Objective To elucidate the malnutrition in patients with hospital-acquired acute kidney injury(AKI), and to examine the association betweensubjective global assessment (SGA) and prognosis. Methods Adult patients with hospital-acquired AKI were prospectively enrolled in this cohort study.Nutritional evaluations, including SGA, anthropometric and serum nutritional markers were conducted at enrollment.Overall survival at 90 days among different SGA scores was analyzed using Kaplan-Meier methods, and differences were tested using the log-rank test. The Cox model was used to analyze the relationship between SGA scores and all-cause mortality after adjusting for confounders. Results A total of 170 patients were enrolled. The prevalence of moderate malnutrition(SGA B) and severe malnutrition(SGA C) was 51.8% and 22.9% respectively, while patients with normal nutrition(SGA A) accounted for 25.3%.After 90 days follow-up, all-cause mortality was 9.8% in SGA A group, 34.9% in SGA B group and 56.8%inSGACgrouprespectively. Afteradjustingforage, sex, dialysis, ventilation, hemoglobin, platelets and bilirubin, the hazard ratio(HR) of 90 days all-cause mortality was 4.0(95% CI 1.42-11.22, P=0.008) in malnutrition group (SGA B group and SGA C group) compared with SGA A group. The Kaplan-Meier curve also revealed that the worse the SGA score was, the lower the cumulative survival became (P<0.01).Conclusion SGA score is an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality within 90 days in patients with hospital-acquired acute kidney injury.

Objective To evaluate the role of nutritional parameters in prognosis, especially in the early and late mortality of hospital-acquired acute kidney injury (AKI) patients. Methods This study was a prospective cohort study conducted in a hospital comprising 1500 beds in Shanghai, China. One hundred ninety-four patients with hospital-acquired AKI, as determined using the RIFLE staging criteria, were enrolled as subjects after obtaining informed consent.Patients with AKI caused by postrenal obstruction, glomerulonephritis, interstitial nephritis or vasculitis were excluded.Nutritional evaluation, including subjective global assessment (SGA),anthropometric and laboratory examination, was conducted. Other laboratory measurements and clinical data were recorded. The primary outcome was early mortality (≤ 7 days) and late mortality (8-28 days) after enrolling into the study. Results AKI patients at enrollment were characterized by a high prevalence of malnutrition as determined by SGA, anthropometric and laboratory examination.Univariate analysis showed that the SGA,the serum levels of prealbumin, cholesterol and total lymphatic cells, and the Maastricht index were significantly different among early mortality, late mortality and survival groups. The serum prealbumin and cholesterol levels in the early death group were significantly lower than those in the survival and late death groups (P<0.05).Multivariate analysis revealed that SGA,albumin, prealbumin and cholesterol remained independently and significantly associated with early mortality after adjusting for age, sex, dialysis, ventilation, hemoglobin, platelets, bilirubin, and Glasgow coma score. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve to predict early mortality for albumin, prealbumin and cholesterol were 0.591,0.736 and 0.603,respectively,with that of prealbumin significantly higher than others (P<0.05). Conclusion Low levels of serum prealbumin, albumin and cholesterol at enrollment are independtly associated with increased early mortality in hospital-acquired AKI patients.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between miR-501-5p expression and the clinicopathological factors in patients with lung adenocarcinoma in Xuanwei area.
METHODSSurgical specimens of lung adenocarcinoma and paired adjacent tissues from 24 patients with lung adenocarcinoma from Xuanwei area were examined for miR-501-5p expression using microRNA microarray technique and qPCR. Chi-square test was used to analyze the association of miR-501-5P expression with the clinicopathological characteristics of the patients. Multiple regression analysis was performed to analyze the association of miR-501-5p expression with the patients' gender, age, tumor stage, and preoperative CEA level.
RESULTSMicroRNA microarray analysis and qPCR validation results revealed significantly upregulated expressions of miR-501-5p in patients with lung adenocarcinoma from Xuanwei area (Plt;0.01). The microarray data showed an up-regulation of miR-501-5p by 3.17 folds in lung adenocarcinoma tissue compared with the adjacent tissue (P=0.22376, FDR=0.071395). Chi-square test indicated that miR-501-5p expression level was associated with the patients' age (f=7.168, P=0.014), TNM stage (f=36.627, P<0.01), and preoperative serum CEA level (f=30.045, Plt;0.01), but not with the patients' gender (f=3.612, P=0.071). Multiple regression analysis revealed that miR-501-5p expression was positively correlated with the patients' age, TNM stage of the tumor, and serum CEA (Plt;0.05).
CONCLUSIONmiR-501-5p expression is up-regulated in lung adenocarcinoma with significant associations with the patients' age, TNM stages and serum CEA level in patients from Xuanwei area, suggesting its potential role in the tumorigenesis and progression of lung adenocarcinoma in Xuanwei area.

OBJECTIVETo establish the solid phase extraction-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) method for qualitative and quantitative determination of several herbicides, fungicides and estrogens in drinking water.
METHODSDuplicate 1 L water samples were collected from various treatment processes of different water plants. Target pollutants were extracted by XAD-2 resin from water samples and were eluted by 30% acetone-methanol. GC/MS was employed for qualitative and quantitative analysis of target pollutants.
RESULTSThe linear ranges of standard curves of 6 target compounds including atrazine, alachlor, 4-cumyphenol, thiabendazole, β-estradiol and ethylestradiol were 0.1 - 10 µg/ml and the R(2) values were 0.9915 - 0.9995. The detection limits, the recovery rates, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) were separately 0.01 - 0.40 µg/L, 74.0% - 112.0% and 2.3% - 14.8%. Atrazine (0.11 - 0.13 µg/L), 4-cumyphenol (0.20 - 0.35 µg/L), thiabendazole (0.92 - 1.46 µg/L), β-estradiol (1.02 - 1.32 µg/L) and ethylestradiol (0.96 - 1.66 µg/L)were all detected in raw water, post-coagulation water, post-sedimentation water and finished water using Huangpu River as water source. Alachlor was not detected in any water samples in Huangpu River. The 6 target compounds were not detected in any water samples from the water plants using Yangtse River as water source.
CONCLUSIONThe methods with high sensitivity and satisfying selectivity are suitable to simultaneously qualitative and quantitative determination of target pollutants in drinking water. Concentrations of above-mentioned pollutants in drinking water coming from Huangpu River are obviously higher than in drinking water coming from Yangtze River. Thiabendazole, β-estradiol and ethylestradiol at the level of µg/L exist in drinking water coming from Huangpu River and more attention should be paid to surveillance of future.

Chinese Medical Sciences Journal 2020;35(3):254-261
Objective To compare the similarities and differences of early CT manifestations of three types of viral pneumonia induced by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), SARS-CoV (SARS) and MERS-CoV (MERS) using a systemic review. Methods Electronic database were searched to identify all original articles and case reports presenting chest CT features for adult patients with COVID-19, SARS and MERS pneumonia respectively. Quality of literature and completeness of presented data were evaluated by consensus reached by three radiologists. Vote-counting method was employed to include cases of each group. Data of patients' manifestations in early chest CT including lesion patterns, distribution of lesions and specific imaging signs for the three groups were extracted and recorded. Data were compared and analyzed using SPSS 22.0. Results A total of 24 studies were included, composing of 10 studies of COVID-19, 5 studies of MERS and 9 studies of SARS. The included CT exams were 147, 40, and 122 respectively. For the early CT features of the 3 pneumonias, the basic lesion pattern with respect to "mixed ground glass opacity (GGO) and consolidation, GGO mainly, or consolidation mainly" was similar among the 3 groups (=7.966, >0.05). There were no significant differences on the lesion distribution (=13.053, >0.05) and predominate involvement of the subpleural area of bilateral lower lobes (=4.809, >0.05) among the 3 groups. The lesions appeared more focal in COVID-19 pneumonia at early phase (=23.509, <0.05). The proportions of crazy-paving pattern (=23.037, <0.001), organizing pneumonia pattern (<0.05) and pleural effusions (<0.001) in COVID-19 pneumonia were significantly lower than the other two. Although rarely shown in the early CT findings of all three viral pneumonias, the fibrotic changes were more frequent in SARS than COVID-19 and MERS (=6.275, <0.05). For other imaging signs, only the MERS pneumonia demonstrated tree-in-buds, cavitation, and its incidence rate of interlobular or intralobular septal thickening presented significantly increased as compared to the other two pneumonia (=22.412, <0.05). No pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum and lymphadenopathy was present for each group. Conclusions Imaging findings on early stage of these three coronavirus pneumonias showed similar basic lesion patterns, including GGO and consolidation, bilateral distribution, and predominant involvement of the subpleural area and the lower lobes. Early signs of COVID-19 pneumonia showed less severity of inflammation. Early fibrotic changes appeared in SARS only. MERS had more severe inflammatory changes including cavitation and pleural effusion. The differences may indicate the specific pathophysiological processes for each coronavirus pneumonia.

National Journal of Andrology 2019;25(2):129-134
Objective:
To explore the relationship of sperm DNA fragmenation index (DFI) with semen parameters and assess its application value in the evaluation of semen quality.
METHODS:
A total of 9 694 semen samples were collected and examined for sperm DFI and high DNA stainability (HDS) by flow cytometry-assisted sperm chromatin structure analysis (SCSA). According to the WHO Laboratory Manual for the Examination and Processing of Human Semen (5th Ed), the samples were divided into a normal group and abnormal groups A (sperm concentration [SC]: [11.3-14.0] ×10⁶/ml, total sperm motility [TSM]: 30%-39%, progressively motile sperm [PMS]: 24%-31%), B (SC: [7.5-11.2] ×10⁶/ml, TSM: 20%-29%, PMS: 16%-23%), C (SC: [3.8-7.4] ×10⁶/ml, TSM: 10%-,19% PMS: 8%-15%) and D (SC: [0-3.7]×10⁶/ml, TSM: 0-9%, PMS: 0-7%), and also into three sperm DFI groups (DFI <15%, 15%-30% and >30%). The correlation between sperm DFI and seminal parameters was analyzed by Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analyses.
RESULTS:
DFI was dramatically lower in the normal than in the abnormal groups (P < 0.01), and increased in proportion to the decrease of semen parameters in the abnormal groups A, B, C and D (P < 0.01). Pearson correlation analysis showed that DFI was correlated positively with age (r = 0.15, P < 0.01), abstinence time (r = 0.10, P < 0.01), semen volume (r = 0.05, P < 0.01) and HDS (r = 0.15, P < 0.01), but negatively with semen pH (r = -0.06, P < 0.01), SC (r = -0.27, P < 0.01), TSM (r = -0.53, P < 0.01), PMS (r = -0.52, P < 0.01) and morphologically normal sperm (r = -0.16, P < 0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that TSM, SC, age, abstinence time and semen pH were five important variables associated with DFI, with standardized regression coefficients of -0.47, -0.19, 0.12, 0.07, and -0.04, respectively (all P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONS
There is a moderate correlation between sperm DFI and semen parameters, which can be used synergistically for the assessment of semen quality.

To optimize the ethanol extraction process for Shenlian formula. On the basis of the pharmacodynamics index for different extraction process routes, the contents of salvianolic acid B, tanshinone ⅡA and berberine, as well as the extraction ratio in different experimental schemes were used as the ethanol extraction examining indexes, and multi-criterion synthesizing grading method was used for data analysis to optimize and verify the ethanol-extraction process conditions in orthogonal experiment. The optimum ethanol extraction process was as follows: adding 60% ethanol, 10 times amount, extracting for 2.0 h each time for a total of 2 times. This extraction process showed good stability and availability.
