Red cell concentrates (Hct≥90%) weresuspended in SAGS medium(RCS.contain-ing sodium chloride, adenine, glucose, sucrose),and in H(?)gman's SAGM me-dium (containing sodium chloride, adenine, glucose, mannitol). Both were stored at4?2℃ for 35 days and compared withbiochemical tests. The results of posttrans-fusion survival,ATP,2,3-DPG,pH,K~+ tests between the two preparationswere similar, and the mean values ofinvitro hemolysis of SAGS-RCS was signi-ficantly lower than that of SAGM-RCS,i。e.1.71?0.95g/L and 3.10?0.19g/L res-pectively (P

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(11):966-967
Hepatocyte growth factor(HGF) is a mesenchyme-derived pleiotropic factor which regulates cell growth, cell motility, and morphogenesis of various types of cells, and is thus considered a humoral mediator of epithelial-mesenchymal interactions responsible for angiogenesis, apoptosis and oxidative stress, etc. This article reviewed the relationships between HGF and cardiovascular diseases.

Objective To measure the renal tissue texture or flexibility with virtual touch quantization (VTQ) and to tentatively examine its clinical application in patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD).Methods A total of 750 patients (1500 kidneys) were performed with VTQ,including 400 cases in the control group, and 350 cases in the CKD group.A conventional ultrasound examination (two-dimensional,color Doppler) were first taken, and then the shear wave velocity (Vs) was measured which reflected the textural elastic. Results In both groups the Vs was the highest in renal cortex with significant difference (P<0.05); renal cortical region Vs in CKD group was lower than those in control group (P<0.05),while Vs of renal medulla and renal sinus had no significant difference in the two groups. The severity of renal dysfunction was increased along with a Vs decrease of renal cortex. Conclusion VTQ is helpful to assess renal function of patients with CKD.

OBJECTIVETo investigate whether myocardial bridging (MB) is independently associated with coronary atherosclerosis proximal to MB in the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) identified by computed tomographic coronary angiography (CCTA).
METHODSFrom March 2011 to December 2012, patients (n=9 862) with suspected coronary disease underwent CCTA using dual-source CT scanner. The baseline clinical characteristics (age, gender, smoking history, presence of hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, family history of heart attack, and body mass index) and the results of CCTA were reviewed. Two radiologists evaluated the coronary artery for MB and coronary atherosclerosis stenosis (CAS) in LAD and made a diagnosis by consensus. Significant independent risk factors for CAS were investigated by multivariate logistic regression analysis.
RESULTSA total of 3 182 (32.3%) cases of MB and 3 359 cases of CAS of LAD were identified. No patient with CAS in the tunneled segment was found. The mean length of bridges and the mean thickness of the overlying myocardium was (17.3±5.2) mm and (1.2±0.9) mm, respectively. There were 1658 MB cases in 3 359 cases of LAD stenosis and 1 524 MB cases in 6 503 cases of no LAD stenosis (χ(2)=681.12, P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that MB in the LAD were significantly associated with CAS in the proximal LAD (OR=3.07, 95%CI=2.81-3.37, P<0.001), and after final adjustment for age, gender, body mass index, family history of heart attack, smoking, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, and resting heart rate (OR=2.86, 95% CI=2.60-3.16, P < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONMB in the LAD is independently associated with CAS in the proximal segment to MB.

AIM: To evaluate the effect of orthokeratology on progression of juvenile myopia and analysis its influencing factors.METHODS: Totally 97 patients (189 eyes, aging from 8 to 17 years old) who received orthokeratology lenses treatment in our hospital from January 2012 to December 2014,were followed up for 2a.The visual acuity, corneal curvature, diopter, and ocular axial length were observed.Factors of influencing myopia progress in juvenile were analyzed.RESULTS: At 1mo after receiving orthokeratology contact lenses, the visual acuity and corneal curvature were changed compared with that of before(P<0.001).After 2a of receiving orthokeratology contact lenses, the difference was significant compared with baseline: spherical equivalence (-0.51±0.64D,t=10.864,P<0.001),axial length(0.33±0.31mm,t=14.879,P<0.001),corneal astigmatism (-0.25±0.43D,t=5.375,P<0.001).Statistic analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between the spherical equivalence and age, baseline of diopter or ocular axial length(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Orthokeratology can effectively improve the visual acuity of patients.Although there is slightly progression in diopter and ocular length after 2a of wearing orthokeratology contact lenses.Orthokeratology is an effective treatment on controlling progression of juvenile myopia, especially in the elder children who with the longer basic axial length and the greater diopter.

OBJECTIVETo observe features of Icariin in promoting osteogenic differentiation of SD rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) in vitro.
METHODS(1) SD rats' BMSCs were isolated and purified by mechanically isolated and cultured by whole bone marrow adherent method. Effects of various concentrations Icariin on serum activities of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were detected using amino antipyrine phenol determination method at day 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 21. Calcium nodes of each groups were detected using alizarin red staining. Roles of various concentrations Icariin in promoting osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs were observed. (2) BMSCs were divided into the blank control group, the osteogenic induced group, and the Icariin group (0.5 microg/mL). ALP activities were detected at day 7, 14, and 21 of culture. Meanwhile, ALP positive staining rate and calcium nodes were detected at day 14 and 21 respectively. Additionally, mRNA expressions of Runt-related transcription factor-2 (Runx2) and Osteocalcin were detected at day 7, 14, and 21 by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR.
RESULTS(1) 0.05-5.0 microg/mL Icariin could significantly elevate serum ALP activities. Of them, 0.2-2.0 microg/mL Icariin significantly increased calcium nodes numbers (P < 0.01). (2) When Icariin promoted osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs, Runx2 mRNA expression levels and ALP activities increased earlier and then decreased, while osteocalcin mRNA expression levels continued to increase (P < 0.01). Compared with the osteogenic induced group, ALP activities and ALP positive staining rate were both elevated after 14 days of Icariin treatment in the Icariin group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSIcariin could promote the differentiation of BMSCs to osteoblasts by up-regulating Runx2 mRNA expression levels. It also could promote the mineralization by increasing ALP secretion and Osteocalcin mRNA expression levels, thereby promoting mature of newly generated osteoblasts.
