Objective To explore whether an individual' s intention to gamble varied across different types of gambling. Methods A total of 373 Macau students completed a questionnaire survey on intention to gamble dealing with thirteen types of gambling,and exploratory factor analyses were conducted. Results The analyses showed two factors that had eigenvalues greater than one and explained a total of 59. 455 percent of the variance,with the largest factor explaining 32.59 percent. Participants' intentions to gamble were relatively lower in gambles of low counterparty with mean scores varying from ( 1.62 ± 1.13 ) to ( 2.20 ± 1.35 ), while the intentions were higher in gambles of high counterparty with mean scores varying from ( 2.34 ± 1. 39 ) to ( 3.02 ± 1.55 ). Conclusion Respondents' degree of intention to gamble was highly domain-specific, varying with the type of gambling.An individual' s intention to gamble is not consistent across all content domains, which implied that a potential gambler is not necessarily intended to gamble in all types of gambling.

The solid-phase method to synthesis HCV polypetides was used.The connecting rate and the polypeptides' productivity and purity were compared when Wang resin and 2-chlorotrity choloride resin acting as vectors.By the identification of mass spectrum,the products' molecular weight was analysed.By ninhydrin method we compared to the connecting rate between two resins and amino acid.By RP-HPLC we carried out the analysis and purity of hetero peptides.The result showed the first amino acid's connecting rate along with the purity and productivity which we need when 2-chlorotrityl choloride resin acted as vector was notably higher than those when Wang resin acted as vector.So 2-chlorotrityl choloride as vector is used to synthesize HCV polypeptides,which adapts to the demand of big scale's industrialization production.

Objective To observe serum secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) levels in normal subjects,obese subjects,patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM),and obese patients with T2DM,as well as the difference of SPARC expression in mesenteric adipose tissue of subjects with and without T2DM.Methods Serum SPARC level was measured with the ELISA.RT-PCR,Western blot,and immunofluorescence were used to examine SPARC mRNA and protein expressions in mesenteric adipose tissue.Results (1) SPARC levels were higher in obesity,T2DM,and T2DM with obesity groups compared with normal group [(1 191.6 ± 718.91,1 223.81 ± 645.96,1 538.01 ± 757.95 vs 851.07 ± 280.21) ng/L,P＜0.05].(2) Pearson correlation analysis showed that SPARC level was positively correlated with homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance index (r =0.205,P＜ 0.05).(3) The expression levels of SPARC mRNA and protein in mesenteric adipose tissue of T2DM patients were higher than those of control subjects (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion SPARC is closely related to the development of obesity,insulin resistance,and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Objective To evaluate the effects of edaravone postconditioning and remote ischemic postconditioning on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats.Methods Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats,aged 8 weeks,weighing 250-300 g,were randomly divided into 5 groups (n =8 each):sham operation group (group S); group I/R; edaravone postconditioning group (group E); remote ischemic postconditioning group (group P); edaravone postconditioning and remote ischemic postconditioning group (group EP).Myocardial I/R was induced by occlusion of anterior desending branch of left coronary artery for 30 min followed by 180 min reperfusion.Edaravone 3 mg/kg was injected intravenously at 1 min before reperfusion in groups E and EP.The animals underwent 10 min ischemia of bilateral hind limbs starting from 20 min of myocardial ischemia in groups P and EP.Left ventricular systolic pressure (LVSP),left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and ± dp/dtmax were measured and recorded during reperfusion.Results Compared with group S,LVSP and ± dp/dtmax were significantly decreased and LVEDP was increased in the other groups (P ＜ 0.05).LVSP and ± dp/dtmax were significantly higher and LVEDP was lower during reperfusion in groups E,P and EP than in group I/R,and in group EP than in groups E and P (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Edaravone postconditioning and remote ischemic postconditioning can alleviate myocardial I/R injury and offers better efficacy than either alone.

pH, affects of different alkaline materials KOH, K 2CO 3, NaOH, Na 2CO 3 on the growth, and NaCl, KCl tolerance of 29 isolates from the saline and alkaline soils in Xinjiang and Qinghai Provinces of China and 1 type strain were studied. Results showed that only a few alkaliphilic actinomycetes were Na +-obligately dependent, and K +-sensitive. Some alkaliphilic actinomycetes were CO 3 2- -sensitive, and NaCl, KCl could inhibit their growth. 4 kinds of alkaline materials had no affect on growth of alkaliphilic Nocardiopsis, and these strains showed high tolerance to NaCl, KCl. So it was presumed that only K + and CO 3 2- obligately dependent alkaliphilic Actinomycetes maybe exist in alkaline environments.

Objective To investigate the incidence and the risk factors of major adverse cardiac events of critical care patients after noncardiac surgery.To study the incidence of myocardial injury after noncardiac surgery (MINS).Methods A retrospective analysis of critical care patients (n =1 087) after noncardiac surgery from January 2012 to January 2013 in our hospital was carried out.The clinical data of the medical history, intraoperative conditions, postoperative conditions and cardiac troponin Ⅰ (cTNI) were collected.Major adverse cardiac events included unstable angina, non fatal myocardial infarction, severe arrhythmia, heart failure and cardiovascular death.Risk factors of major adverse cardiac events of critical care patients after noncardiac surgery were analyzed using Logistic regression.Results The 30 d non cardiac surgery incidence of major adverse cardiac events was (94/1 087) 8.6％, the incidence of MINS was (168/1 087) 15.5％, Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors of major adverse cardiac events after non cardiac surgery were age (OR 1.03,95％ CI 1.01-1.05, P =0.002), a history of chronic renal insufficiency(OR 3.12,95％ CI 1.44-6.74,P =0.004), rise of cTNI 24 h after operation (OR 2.04,95％ CI 1.16-3.58,P =0.014) and use of vasopressor drugs within 24 h after operation (OR 2.34,95％ CI 1.25-4.38,P =0.008).Conclusions The incidence of major adverse cardiac events and the MINS of critical care patients after noncardiac surgery is high.Old age, history of chronic renal insufficiency, rise of cTNI 24 h after operation and vasopressor drugs within 24 h after operation are the independent risk factors.

Quercetin and its glycosides are important flavonols in traditional herbal drugs and plant-derived food, and they have diverse hiological activities such as antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic activities. Numerous studies have demonstrated that quercetin and its glycosides were effective in the prevention and treatment of non-infectious chronic disease such as diabetes, obesity, and hyperlipidemia. They can regulate glucose and lipid metaholism through different mechanisms. They can decrease blood glucose via protecting pancreatic/p cells or/and improving insulin sensitivity. Also, they have lipid-lowering effects, which may be the result of regulation of lipid catabolism or/and anabolism. Their distributions, as well as the hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effects are reviewed in this paper. In addition, further bioactivities as well as their dose-activity relationship, structure-activity relationship, bioavailability, and future clinical application of quercetin and its glycosides are discussed and proposed.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effects of Qingre Liqi Granule (QLG) on clinical therapeutic efficacy, electrogastrogram (EGG) and gastric emptying in patients with functional dyspepsia (FD).

METHODSThirty-two FD patients of dyskinesis type enrolled were treated with QLG by oral taking for 6 days. Scoring on 8 kinds of symptoms, including abdominal distension, abdominal pain, morning gastric fullness, belching, regurgitation, nausea, vomiting, and anorexia, fasting EGG and the gastric emptying determination were performed using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) before and after treatment.

RESULTSThe total and individual scores of clinical symptoms, expect that of vomiting, significantly decreased after treatment (P < 0.05), and the percentage of patients with tachygastria and bradygastria significantly decreased (P<0.01) at the same time. EGG after treatment showed significantly elevated rates of normal slow wave dominant power, and nearly normalized dominant frequency. An increased gastric emptying rate at different phases after 75 min (P < 0.05), and significantly shortened gastric emptying half-time (P < 0.01) were shown meanwhile in gastric emptying detection. The improvement of symptom score and gastric emptying half-time showed significant positive linear correlation (r =0.8929, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONQLG can improve symptoms of FD patients by regulating the rhythm and power of gastric electro-wave, increasing gastric motility and enhancing gastric emptying function.

To investigate the anticancer effects of ring C in 18β-glycyrrhetinic acid (GA), a series of GA derivatives featured with 9(11)-ene moiety in ring C were designed and synthesized. The structures were confirmed by IR, LC-MS and 1H NMR. Their inhibitory effects towards human prostate cancer PC-3 and leukemia HL-60 cell lines were determined. Most of the derivatives displayed stronger antiproliferative activities than GA. Particularly, compound 14 showed promising anticancer activity with the GI50 values of 4.48 µmol · L(-1) and 1.2 µmol · L(-1) against PC-3 and HL-60 cells respectively, which is worth further study.
