed that there were 8 independent predictors of malignant masses, including large papillary projections (≥7 mm),separated or wall thickness ≥3 mm,central blood flow, the proportion of solid part ≥50%,combination of ascites, high level enhancement, uneven distribution of contrast media in enhanced solid part and the vascular with characteristics as dense, tortuous and anfractuous. When using 4 points as the cut-off,the area under the curve (AUC) of GI-RADS combined with 3D-CEUS scoring system in identifying malignant ovarian masses was 0.969,higher than that of only GI-RADS (0.839;Z=1.64,P=0.029).Furthermore,the scoring system showed higher sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy (all P<0.001).Conclusion The combination of GI-RADS with 3D-CEUS can be more effective to distinguish malignant lesions from benign ovarian masses.

Objective To investigate the effectiveness of team-based learning(TBL)combined with research-based learning(RBL)in enhancing evidence-based nursing practice skills of undergraduate nursing interns. Methods A total of 114 undergraduate nursing students who interned in the operating room of a ⅢA hospital in Guangzhou from July 2021 to April 2022 were selected as study subjects.A randomized cluster sampling method based on a random number table was used to divide the students into a control group and a trial group. The control group received traditional teaching methods, while the trial group was taught using a combination of TBL and RBL.The two groups were compared in terms of evidence-based practice skills, critical thinking abilities, and their evaluations on the teaching methods. Results The differences in evidence-based practice skills and critical thinking abilities before and after the internship were significantly higher in the observation group compared to the control group(t=35.108,35.897;both P<0.05).Additionally,post-internship evaluation scores for the teaching methods in the trial group were significantly higher than those in the control group(t=-17.580,P<0.05).Conclusion TBL combined with RBL effectively enhances the evidence-based nursing practice skills and critical thinking abilities of undergraduate nursing interns. This approach also improves students'evaluations on the teaching methods and fosters the cultivation of excellent clinical evidence-based nursing professionals.
