Epilepsy is one of the common diseases in the nervous system with its complicated pathogenesis still remains unknown.The drug resistance mechanism of intractable epilepsy has always been a key point in the research of neuroscience.A possible cause for the drug resistance is the over expression of efflux drug transporters,e.g.ATP-binding cassette transporters,which may decrease extracellular antiepileptic drugs levels in brains of intractable epilepsy patients.ATP-binding cassette transporters are super family of transporter proteins that require ATP hydrolysis for the transport of substrates across membranes,including P-glycoprotein,multidrug resistance-associated protein,major vault protein and breast cancer resistance associated protein.They are major impediment for the AED successful treatment of many forms of refractory epilepsy in human.This paper reviews the research progress on over-expression of ATP-binding cassette transporters and mechanism of drug resistance in intractable epilepsy.

Objective To evaluate the value of serum granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF),interlukin-8(IL-8)and white blood cell count(WBC)in detecting acute surgical bacterial infections.Methods A total of 36 patients with infections and 32 with traumatic diseases admitted in Beijing Tongren Hospital without use of antibiotics before admission were recruited,as well as 30 normal healthy controls.Three milliliters of peripheral blood were collected from each of them.Serum G-CSF and IL-8 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results Of all the 68 patients,serum G-CSF Was(82±71)ng/L in average in those with infections,significantly higher than that in those with trauma(15±7)ng/L(P＜0.01)and controls(7±4)ng/L(P＜0.01).Conclusions Serum G-CSF may be used as a sensitive indicator for acute surgical bacterial infections.

Objective To explore the optimal treatment options of Stanford type B aortic dissection. Methods A to?tal of 51 patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection who visited the General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University from May 2008 to March 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. Survival and recovery of patients were evaluated by follow ups. Pa?tients were divided to TEVAR group(40 cases)and conservative group(11 cases)according to the treatment they recieved. Results Operations were successful in all 40 patients. There were two cases of perioperative death(5%). And none of pa?tients died in TEVAR group during follow-up. One case among 11 patients who received conservative treatment dead in hos?pital(9.1%)while other 7 cases died during follow-up(63.6%). Kaplan-Meier survival curve showed that two-year survival rate of TEVAR group was significantly higher than that of conservative group. In TEVAR group, the maximum diameter of the aorta presented a decreasing trend and thrombosis was seen in artificial lumen with time going after operation. Conclu?sion For patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection, TEVAR presented a high success rate and promoted remodeling of the aortic genuine and aritificial lumen. What’s more, it can significantly improve patient’s survival rate and recovery in short or mid-term period compared with effect of traditional conservative treatment.

In recent years,morbidity of thyroid carcinoma is rising,but its mortality decreased because of the standardized diagnosis and treatment.Pecially to the development and improvement of the surgical treatment.In this field,there has not reached the common understanding at present.In this article we review the extent of surgery,re-operation of the thyroid carcinoma,neck lymph dissection,131I ablation and thyroid hormone suppression therapy.

To assure the clinical quality and requirement of CT shelter used in field environment, the factors related with the practical application were studied. The evaluation indicators of CT equipment were investigated. Based on the technical modification of vehicle shelter CT, the scanning conditions of shelter CT were analyzed. Moreover, the comparative study was done between shelter CT and common CT in hospitals. In result, in order to meet maneuverability application in the field, vehicle shelter CT was restrictive by the field conditions, traffic impacts and running requirement. The application of vehicle shelter CT was affected by the factors, such as mechanical stabilization, moving precision, power fluctuations and variations of temperature and humidity, etc. The results were helpful to improve the clinical quality of vehicle shelter CT and made a base for the quality control study in the future.

Background Proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR) is a tissue repair prevention and treatment of PVR in clinic.Natural delayed release microballoons are therefore becoming a hot spot for its easy manipulation,large lading dose and long acting duration.Objective This study was to evaluate the effect of 5-fluorouracil natural delayed release microballoons on the prevention of PVR.Methods The lymphocytes were collected from clean pigment rabbit to prepare the 8×107/ml cell suspension with complete culture fluid.PVR models were established in 45 healthy pigment rabbits by intravitreal injection of lymphocyte suspension.The animals were randomly divided into 3 groups and 15 rabbits for each.0.1ml normal saline,10g/L or 20g/L 5-fluorouracil natural delayed release microballoons were injected into vitreous cavity respectively.PVR was graded on Fastenberg's method under the slit lamp in 1,2,4,8 weeks.The animals were sacrificed and retinas were obtained for the histopathological and ultrastructural examination in the eighth week after administration of drug.Results The numbers of eyes with different grades of PVR were significantly different among 3 groups in 1 week,2,4,8 weeks(P＜0.05).The eye numbers with PVR was significant less in 20g/L Fu group than those of 10g/L Fu group and normal saline group(P＜0.05).There was statistical difference in PVR ranking among these 3 groups in 8 weeks after injection of drug(H=46.795,P＜0.05).The morphology and ultrastructure of retinas under the light microscope and transmission electron microscope were near normal in all of the three groups.Conclusion Implantation of 5-fluorouracil natural delayed release microballoons into vitreous cavity is effective and safe in preventing PVR in experimental model,and the therapeutic effect of microballoons with 20g/L 5-Fu is better.

Objective To investigate the association of Galectin-3 ( lectin, galactoside-binding soluble , LGALS3)gene-191(rs4644)polymorphism and breast cancer in Chinese female population .Methods Galectin-3 gene rs4644 polymorphisms was genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymor-phism(PCR-RFLP)in 172 breast cancer patients and 17 controls.The experimental results of PCR-RFLP were verified and sample of 10 cases were sequenced randomly .Results The frequency of CC ,CA and AA genotype in breast cancer group and normal control group was 72.7%, 25.0%, 2.3% and 52.9%, 41.2%, 5.9%, respectively .The frequency of C and A allele in breast cancer group and normal control group was 85.2%, 14.8%and 73.5%, 26.5% respectively .The genotype and frequency of allele had no statistical difference between breast cancer patients and the control group .rs4644C allele was more likely to occur in breast cancer patients with T>2 cm (χ2 =8.295,P=0.004) and Ki67<14%(χ2 =3.917,P=0.048).Conclusions There is no significant association between Galectin-3 gene 191 polymorphism rs4644 and susceptibility of breast cancer in Chinese female population .It is closely associated with the size of tumor and Ki 67.

Drug-induced liver injury(DILI) is one of the major causes of termination of drug development.The establishment of a high-throughput test system to predict potential clinical hepatotoxicity is a valuable approach in the pharmaceutical industry.The high-content imaging-based in vitro assays allow simultaneous detection of cellular multiple parameters in the system.The real-time monitoring of multiple signaling pathways can shed light on many mechanisms of cell injury,with high sensitivity and specificity.Many types of liver cell models have been applied to high-content screening(HCS) so far.This paper introduceds the HCS technology and reviews the data of hepatotoxicity obtained from HCS technology in recent years.At the same time,we discuss the application of this technology in exploring the mechanism of hepatotoxicity and the potential of HCS technology in studying DILI and mechanisms.

The reverse problem of Electrical impedance tomography(EIT) is a highly ill-posed problem.It is concluded that spatial prior information could improve the final image quality.This paper proposes a new method for obtaining prior information.By this method,the inspected cross-section contour and internal structure for EIT can be achieved.

OBJECTIVEThis paper aims to study the effects of gossypol acetic acid (GAA) on proliferation and methylation level of human MutL homologue 1 (hMLH1) gene in human tongue cancer cell line Tca8113.

METHODSThe MTT assay was used to determine the effects of the acid on the proliferation inhibition in Tca8113 cells treated with different GAA concentrations. Nested methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (nMSP) was used to detect the change in the methylation level of hMLH1 after 48 and 72 h with 30 and 15 micro mol L(-1) GAA treatment.

RESULTSMTT assay results showed the growth and proliferation inhibition of Tca8113 cells in the experimental GAA group after 24 h to 72 h of GAA treatment. The nMSP results indicated that the average optical density of hMLH1 in the Tca8113 cells significantly changed after the GAA treatment (30 micro mol L(-1) GAA for 48 h and 15 micro mol L(-1) for 72 h) (P<0.05) compared with that of the control group.

CONCLUSIONGAA does not only inhibit Tca8113 proliferation but also has a demethylation effect on the hMLH1 gene. These phenomena may be part of an underlying tumor-suppression mechanism of GAA.
