Objective:Glucose-insulin-potassium(GIK) is clinically used for reducing mortality in acute myocardial infarction(MI). It is known that ventricular arrhythmia, left ventricular dysfunction and impaired baroreflex sensitivity(BRS) are the three major determinants for predicting the mortality after acute MI. The present work was designed to study the effects of GIK on BRS, ventricular arrhythmia, and left ventricular function in rats with coronary artery ligature. Sprague-Dawley rats were used and the myocardial infarction was produced by ligature of the left anterior descending artery. Five weeks after coronary artery ligation, BRS was measured in conscious state with a computerized blood pressure monitoring system and left ventricular function and electrocardiogram were determined in the anaesthetized state in the subacute phase of myocardial infarction. It was found that GIK did not affect the blood pressure and heart period in both conscious and anaesthetized rats. GIK did not enhance BRS, but reduced ventricular arrhythmia and improved left ventricular function by reducing left ventricular end diastolic pressure in anaesthetized rats with MI. It is proposed that reducing ventricular arrhythmia and improving left ventricular function contribute to the effect of GIK on reducing the mortality after MI.

Objective To evaluate the expression and relationship of miR-100 and FZD-8, one of the major compo?nents of Wnt signaling pathway, and the correlation of their expressions with lymph node metastasis in patients with breast cancer. Methods The expression of miR-100 was determined in 50 samples of human breast cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues by in situ hybridization. The correlation of miR-100 expression with lymph node metastasis was analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test. The expression of FZD-8 was measured in 50 samples of human breast cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues by immunohistochemistry. The correlation of the miR-100 expression with the protein expression of FZD-8 was evaluated by Pearson rank analysis. Results The expression of miR-100 was significantly lower in human breast can?cer tissues than that in adjacent normal breast tissues [2.00 (1.00, 3.00) vs. 6.00 (3.50, 8.00)]. The miR-100 expression was lower in patients with lymph node metastasis than that in patients without lymph node metastasis [1.50 (1.00, 2.75) vs. 3.00 (2.00, 4.00)]. The expression of FZD-8 was significantly higher in human breast cancer tissues than that in adjacent normal breast tissues [8.00 (6.00, 9.00) vs. 6.00 (3.75, 9.00)]. The miR-100 expression was negatively correlated with the FZD-8 pro?tein expression in human breast cancer tissues (rs=-0.592, P<0.001). Conclusion The miR-100, as an anti-metastasis-miRNA, may involve in the metastasis of breast cancer, which may be related with the regulation of the expression of FZD-8.

BACKGROUND: Most studies suggest tooth whitening can create a coarse enamel surface which is likely to attract exogenous dyeing material and form the phenomenon of color relapse. After dental bleaching procedure, the use of resin surface treatment agent is expected to make the enamel surface smooth and alleviate tooth color relapse. OBJECTIVE: To unravel the efficacy of Adper Single Bond 2 Adhesive on color relapse phenomenon after dental bleaching treatment by cold light (xenon laser) whitening.METHODS: Twenty-four extracted teeth were collected and coated with 35% hydrogen peroxide followed by xenon laser whitening. The test group was made up of 12 samples coated with light-cured resin surface treatment agent and the left samples as control group were treated with no-coating agent after tooth whitening. Then the two groups were divided into two subgroups which were soaked in distilled water and tea for aging test respectively. The color differences (ΔE) which provided comparative values for statistical analysis was recorded at 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 days after the aging test. The enamel surface microstructure of the samples was observed before and after bleaching, after resin agent coating, and 28 days after the aging test.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Results from color differences observation: there was no significant difference between samples soaked in distilled water before and after whitening treatment (P > 0.05). Similarly, there was no statistical difference between test group and control group soaked in distilled water (P > 0.05). However, after soaking in tea, the color differences in the test group at 1-42 days showed statistically significant differences from those in the control group (P < 0.05). (2) Results from scanning electron microscope observation: after the tooth whitening producers, the enamel surface was damaged in the presence of cavities. After coated with resin surface treatment agent, the enamel surface became smooth and had few cavities. After soaking in tea, gradient smooth surface, some crack, inconspicuous flake dyeing color layer decomposition could be seen in the test group while rough surface with big holes and mottled dyeing layer were clearly visible in the control group. All samples soaked in distilled water had only a small amount of block dyeing layer, holes, weaker roughness than those soaked in tea. To conclude, Adper Single Bond 2 Adhesive light-cured resin surface treatment agent could weaken color relapse phenomenon after tooth whitening, achieving a smooth enamel surface and reducing dyeing material adhesion.

The natural ventilation widely used in greenhouses has advantages of saving energy and reducing expense. In order to provide information for climate control of greenhouse, a model was developed to predict the variation of air temperature in the naturally ventilated greenhouse equipped with insect-proof screen. Roof ventilation and combined roof and sidewall ventilation were considered in the model. This model was validated against the results of experiments conducted in the greenhouse when the wind was parallel to the gutters. The model parameters were determined by the least squares method. In the used model, effects of wind speed and window opening height on the air temperature variation were analyzed. Comparison between two types of ventilation showed that there existed a necessary ventilation rate which results in air temperature decrease in natural ventilation under special climatic conditions. In our experiments when wind speed was less than 3.2 ms(-1), wind had a more gradual effect on greenhouse temperature for roof ventilation, compared with combined roof and sidewall ventilation, which had greater air temperature decrease than roof ventilation only.

Objective:To understand the infectious status of Lyme disease among patients with arthritis symptoms in Hainan Province, and to provide a theoretical basis for prevention and control of Lyme disease. Methods:From 2013 to 2018, sampling surveys had been conducted in medical institutions in 8 cities in Hainan Province(Haikou, Sanya, Danzhou, Dongfang, Wenchang, Qionghai, Qiongzhong, Wuzhishan), 2 311 patients serum samples were collected with arthritis symptoms, and descriptive research were conducted base on the collected clinical data. The Indirect Fluorescent-Antibody Test (IFA) method was used for preliminary screening of Lyme disease antibody, the Western Blot (WB) method was used for IFA positive samples confirmation. Statistical analysis using χ2 test. Results:2 311 serum samples were tested by IFA, and 166 were positive with the positive rate of 7.18%. Further confirmed by WB method, 62 samples were positive, the positive rate of Lyme disease antibody was 2.68%(62/2 311). The positive rate of Lyme disease antibody among patients with arthritis in different regions of Hainan was statistically significant ( χ2 =40.636, P<0.001), and the positive rate in Qiongzhong city was the highest (8.81%, 14/159). Danzhou′s positive rate was the second highest, 5.62%(5/89). Dongfang city had the lowest positive rate (0.51%, 2/394). The positive rates of Lyme disease serum antibody in men and women were 2.79% (33/1 182) and 2.57% (29/1 129), respectively; the positive rates of antibodies between each age groups were in the range of 1.74% to 3.64%. The antibody positive rate of Lyme disease showed no significant difference between gender and age ( χ2 =0.110, P=0.740 ; χ2 =1.938, P=0.747). Conclusion:Patients with arthritis symptoms caused by Borrelia burgdorferi infection were found in 8 cities in Hainan province, but the Lyme disease antibody positive rate was different among cities, with Qiongzhong County being the highest.
