1.A Clinical Study on Conservative Treatment of Incomplete Pharmaceutical Abortion

Objective To study the clinical effects of conservative treatment of incomplete pharmaceutical abortion. Methods 149 cases of incomplete pharmaceutical abortion were randomly divided into two groups. Group A(86 cases) was intramuscularly given progesterone or orally medroxyprogesterone. Group B (63 cases)was given methotrexate intramuscularly or orally. The therapeutic effects of two groups were observed. Results The successful rate in group A and group B was 79 07%(68/86) and 96 82%(61/63). The successful rate of the patients with lower HCG level in group A and group B was 86 89%(53/61) and 100%(32/32) respectively, which had significant difference (P

This study examined the effects of exercise on behavior and peripheral blood leukocyte apoptosis in a rat model of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Thirty-six healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats were equally randomized into 3 groups: the control group, CFS model group and the exercise group in terms of body weight. A total of 25 rats entered the final statistical analysis due to 11 deaths during the study. CFS model was established by subjecting the rats in CFS model group and exercise group to electric shock, chronic restraint stress and cold water swim. Besides, rats in the exercise group took running wheel exercise. After a week of conditioning feeding, model construction and running wheel exercise were performed simultaneously, and lasted for 23 consecutive days. The behavior experiments, including running wheel exercise, open-field test, tail suspension test and Morris water maze test, were conducted, either before or after the model establishment. Rats were sacrificed and peripheral blood was obtained for the assessment of lymphocyte apoptosis index by flow cytometry (FCM). It was found that as compared with those in the control group, the weight of the rats was decreased obviously (P<0.01), the mobility time in the open-field and the tail suspension tests was shortened significantly (P<0.01), the time to locate the platform was enhanced (P<0.01) and the cell apoptosis index was increased substantially (P<0.01) in the CSF model group. Meanwhile, in comparison to the model group, the behavior in the open-field and the tail suspension tests was improved significantly (P<0.05), and the apoptosis index decreased remarkably (P<0.01) in the exercise group. It is concluded that sport intervention can prevent lymphocyte apoptosis and improve animal behavior rather than the memory.
3.Density and Affinity of IL-6 Receptors in Human Leukemic Cells

Objective: To make a study of density and affinity of IL-6R in human leukemic cell lines, and discuss the affection of high affinity IL-6R to the targeted treatment of leukemia with IL-6-PE40 fusion protein. Methods: Radial binding assay with scatchard plot and FACS were used to analysis the density and affinity of IL-6R and protein expression of IL-6Rα and β subunits in totally 8 representative human leukemic cell lines. Results: Myelocytie, monocytic and erythrocytic leukemic cell lines U937, HL-60, KG1 and TF1 express high affinity IL-6R, whose average density per cell is 2 502,2 874, 2 319 and 9 329 respectively, however no 125I-IL-6 binding was detected on chronic myelocytic leukemic cell line K562 and lymphoblastic leukemic cell lines such as Raji, CEM and HUT28. These results correlate with those of FACS highly. Conclusion:These observations suggest that acute nonlymphoblastic leukemic cells may be more suitable for targeted treatment with IL-6-PFA0 fusion protein.
4.Early cognitive function of rats with ischemic hypoxic brain injury during the neonatal period

Objective To establish an early cognitive disorder model in rats and investigate the early cognitive functioning after ischemic hypoxic brain injury during the neonatal period. Methods Forty-six newborn Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into a 21-d-old group and a 31-d-old group. These 2 groups were then subdivided into model and sham-operated subgroups (M21, n=12; SH21, n=11; M31, n=12; SH31, n=11). A model of neonatal early cognitive disorder was established in the rats of the M21 and M31 groups using a modification of Rice's method. Rats in the SH21 and SH31 groups received skin incisions and common carotid artery separation without ligation or hypoxia. Each group was tested with a Morris water maze. The rats were sacrificed after testing, and brain tissue was examined under the electron microscope. Nissl staining allowed Nissl body quantification and neurocyte acin the M21 group was significantly longer than in the SH21 group. The 31-d-old subgroups had shorter average escaping latencies than the corresponding 21-d-old subgroups. (b) Spatial memory: The average platform times, Ⅰ region times and Ⅰ region distances showed no significant differences among groups. ②Brain pathology (a) Gross appearance: Obvious ischemic hemisphere atrophy was observed in the M group, and no abnormality was observed in the SH group. (b) Electron microscopic observation: In the SH group cell ultrastructures in the ischemic hippocampus were normal. Karyopyknosis and dilated endoplasmic reticulums were found in the M group. More mitochondria were found in the presynaptic membranes of the ischemic hippocampus in the M group than that in the SH group. (c) Nissl body quantification and neurocyte activity analysis: Significantly less activity in the ischemic cortex was found in the M21 group compared to the SH21 group. More activity was observed in the 31-d-old subgroups than in the corresponding 21-d-old subgroups. Conclusions ①The neonatal rats with ischemic hypoxic brain injury had prolonged average escaping latency and depressed neuronal activity. ②The 31-d-old rats had better spatial localization learning ability than the 21-d-old rats.
5.Expression of Trem-1 and its significance in psoriasis vulgaris

Objective To study the expression of triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (Trem-1)in psoriatic vulgaris and normal skin tissues and blood,and to explore the potential pathogenesis of psoriasis.Methods Immunohistochemistry and Real-time PCR were used to detect the expression of Trem-1 in the blood and tissues of normal skin and psoriasis.Results The positive expression rate of Trem-1 in psoriatic lesion was significantly higher than normal tissue.Trem-1 was expressed in the whole epidermis,with a significant difference (P<0.05). The mRNA expression of Trem-1 was significantly higher in psoriatic skin tissues and blood than in normal skin tissues and blood (P<0.05).Moreover,the mRNA expression of Trem-1 was positively correlated with PASI (P<0.05).Conclusion Abnormal expression of Trem-1 might be related to the pathogenesis of psoriasis.Trem-1 will cure psoriasis vulgaris as the potential therapeutic target.
6.Cutaneous dendritic ceil-derived non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis: a new entity?

A 57-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for a 7-year progressively spreading plaques involving the entire body surface, and multiple irregularly sized red nodules and infiltrated patches on the face, trunk and limbs. Histopathological examination showed pleomorphic tumor cells diffusely dis-persed throughout the dennis, giving an appearance of low proliferation. Some cells with cytoplasmic pro-cesses appeared multiangular in shape, lmmunohistochemically, tumor cells were negative for CDla or S-100, but positive for CD45, FXIIIa, CDl4, MHC- Ⅱ, CD68 and lysozyme with extracellular interstitial expression. Ultrastructurally, the cells exhibited cytoplasmic processes and irregularly sized nuclei; no Birbeck granules were observed. Vesicules of low electron-density were seen diffusely in cytoplasm and extracellular matrix. The case is herein diagnosed as cutaneous non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis, which presents with a chronically invasive clinical course. These cells may develop from immature dermal dendritic cells.

8.Clinical efficacy of Yangjing Decoction on idiopathic asthenozoospermia.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical effect of the Chinese medicine Yangjing Decoction on idiopathic asthenospermia.
METHODSThis study included 62 patients with idiopathic asthenospermia diagnosed with the computer-assisted semen analysis system and other methods based on the WHO guidelines. The patients were equally randomized to a trial and a control group, the former treated with Yangjing Decoction at the dose of 400 ml bid, and the latter with Yougui Capsules tid, both for a course of 6 months. Then we analyzed the changes in sperm concentration and percentage of grade a + b sperm in the patients, as well as the pregnancy in their wives.
RESULTSCompared with the controls, the patients of the trial group showed a significantly elevated percentage of grade a + b sperm after 6 months medication (P < 0.01), though no statistically significant differences were observed in sperm concentration (P > 0.05). The total rate of effectiveness was 87.09% and 7 pregnancies were achieved in the trial group, as compared with 66.74% and 3 pregnancies in the controls (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONYangjing Decoction can significantly improve sperm vitality, and has a desirable effect on idiopathic asthenospermia.

9.The relevance between symptoms and magnetic resonance imaging analysis of the hippocampus of depressed patients given electro-acupuncture combined with Fluoxetine intervention - A randomized, controlled trial.

OBJECTIVETo probe the relevance between depressive symptoms and hippocampal volume and its metabolites detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in depressed patients who were given electro-acupuncture (EA) combined with Fluoxetine before and after treatment.
METHODSA randomized, controlled trial was conducted. A total of 75 cases of mild or moderate depression were randomly assigned to two groups: the EA group which received EA combined with Fluoxetine; the Fluoxetine group which received Fluoxetine only as the control. The 17-item Hamilton Scale for Depression (HAMD) was used to assess the depression level. The relevance between the changes of the hippocampal volume and its metabolites, including N-acetyl aspartate (NAA)/creatine (Cr) and choline containing compounds (Cho)/Cr, and the reduction rate of the HAMD score before and after treatment of the two groups were analyzed.
RESULTSAt the end of the treatment, the therapeutic response rates were not statistically different between the two groups (73.53% for the Fluoxetine group and 83.33% for the EA group, respectively). Compared to that of the Fluoxetine group, a significant difference was shown in the EA group in the reduction rate of the HAMD scores (P<0.05). There was a negative correlation between the therapeutic effect and the HAMD scores before treatment in both groups of patients. There was no significant difference in the hippocampal volume before and after treatment. The NAA/Cr ratio of both groups increased after treatment, with the EA group increasing more. There was a negative correlation between the rate of change of the NAA/Cr after treatment and the HAMD scores before treatment in the two groups. In the Fluoxetine group, the Cho/Cr ratio showed no significant difference before and after treatment, which had no relevance with the HAMD scores before treatment either. Meanwhile, in the EA group, the Cho/Cr ratio showed a significant difference before and after treatment, which also had a positive relevance with the HAMD scores before treatment.
CONCLUSIONSThere was a significant improvement in the hippocampal metabolites in depressed patients who treated by EA combined with Fluoxetine. Those differences showed relevance with the HAMD scores before treatment.

10.Expression of nucleolin in pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy rats.

OBJECTIVE:
To detect the expression of nucleolin in cardiac hypertrophy rats induced by pressure overload.
METHODS:
A total of 40 SD rats with body weight 180 g and 220 g were recruited and randomly divided into 2 groups: a transverse aortic constriction (TAC) group and a sham surgery group. Cardiac hypertrophy model was employed by transverse aortic constriction surgery. Then 2 weeks and 4 weeks after the experiment, the heart mass index (HMI), left ventricle mass index (LVMI) were measured. β-MHC mRNA in the heart tissue was detected with RT-PCR. Nucleolin in the heart, brain and kidney was respectively detected with Western blot.
RESULTS:
Compared with the sham surgery group, HMI, LVMI in the TAC group increased significantly (P<0.01) 4 weeks after the surgery; the expression of β-MHC mRNA in the heart tissue increased (P<0.05) in the TAC group 4 weeks after the surgery; and the expression of nucleolin protein in the heart tissue of the TAC group was remarkably upregulated (P<0.05) 2 weeks after the surgery, with no change in the brain and kidney tissue between the 2 groups.
CONCLUSION
Expression of nucleolin protein has been upregulated in response to pressure overload, which may suggest that nucleolin plays a role in cardiac hypertrophy induced by pressure overload.
