OBJECTIVETo analyze the imaging characteristics of hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) and their correlation with histopathological findings.
METHODSCT and MRI imaging and histopathological characteristics of five patients with hepatic EHE were retrospectively reviewed and the correlation of their imaging characteristics with pathological findings was analyzed.
RESULTSA total of 92 lesions were found in the 5 patients, all presenting with multiple nodules. All the 92 lesions were located within a 2-cm zone heneath the hepatic capsule, i.e., the shortest distance from the horder of lesions to the hepatic capsule. 28 of the 92 lesions showed the "capsular retraction" sign. 36 lesions were found in three patients receiving MRI. 77.8% of the 36 lesions demonstrated the "halo" sign on a fat-suppression T2- weighted image, while 91.7% after contrast enhancement. A peripheral dark rim was found in 91.7% of the lesions on a fat-suppression T2-weighted image. In addition, 36.1% of the lesions showed slight internal or edge enhancement at the hepatohiliary phase. In the two patients receiving CT examination, 7 of 56 lesions demonstrated the "halo" sign.
CONCLUSIONSHepatic EHE may manifest as nodular lesions with predilection of peripheral subcapsular growth and nodular confluence, together with "halo" sign and " capsular retraction". The peripheral dark rim on a fat-suppression T2-weighted image and slight enhancement at the hepatobiliary phase can help to improve the accuracy of diagnosis and differential diagnosis of this hepatic tumor. MRI is superior to CT imaging to denict their intra-lesional characteristics.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignant tumors in the digestive system, with high morbidity and mortality. Early clinical symptoms of GC are not obvious, and most of them have entered the advanced stage after discovery, which greatly reduces the clinical cure rate and affects the quality of life of patients, and the prognosis is very poor. In recent years, with the continuous exploration in the field of bioinformatics, it has been found that micro-RNA (miRNA) and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) exist as non-coding RNA (ncRNA) without translation ability, and regulate the expression levels of related signal proteins by acting on a certain target, thereby activating or inhibiting a certain signaling pathway, which plays an important role in assisting diagnosis, guiding clinical medication, and judging prognosis in the progress of GC. Chinese medicine is easily accepted by patients because of its good curative effect and less side effects. In the present basic studies, with the interaction mechanism between miRNA, lncRNA and signaling pathways as the breakthrough point, various studies on the regulation of related signaling molecules and signaling pathways by Chinese medicine have been carried out. A large number of experimental data have proved that the development of GC is closely related to the interaction of miRNA, lncRNA, and related signaling pathways, and Chinese medicine, with multi-target, multi-mechanism, and multi-pathway characteristics, affects various signaling molecules and signaling pathways and intervenes in the progress of GC cells. This paper reviewed the basic research on lncRNA, miRNA molecules, and main signaling pathways involved in the occurrence and development of GC, and summarized specific molecular mechanisms of Chinese medicine in the regulation of each signaling pathway, hoping to provide references for modern research of Chinese medicine in the intervention of GC progress at the molecular level.

OBJECTIVE To study the effects of Tongxie yaofang reducing colon hypermotility in irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D) rats by regulating gut microbiota-enteric nervous system (ENS)-muscularis macrophages (MM) crosstalk. METHODS Forty newborn male SD rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, TCM group [Tongxie yaofang 2.68 g/(kg·d), calculated by raw material], and positive control group [Live combined bifidobacterium and lactobacillus tablets 0.27 g/(kg·d)], with 10 rats in each group. Except for the control group, the IBS-D model of liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome was induced in the other 3 groups with the method of mother-child separation+chronic restraint+Folium Sennae- induced diarrhea. After modeling, the administration groups were given relevant drug liquid intragastrically, once a day, for consecutive 2 weeks. At the end of modeling and after administration, the fecal properties (the incidence and the rate of loose stools), colonic motility (colon emptying time), and visceral sensitivity [abdominal withdrawal reflex (AWR) scores under different pressures] of rats were observed in each group. The concentration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in serum was detected after medication, and the expressions and distribution of bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2), colony stimulating factor 1 (CSF1) and Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) in colon tissue were detected; the diversity, species composition and differences of gut microbiota were also determined. RESULTS At the end of modeling, compared with the control group, all rats of the other three groups suffered from loose stools (100%), the rate of loose stools and AWR scores at different pressures increased significantly, and colon emptying time was shortened significantly (P<0.01 or P<0.05). The incidences of loose stools were 20% in TCM group and 80% in the positive control group; the rate of loose stools and AWR scores at different pressures, serum concentration of LPS and protein expressions of CSF1 and TLR4 in muscle layer of colon tissue in TCM group significantly decreased, compared with the model group; colon emptying time, the average optical density of BMP2 protein in muscle layer of colon tissue, and the indexes of Chao 1, Shannon and Faith’s PD and Simpson E-mail:772699670@qq.com index of rats in TCM group were all prolonged or increased significantly, compared with the model group (P<0.01 or P< E-mail:aiwangzi312@163.com 0.05). The relative abundance ratio of Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes, from low to high, was in the order of TCM group, control group, positive control group and model group; the species composition of gut microbiota in TCM group was closer to control group, with dominant bacterial genera including Prevotella and Blautia. CONCLUSIONS Tongxie yaofang can regulate the expressions of BMP2 and CSF1, the key proteins of gut microbiota-ENS-MM crosstalk, by changing the gut microbiota, thus alleviating the abnormal hyperfunction of colon motility in IBS-D rats.

BACKGROUNDThe incidence of thyroid cancer has been increasing. Our aim was to evaluate the efficacy of low-dose dual-phase helical computed tomography (CT) in the characterization of thyroid lesions, and to discuss the relationship between image characteristics and their pathology.
METHODSOne hundred and six patients with thyroid lesions underwent low-dose dual-phase helical CT after the injection of contrast material. CT scans were obtained at arterial and venous phase with delays of 25 and 65 seconds, and tube current of 60 and 120 mA, respectively. The attenuation change in the lesion between the arterial and venous phase was analyzed and categorized as "increased," "decreased," "mixed" or "no change."
RESULTSHistopathologic diagnosis was obtained by surgery in 106 patients (115 lesions). Of the 106 patients, 45 had nodular goiter, 5 thyroid adenoma, 6 thyroiditis, and 50 papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) (59 lesions). The attenuation value showed a significant difference (P < 0.05) between the arterial and venous phase for the high attenuation area. There was statistical significant difference in terms of attenuation value in high attenuation areas at both phases and in low attenuation areas on arterial phase between nodular goiter and PTC (P < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference in attenuation value between adenoma and PTC. Twenty-nine cases (76.3%) of goiter manifested mixed type, 3 cases (3/5) of adenoma showed decreased type, 6 cases (6/6) of thyroiditis showed increased type, and 55 cases (93.2%) of PTC showed decreased type attenuation. The sensitivity, specificity for thyroid carcinoma by dual-phase CT were 94.9% and 80.4% respectively. The overall diagnostic accuracy for thyroid lesions by dual-phase CT was 87.8%.
CONCLUSIONSThe performance of dual-phase helical CT is related to the pathological structure of the lesions. The analysis of enhancement patterns by using dual-phase helical CT will be helpful in the differential diagnosis of thyroid lesions.
