Chinese Medical Ethics 1994;0(06):-
This study based on an ethical review of the kidney donation from a young man to his elder relative. We discuss the problems existing in present field of intra-vital organ transplantations,as well as its risk and the ethics review mode.It is recommended that ethics review is performed as a complete procedure, which should not only present in certain format, but also emphasize weighing the advantages and disadvantages of both patients and donors;intra-vital organ transplantations between relatives should also follow the principle of "no compensation and non-commercialization";hospitals should give out the judgment under sufficient considerations of both patients' and donors' benefits within the scope of laws,as well as taking into account of other factors such as prospective outcome of the operations, rather than barely basing on the risk probabilities.

Objective To search for the changes of T cells subpopulations and immunoglobulin and their relation-ship in children patients with simple nephrotic syndrome. Design Case-control research. Patients aud Participants 39 patients with simple nephrotic syndrome were divided into two groups:the incipient group and relapse group (6 cases were determined at the incipient and relapse time) .Thereare 28 patients in incipient group, 19 males and 9 females, at the age of 2 to 10 years old. There are20 patients in relapse group, 12 males and 8 females, at the age of 3 to 13 years old. There are 35health children in control group, 21 males and 14 females, 2~13 years old. Interventions T cells subpopulations were determined by indirect immunofluorescence of OKT linesmonoclonal antibodies. The serum IgG was determined by routine simple agar immunodiffusion tests. Results and Conclusions The CD_3~+ and CD_4~+ cells are of no change in the children patients withsimple nephrotic syndrome, and the CD_8~+ and CD_(10)~+ cells are obviously increased, the Values of CD_4~+/CD_8~+ are obviously lower than those in the control qroup, there are no difference between the incipientand relapse groups. The levels of serum IgG were decreased in the 85.3% children patients, IgM were inc-reased in 29.4% of that. The values of CD_4~+/CD_8~+ have positive correlation and negative correlationwith the levels of serum IgG and IgM respectively.

Objective To explore the attitudes towards the Smoking Ban policy and the bias in different levels of related society sanctions so as to provide evidence for implementing anti-smoking measures in the public places. Methods A multi-univariate-multilevel logistic model was developed to find the relation between penalty attitudes and the covariates' effects. Results 74.6% (3647/4892) and 61.2% (2994/4892) of the residents agreed to punish either the managers of public places or to the smokers. The two kinds of attitude were associated (x2 =1253.45,P<0.0001 ).Residents being female, aged between thirty and fifty-nine years old, having had higher than college education, being non-current smokers, with high scores on knowledge of tobacco control, tended to have the attitude of punishing the public place managers and smokers. However, those persons exposed to everyday secondhand smoke or being non-current smokers, tended to punish the smokers in the generalized Wald test. Conclusion There was strong evidence noticed that most of the residents in Guangzhou had supported the ‘tobacco control penalty'.Factors as age, sex, level of education received, knowledge on hazards of smoking, being current smokers and under secondhand smoke exposure were the influencing factors.Non-current smokers and those who exposed to secondhand smoke everyday, would prefer to take different penalties policies.

AIM: To make a contrast and then analyze the difference of optical coherence tomography (OCT) before and after vitreomacular traction syndrome (VTS) was performed.METHODS: The clinical date of 11 evaluable eyes of 11 patients with VTS who were diagnosed by OCT and underwent 25G vitreous surgery from January 2013 to January 2014 were retrospectively analyzed.Patients were followed up for an average of 6mo, to observe the visual acuity and OCT examination of the patient before and after operation. We compared the changes of retinal thickness and local morphology before and after operation.RESULTS: After vitreous retraction, 6 eyes improved, 2 eyes do not improve. One eye received macular membrane traction, in the operation the macular epiretinal membrane peeling, retrial membrane stripping and the triamcinolone acetonide intravitreal injection were given, but after the operation, the vision does not improve. Two eyes received vitreous combined with retinal macular membrane traction. In the operation, macular epiretinal membrane stripping was given, after the operation, visual acuity improved. The proportion of those with visual acuity of 0.1 or more increased from 46% before to 73% after the operation. Before operations, the mean central macular thickness was 619.27±195.13μm, 239.12±143.84μm after, which decreased significantly (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Vitrectomy can effectively relieve the vitreous traction of the macula, and can prevent further decline in visual acuity and reduce macular edema as well as improve the visual acuity of some patients. So, OCT has important guiding significance on the diagnosis and prognosis of this group.
7.Effect of Safflor yellow against neonatal hypoxia on expression of NOSs mRNA.
Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2004;20(4):371-374
AIMTo investigate the effect of Safflor yellow on the gene expression of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) in neonatal asphyxia.
METHODS30 minutes after SY 7 g/kg weight intraperitoneally was administered on the neonatal rats. After asphyxia for 40 minutes, the neonatal rats were reoxygenated for 48 h, and the nitric oxide synthases (NOSs) mRNA expression was assessed by semi-quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.
RESULTSNeuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) were up in hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) 48 h group, while both of them were down significantly in SY group, but no change was observed on endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS).
CONCLUSIONThe protective of SY from brain damage induced by neonatal asphyxia might be associated with expression of NOSs mRNA.

Chinese Journal of Surgery 2004;42(23):1427-1429
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the strength of pedicle screw fixation with bone cement in human cadaveric lumbar vertebral bodies by using biomechanical test.
METHODSTwenty-four fresh frozen cadaveric lumbar vertebral bodies were randomly divided into 3 groups, which each group had 8 bodies. The bodies in the first group were drilled only. The bodies in the second group were drilled with tap. The bodies in the third group were drilled and the holes were enlarged by borer. Each vertebral body was drilled in both right and left sides, which one side served as control with the pedicle screws fixation only and another side served as testing side with the pedicle screw fixation with bone cement. The pullout strength was tested on both sides by using borer.
RESULTThere was significant difference of manifestation of pull-strength between the control side and the testing side in all groups (P < 0.001). For the manifestation of pull-strength of testing side in different groups, which had pedicle screw fixation with bone cement, there was no significant difference between the second group and third group, however, the difference between the first group and the second group and between the first group and third group were significant.
CONCLUSIONThe pedicle screws with bone cements could significantly enhance the strength of fixation in cadaveric lumbar compared with pedicle screws only.
