Objective To discuss the diagnostic value of combined utilization of urinary cystatin C (CysC) and β‐N‐acetyl‐glu‐cosaminidase (NAG) in renal tubules injury .Methods Urine samples were collected from 130 cases of patients with renal tubular damage (case group) and 100 cases of health individuals (normal control group) ,respectively .The concentration of CysC and the activity of NAG in urine were detected .Results The sensitivity ,specificity ,and positive predictive value of combined utilization of CysC and NAG in diagnosis of renal tubules damage were 85 .4% ,89 .6% and 82 .1% ,respectively .The concentration of CysC and the activity of NAG in case group after treatment were both significantly different from those before treatment (P<0 .05) .Conclu‐sion Combined utilization of urinary CysC and NAG has a significant value for the diagnosis and the therapeutic monitoring in re‐nal tubules injury .

Deoxynupharidine is one of the alkaloids extracted trom Nuphar pumilum ( Timm ) DC which has been used in the treatment of arthritis and lumber-leg pain in folk medicine. This article presents the results of the experimental study of the analgesic and antiinflamma-tory actions of deoxynupharidine.Deoxynupharidine, ip, 15-20mg/kg, increased significantly the pain threshold of thermal and electrical stimulation in mice, and decreased significantly the rate and frequency of the development of body twisting reaction induced by ip acetic acid. Deoxynupharidine also significantly reduced exudation of acetic acid-induced inflammation in peritoneal cavity of mice. Data also showed that deoxynupharidine 15-20mg/kg and dexamethasone 4-8mg/kg produced a similar inhibing effeet on the degree of ankle swelling induced by subcutaneous injection of egg albumin. Dose-response relationship was seen in the above experiment.These resalts provide evidences for the clinial appli cation of deoxyuupharidine in the treatments of arthrtis and other inflammatory diseases.

Cyclodextrin(CD) is gradually applied in the nonviral gene vector system,due to its biocompatibility and flexibility of tailing via structural modification,polymerization or supramolecular combination.The ideas and research progress of the CD,its low molecular derivatives,CD polymers and CD supramolecular combination in the field of norviral gene vectros were reviewed,and their "structure-safety-transfection efficiency" relationships were discussed.

BACKGROUND: The role of mechanical stress in the functional regulation of osteoblasts becomes an emphasis in osseous biomechanical researches recently. There are few reports on whether fluid shear stress can induce the expression of core-binding factor α1 (Cbfα1) or not and what is its rule.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of fluid shear stress (FSS) on the gene expression of Cbfα1 in human osteosarcoma cells.DESIGN: A controlled observation experiment.SETTING: Department of Aerospace Biodynamics, Faculty of Aerospace Medicine, Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA.MATERIALS: Subjects were human osteosarcoma cells (MG-63) METHODS: This study was carried out at the Department of Aerospace Biodynamics, Faculty of Aerospace Medicine, Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA from November 2004 to April 2005. ①After cultured for 60 hours, MG-63 were treated with 0.5 Pa (0.5 Pa stress treated group ) or 1.5 Pa (1.5 Pa stress treated group ) FSS in a flow chamber for 15, 30, 60minutes, respectively. Cover glass was put in the Petri dish containing culture medium at the same time, serving as the control group of FSS treated group. ②The total RNA in cells was isolated. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction analysis was made to examine the gene expression of Cbfα1 mRNA. The ratio of Cbfα1 mRNA and GAPDH mRNA was calculated.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The mRNA expressions of Cbfα1 at different FSS and different time.RESULTS: ① Compared with control group, Cbfα1 mRNA expression increased significantly at 30 and 60 minutes with the treatment of FSS.Within certain time range (15 to 60 minutes), Cbfα1 mRNA expression was strengthened with the elongation of time and the increase of stress level. ②The Cbfα1 mRNA expression at 30 and 60 minutes were significantly increased in 1.5 Pa stress treated group in comparison with 0.5 Pa stress treated group (P＜0.01).CONCLUSION: FSS can significantly increase the gene expression of Cbfα1 in human osteosarcoma cells.

AlM: To observe the treatment efficacy of eyelid herpeszoster with external use ganciclovir ophthalmic gel.METHODS:A total of 77 patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. ln the treatment group, ganciclovir ophthalmic gel was topical coated on the basis of antiviral drugs, while the control group was coated with conventional acyclovir ointment and antiviral treatment.
RESULTS: The cure rate was 95% in the treatment group, and the control group was 83% after 10d treatment. The difference was significant.
CONCLUSlON: The efficacy of ganciclovir ophthalmic gel treated eyelid herpes zoster is obvious.

Objective:To compare the biomechanical effects between oblique Ban-pulling manipulation and lumbar erection-rotation manipulation in sitting position in treating lumbar intervertebral disc herniation (LIDH). Methods:A three-dimensional finite element model of L3-S1 was developed to carry out a comparative study between oblique Ban-pulling manipulation and lumbar erection and rotation manipulation in sitting position. The disc protrusion was assumed to be on the rear left of L4 disc, and the manipulations were performed on the right side. The loading process was simulated by two steps. In the first step, only the compression loading was imposed, and in the second step, both the compression loading and axial rotation moment were imposed. The displacement and stress distribution in L4 disc were investigated. Results:The values of stress and displacement in the second step were lower than those in the first step in each manipulation. The stress and displacement differences between the two steps were respectively 1.79 times and 3.03 times larger in oblique Ban-pulling manipulation than those in lumbar erection-rotation manipulation in sitting position. Conclusion: Oblique Ban-pulling manipulation may result in a better biomechanical effect than lumbar erection-rotation manipulation in sitting position for LIDH.

Objective To evaluate the association between interleukin-I(IL-1)loci polymorphisms and increased risk of gastric carcinoma in samples from northern Chinese population.Methods Blood sam- ples from 126 patients with gastric cancer and 125 controls with chronic gastritis were collected.Genomic DNA was extracted and polymorphisms at -31(C to T),-511(C to T)and at intron 2(86-bp VNTR)of IL-I RN were genotyped by PCR-CTPP,PCR-RFLP and PCR.For detection of Hp infection fast urenase test,~(14)C breath test and serum anti-Hp IgG antibody assay were used.Results Five kinds of polymorphism of IL-IRN were found as 1/1,1/3,1/4,1/2 and 2/2,and the frequencies in patients were 76.19%、4.76%、6.35%、11.90% and 0.79%,respectively.However,the frequencies in controls were 76.00%、4.00%、4.80%、13.60% and 1.60%.No significant differences were observed between cases and controls in each genotype.The polymorphism of IL-IB-31 allele was C/C,C/T and T/T.The frequencies in patients were 12.70% ,47.62% and 39.68%,and in controls 28.00%,48.80% and 23.20% respectively.IL-1B- 31 T/T carriers were at an increase risk of gastric cancer with an odds ratio of 3.772(95% CI,1.786- 7.966).IL-IB-511 alleles were C/C,C/T and T/T.The frequencies in patients were 19.20%,56.80% and 24.00% and in controls,23.38%,49.19% and 27.42% respectively.No significant differences were observed between cases and controls in each genotype.Conclusion In Chinese population,the polymor- phism of IL-1B-31 alleles may be associated with the susceptibility of gastric cancer.However,no evidence was found to support that the polymorphisms of IL-1RN and IL-I B-511 alleles had relationship with gastric cancer.
