China Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology 2015;28(10):924-927
OBJECTIVETo study effects of autogenous femoral head bone grafting combined with total hip replacement for the treatment of old center dislocation of hip joint, and to evaluate the superiority of acetabular defect reconstruction with autogenous bone.
METHODSFrom March 2008 to December 2013, 16 patients (16 hips) with old center dislocation of hip joint were treated with autologous bone graft combined with total hip replacement. There were 11 males and 5 females, ranging in age from 41 to 72 years old, with an average of 56.3 years old. The duration of the disease ranged from 3.6 to 37.2 years. Twelve patients had injuries caused by traffic accidents and 4 patients were caused by falling down. The hip joint pain at the first month after operation, Harris score and hip joint movement of all patients were observed by using electronic case follow-up system.
RESULTSAll the patients were followed up, and the duration ranged from 11 to 78 months, with an average of 27.3 months. The postoperative hip joint movement of (56.2±23.4)° VAS 86.3±7.2 and Harris score 32.6±12.6 were all better than preoperative (181.8±17.6)°, 11.1±2.6 and 86.3±7.2. The joint pain was reduced and the function limitation was improved after operation, and the prosthesis position was good.
CONCLUSIONWhen the autologous femoral head bone grafting combined with total hip arthroplasty is used to treat old hip central dislocation, the initial and long-term stability of acetabular bone grafting is good, and the technique can avoid allogeneic bone complications, bone source rationally and reduce the economic burden of patients.

Objective To explore the optimal treatment options of Stanford type B aortic dissection. Methods A to?tal of 51 patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection who visited the General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University from May 2008 to March 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. Survival and recovery of patients were evaluated by follow ups. Pa?tients were divided to TEVAR group(40 cases)and conservative group(11 cases)according to the treatment they recieved. Results Operations were successful in all 40 patients. There were two cases of perioperative death(5%). And none of pa?tients died in TEVAR group during follow-up. One case among 11 patients who received conservative treatment dead in hos?pital(9.1%)while other 7 cases died during follow-up(63.6%). Kaplan-Meier survival curve showed that two-year survival rate of TEVAR group was significantly higher than that of conservative group. In TEVAR group, the maximum diameter of the aorta presented a decreasing trend and thrombosis was seen in artificial lumen with time going after operation. Conclu?sion For patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection, TEVAR presented a high success rate and promoted remodeling of the aortic genuine and aritificial lumen. What’s more, it can significantly improve patient’s survival rate and recovery in short or mid-term period compared with effect of traditional conservative treatment.

Filamentous fungi have been used in industrial fermentation extensively. Based on non-phosphorylating electron transport process, alternative respiration pathway (ARP) acts as an energy overflow, which can balance carbon metabolism and electron transport, allow the continuance of tricarboxylic acid cycle without the formation of ATP, and permit the turnover of carbon skeletons. Alternative respiration pathway also plays an important role in the stress response of fungi and the physiological function of conditioned pathogen. Alternative oxidase (AOX) is the terminal oxidase responsible for the activity of alternative respiration pathway, which exists widely in higher plants, parts of fungi and algae. Owing to the property that alternative oxidase (AOX) is sensitive to salicylhydroxamic acid (SHAM) and insensitive to conventional inhibitors of cytochrome respiration, alternative respiration pathway by AOX is also named as cyanide-resistant respiration (CRR). In recent years, the study of the alternative respiration pathway and alternative oxidase has been a hot topic in the area involving cellular respiration metabolism. In this review we summarized the latest research advances about the functions of alternative respiration pathway and alternative oxidase in industrial fungi.

Chinese Journal of Clinical and Experimental Pathology 2014;(12):1339-1341
Purpose To explore the relationship between tumor suppressor in lung cancer 1 (TSLC1) protein expression and the carci-nogenesis and progression of human gastric carcinoma. Methods Expression of TSLC1 protein in 20 normal gastric mucosa, 30 intra-epithelial neoplasias ( IN) and 50 gastric cancers was examined by immunohistochemistry. Results The expression of TSLC1 in gas-tric cancer was 14. 00% which was lower than that in IN (46. 67%) and normal gastric mucosa (95. 00%, P<0. 05). TSLC1 ex-pression in high-grade IN was lower than that in low-grade IN and normal gastric mucosa (P<0. 05). TSLC1 expression in high-grade IN and gastric cancer was of no significant difference ( P>0. 05 ) . Expression of TSLC1 was significantly associated with lymph node metastasis and TNM in gastric cancer (P<0. 05). Conclusion The expression of TSLC1 is closely related to carcinogenesis, lymph node metastasis and clinical stage in gastric cancer, which suggest that TSLC1 may be a new target for the prevention and treatment of gastric cancer.

Objective To evaluate the application value of percutaneous transsplenic varices embolization(PTSVE)in the treatment of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage in patients with schistosomiasis cirrhosis. Methods Sixteen schistosomiasis cir-rhosis patients(12 males and 4 females)with portal hypertension complicated with esophageal and upper gastrointestinal hemor-rhage were selected as the investigation subjects, all the patients had been treated by esophageal vein ligation and sclerothera-py,but with bleeding again post-operation. The patients were treated by PTSVE under the guidance of X-ray fluoroscopy. The success rate of PTSVE and the rate of complications were observed. In addition, the patients received PTSVE were reexamined with abdominal CT one month post-operation,and the degrees of varices were compared before and after PTSVE. Results Four-teen cases(87.50%)were successfully treated with PTSVE. Two cases(12.50%)failed,and one case had an abdominal bleed-ing 1 week post-operation. The abdominal CT showed the degrees of esophageal varices(P < 0.001),esophageal vein(P <0.001)and gastric varices(P < 0.001)were significantly decreased in the patients who received PTSVE one month after the op-eration. Conclusions PTSVE is a safe and effective method in the treatment of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage in the pa-tients with schistosomiasis cirrhosis. PTSVE is especially suitable for the patients with severe liver cirrhosis, significantly bor-dered liver split, and bared main portal vein and even the branches.
