Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
The effects of solid-state fermentation (SSF) and submerged fermentation (SmF) and the addition of olive oil on the whole-cell lipase production by Rhizopus chinensis CCTCC M201021 were investigated.Compared with SSF, higher biomass, hydrolytic activity and synthetic activity were observed in SmF.By the addition of olive oil, the synthetic activity of whole-cell lipase in both fermentations was enhanced significantly, especially in SmF, while the biomass and the hydrolytic activity were also increased.Hence, olive oil serves as both carbon source and the inducer of lipases in fermentation. It was also found that the synthetic activity of whole-cell lipase was not accordant to the hydrolytic activity during both SmF and SSF, suggesting that isoenzymes with difference in lipase properties may be produced by Rhizopus chinensis.

Background and purpose:Radical nephroureterectomy can be performed in a variety of ways, and each method has its advantages and disadvantages. It still remains controversial for choosing the surgical methods. In this study, we chose six surgical methods and investigated the safety and efficacy of different methods in treating upper urinary tract carcinoma. Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 135 patients with upper urinary tract transitional cell carcinoma who underwent operations in our hospital from Jan. 2002 to Oct. 2013, and compared the data of six different operations in-cluding operating time, volume of bleeding, time of bowel function recovery and incidence of bladder carcinomas. Results:The operations were successfully completed in groups A and B. Five cases in group C were transferred into group A be-cause of failing to pull the nub of the ureter. Two cases in group D were transferred into group A because of failing to pull the nub of the ureter. Three cases in group E were transferred into group D and 1 case was transferred into group A because of adhesion or bleeding. One case in group F was transferred into group A because of bleeding. There was no statistically significant difference in survival rates among six operations. Conclusion:Six operations are all safe and effective for the treatment of upper urinary tract carcinomas. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages. We should choose differ-ent methods according to particular cases.

OBJECTIV:
e To find the correlation between real best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and testing results of microperimetry and visual evoked potential (VEP) and to explore a new method in recording BCVA in macular disease.
METHODS:
Sixty-two patients with macular disease (macular disease group, 62 eyes) and eighteen healthy volunteers (control group, 36 eyes) had BCVA, microperimetry and VEP recorded.
RESULTS:
(1) By microperimetry, the values of retinal mean sensitivity and fixation percentage in macular disease group were lower than that in control group. The bicurve ellipse area in macular disease group was higher than that in control group. By VEP, P100 amplitude under 0.5 cpd and 2 cpd in macular disease group were significantly higher than that in control group and the latency was prolonged (P < 0.05). (2) In macular disease group, BCVA had significant positive correlation with retinal mean sensitivity, bicurve ellipse area, macular central 2 degrees and 4 degrees fixation percentage, respectively (P < 0.05). There was a significant correlation between retinal mean sensitivity and P100 amplitude (P < 0.05). (3) Multiple linear regression equation was y = 0.053 x1+0.008 x3+3.897 (y was BCVA, while x1 was retinal mean sensitivity and x3 was P100 amplitude under 2 cpd).
CONCLUSION
Combined use of microperimetry and VEP is useful in the assessment of BCVA in macular disease.

Objective To evaluate the application valve of intraoperative device closure secundum atrial sepetal defect (ASD) associated with deficient rims inducted by transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE). Methods Twenty-three patients with ASD were diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) ,and underwent an attempted intraoperative device closure through a right antierior minithoraetomy. The positon, type and size and rim of ASD were defined by TEE in preoperation, the placement of the device inducted and evaluated by TEE intraoperation, and followed by TTE after one week. Results Twenty-three patients with ASD were closed excellently. There were not shunt of atrial level in 20 patients, trivial shunt in 3 patients. However,follow-up after one week TTE indicated that all patients had no shunt, and the diameter of right atrium and right ventricle was decrease significantly (P <0.05), and pulmonary artery pressure was less than before (P <0.05). Conclusions It is very important that TEE induct the closure of ASD associated with deficient rims in micro-operative room.

Fluid therapy has been the focus of attention and dispute. In this paper, there are three aspects including postoperative bowel function, surgical prognosis, and acute diffuse peritonitis. Colloidal supplement and appropriate crystal/colloid ratio should be noted in low perfusion conditions. The different types of fluid in recent studies did not show a significant difference in the long term. The new evidence will be noted in fluid therapy among 2012 SSC Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock Guideline update (unpublished).
