Metastatic epidural compression of the spinal cord is a significant source of morbidity in patients with systemic cancer. With improvment of oncotheray, survival period in the patients is improving and metastatic cord compression is en- countered increasingly often. Surgical management performed for early circumferential decompression for the spinal cord com- pression with spine instability, and spine reconstruction performed. Patients with radiosensitive tumours without spine instabili- ty, radiotherapy is an effective therapy. Spinal stereotactic radiosurgery and minimally invasive techniques, such as vertebro- plasty and kyphoplasty, percutaneous pedicle screw fixation, radiofrequency ablation are promising options for treatment of cer- tain selected patients with spinal metastases.

Microbiology 2008;0(12):-
Microbiology experiment existing independently from microbiology theoretical curriculum is an indispensable compulsory course in contemporary life science. This article presents the principle applied by the National Excellent Microbiology Course teaching group in Nankai University, which is to strengthen the undergraduates’ basic skills of conducting microbiology experiments. With an aim to enhance the core competitiveness of the undergraduates, we have established the three-level experimental contents. A new multilevel teaching pattern focusing on basic skill training as the cornerstone has been applied to enhance the overall competences of the students and to stimulate their innovation abilities. Students’ experimental accomplishment will also be taken into consideration when their experiment results are evaluated, which helps to standardizing their research ethics.
9.Discussion of correlative factors and risk in patients with diabetic erectile dysfunction.
National Journal of Andrology 2002;8(6):395-397
OBJECTIVESTo probe into the pathogenesis, prevention and treatment way of diabetic erectile dysfunction (DED).
METHODSThe age, course, blood pressure, history of drink and smoke, relationship with DED were investigated in 126 DED patients of 320 diabetes mellitus.
RESULTSThe prevalence of DED in male diabetic patients was 39.4% (126/320). It was found by the analysis of Logistic regression that the values of OR rise to 1.8467, 1.2614, 1.4508, 1.3212, 1.2065, 5.3464 (P < 0.01), along with adding of 5 years in course, 10 years in ages, 2% in HbA1C, 4 kPa in systolic blood pressure, positive history of smoking and drinking respectively.
CONCLUSIONSDrinking is the most dangerous factor among all risk factors for occurrence of DED. It is very important to control blood pressure well, and to give up tobacco and drink in preventing occurrence of DED.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2002;27(10):739-742
OBJECTIVETo study the volatile regularity of menthol and borneol in granule and lozenge at different temperature.
METHODKinetic method with GC being detection technique.
RESULTThe volatility of menthol and borneol acts as a pseudo first-order reaction in open system. Under the same condition, the volatile rate of menthol and borneol in granule is four times as fast as that in lozenge, and the volatile rate of borneol is faster than that of menthol.
CONCLUSIONThis study can be applied to improve the quality of lozenges containing menthol or/and borneol.
