Objective To apply electrical impedance tnmography that is a new evaluation ap-proach to monitor the development of retroperitoneal injury. We used retroperitoneal inject blood model in pigs to study the feasibility on monitoring retroperitoneal bleeding and to provide premise in theory and practice for clinical application. Methods Five pigs were used on the experiment. We insert a vessel into the retroperitoneal and inject blood to simulate retroperitoneal bleeding. Sixteen electrodes were atta-ched on the abdominal region circumference of pigs and used for electrical current injection and surface voltage measurement. Then the monitoring images were performed by electrical impedance tomography. Results The images of electrical impedance tomography retroperitoneal inject blood model of five pigs were clear, the minimal impedance scale was decreasing significantly as the bleeding volume increasing and the images were changed significantly too. The computerized tomography and the dissecting results confirmed the blood was limited in retroperitoneal. Conclusions The establishments of pigs retroper-itoneal inject blood model was successful. The images of electrical impedance tomography retroperitoneal inject blood model were clear with significant contrast. It's feasible to use electrical impedance tomography system to monitor the retroperitoneal bleeding. This technique may become a useful tool for monitoring ret-roperitoneal injury in intensive care patients.

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of minimally invasive vitrectomy combined with cataract surgery for myopic foveoschisis in young and middle-aged. Methods Sixty myopic eyes with myopic fo-veoschisis diagnosed from September 2013 to October 2015 in our hospital were included in the study. According to different surgical methods ,patients were divided into two groups:combined operation group(vitrectomy combined with lens replacement surgery,30 eyes)and staged operation group(simple vitrectomy group,30 eyes). Cataract surgery were performed according to the opacity of lens. All the patients were followed up for 6~12 months. Reop-eration rate of staged operation group ,the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),the distant and near visual acuity and retinal reattachment rate of each group were observed. Every patient was interviewed with a questionnaire about visual quality at 6th month after surgery. Results 27 eyes developed lens opacity after operation(90%)in staged operation group, among them,21 eyes underwent secondary cataract surgery(70%). The BCVA recovery,postop-erative distant vision, and preoperative and postoperative distant vision difference in the combined operation group were significantly higher than those in the staged group(P<0.05). There were no significant differences in macu-lar retinal condition and retinal reattachment rate between the two groups(P > 0.05). Six months after operation, the visual quality of the combined operation group was significantly better than that of the staged group(t=-3.95, P = 0.00). In the combined surgery group, the scores of distant vision, stereopsis and visual fatigue were higher than those of staged operation group. The score of dry eye and night glare in staged operation group was higher than that in combined operation group(all P<0.05). Conclusions Vitrectomy combined with intraocular lens replace-ment for myopic foveoschisis in young and middle-aged people can avoid second operations and improves the visual function, proving to be a feasible operation in clinic.

Objective To explore the nutritional status and determinants among rural stranded children under 7 years of age. Methods The group of stranded children (n=7585) and the children for control (n=7557) were identified by multi-stage stratified cluster sampling. The ascertainment methods mainly included questionnaire, anthropometric measurements and laboratory examination. Results In this study, there were three groups, including the group of stranded children whose single parent left home to look for better job somewhere, the group of stranded children whose parent both left home and the third group serving as control. Prevalent rates on the following items were: stunting -- 14.9%, 17.9% and 16.3%, underweight -- 7.2%, 8.3% and 7.6%, wasting -- 3.1%, 3.4% and 3.3% and anemia -- 18.9%, 20.6%, 18.7% respectively. The prevalent rate of stunting in the group of children with both parents away from home was significantly higher than that those with only one parent did. The prevalence rate of anemia in the group with both parents away from home was significantly higher than that in the control group. Based on multivariate non-conditional logistic regression analysis, the determinants of stunting among the stranded children were: age, with low birth weight, living alone, being the only child in the family, mother's education level, frequency of eating breakfast and snacks every week, motives of caretakers and the relationship between children and the caretakers. The determinants of underweight among those stranded children were: age of child, with low birth weight, the frequency of eating snacks every week, motives of the caretakers and having rickets. Conclusion The nutritional status among rural stranded children was relatively poor, especially in those whose parents were both away from home, which calls for urgent improvement.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy, safty and economical values of immunonutrition for clinical nutritional support.
METHODSThe following electronic databases were searched: Chinese Biomedicine database (CBM), MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and SCI. Data were extracted by two reviewers. RevMan 4.1 was applied for statistical analysis.
RESULTSSeventeen randomised trials comparing the use of immunonutrition which comprises nucleotides, omega-3 fatty acids and arginine with standard enteral nutrition in surgical, trauma/burn and critical illness patients. Combined analysis indicated that the use of immunonutrition decreased infectious events (pooled OR was 0.51, 95%CI [0.38, 0.67], P = 0.00001), length of hospitalization, and the cost. In sensitivity analysis for mortality, we found an increased tendency in immunonutrition (pooled OR was 1.94, 95%CI [1.05, 3.57], P = 0.03). Further sub-group analysis indicated that the effects of immunonutrition were various in different patient types.
CONCLUSIONSImmunonutrition is associated with decreasing of infectious rates, length of hospitalization and cost in selective operation patients. But current evidence can't affirm the role of immunonutrition on critical illness patients. Further studies are urgently needed to clarify the reliability of immunonutrition in this group.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the administration of far-lateral approach in lesions located anterior or anterolateral to brain stem and upper cervical spinal cord.
METHODSTwenty-three patients underwent far lateral approach, including 12 retrocondylar approach, 5 partial transcondylar approach, 3 transfacetal and partial transcondylar approach, 2 transtubercular approach and 1 complete transcondylar approach.
RESULTSTotal tumor removal was achieved in 15 patients, subtotal removal in 5 patients, 3 vertibral artery aneurysms were clipped successfully, 3 patients were given occipitalcervical fusion. There was no operative mortality. The most frequent complications were lower cranial nerve deficit, CSF leakage, injury to vertibral artery, and ischemia of brain stem, cerebellum or spinal cord. No patient presented clinical instability of the occipitocervical junction after surgery.
CONCLUSIONSThe far-lateral approach is an ideal approach to structures located ventral to cranial-cervicle junction. But some of the surgical steps are technically difficult and carry some degree of risk. The choice of approach depends on the pathological feature and degree of exposure required for effective surgical treatment. Bone removal should be quantified for individual lesion. The approach may be limited to less aggressive steps, while still achieving significant exposure and surgical space.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2005;22(4):663-667
The contour line of human brain was simulated by the curve-fitting methods and then the inner area was discretized by advancing-front methods which was improved at last. The curve-fitting result was similar to the CT picture of the human brain and the discrete result of inner area could be completed quickly by improved advanced-front methods. A finite element model with the contour line of human brain was built primarily which will contribute to the next algorithm study of electrical impedance tomography in human brain.
