Objective To compare the lipid lowing effect and the clinical safety between intensive therapy with Chinese medicine Zhihitai and atorvastntin in patients with moderate and high risk of atherosclerosis. Methods All the patients were randomly divided in to a Zhibitai group (n = 85) receiving 480 mg of Zhibitai orally twice a day or an atorvastatin group (n = 84) receiving 10 mg atorvastatin orally once daily. Blood lipoproteins, myocardial enzymes, fiver and renal function were measured before treatment and at the fourth and eighth week after therapy , while high sensitive creactive protein (hs-CRP), P-selectin, matrix-metall proteinase-9 (MMP-9) and soluble intercellular adhering molecule-1 (SICAM-1) were detected before treatment and eighth week after therapy in all patients. Results TC and LDL-C were significantly decreased while HDL-C was increased in both groups after 4 and 8 weeks treatment (P < 0. 05). TG was decreased in Zhibitai group after 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, but it was decreased in atorvastatin group only after 8 weeks of treatment. Inflammatory factors such as hs-CRP, P-selectin, MMP-9, SICAM-1 were decreased significantly (all P < 0. 01), but there was no significant difference between the two groups. There were no difference in liver and kidney function, myocardial enzymes and incidence of muscle-ache and digestive system side reaction. ConclusionsBesides the lipoprotein disorder, inflammatory factors in patients with moderate and high risk of atherosclerosis could be regulated with intensive therapy of Zhibitai. Most importantly, it is safe to use Zhibitai clinically.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(01):-
AIM To study the therapeutic effects of Deketoprofen trometamol (D KPT) on adjuvant arthritis (AA) and its side effects on gastroduodena. METHEDS The change of primary and secondary inflammatory and the injury effect of gastroduodena treated with D KPT were observed. The effect of D KPT on prostaglandin E 2 (PGE 2) produced by peritoneal macrophage (PM) on AA rats in vitro was also observed. RESULTS D KPT (2 5, 5, 10 mg?kg -1 ) significantly inhibited primary inflammatory, secondary inflammatory and multiple arthritis of AA rats. D KPT(10 -8 ,10 -7 ,10 -6 ,10 -5 ,10 -4 mol?L -1 )inhibited the elevated PGE 2 released from PM of AA rats in vitro . D KPT (10 mg?kg -1 ) significantly injured gastroduodena on AA rats, but the degree of injuries was less than that of ketoprofen (KP) (10 mg?kg -1 ). CONCLUSION D KPT has therapeutic effects on AA rats, and its injury effect on gastroduodena is less than that of KP.

Chinese Journal of Organ Transplantation 2003;0(06):-
Objective To investigate the role of CTLA4-Ig and anti-CD40L monoclonal antibody in the acute rejection of pancreaticoduodenal transplantation model of rats. Methods Pancreaticoduo- denal transplantation model was established from the donor F344 rats to the Lewis recipients(diabetes models). The models were divided into 4 groups:groups A,B,C and D with 12 rats in each group. Two days after transplantation, recipients were injected intraperitoneally with saline,CTLA4-Ig(200?g),anti-CD40L monoclonal antibody(200?g),CTLA4-Ig(200?g)combined with anti-CD40L monoclonal antibody(200?g)respectively.On the day 1,4,7,10 after transplantation, the grafts were harvested for histopathological examination and RT-PCR to determine the levels of interleukin (IL)-2,interferon(IFN)-?,IL-4 and IL-10;The blood CD3~+,CD4~+and CD8~+ T cells were detected by flow cytometry. On the day 4 after transplantation, the CD4~+ CD25~+ T cells in the grafts were de- tected by flow cytometry. Results As compared with group A,the severity of the rejection of grafts in groups B,C and D were depressed;Down-regulation of IL-2 was observed in the groups B,C and D, and the levels in group D were lowest.Down-regulation of IFN-7 was detected in the groups B,C and D,but there was no significantly difference between groups D and B or groups D and C.Up-regulation of IL-4 was observed in the groups B and C,and the levels in group D were lower than in groups A,B and C.Up-regulation of IL-10 was observed in groups B and C,and there was significant difference between groups D and B or groups D and C.The CD3~+,CD4~+ and CD8~+ T cells in groups B,C and D were less, but more CID4~+ CD25~+ T ceils in transplanted pancreas were observed, more notably in group D than in group C.Conclusions Combined use of CTLA4-Ig and anti-CD40L monoclonal anti- body can remarkably diminish the severity of the rejection, which might be mediated by altering the balance in Th1/Th2 and increasing the number of CD4~+ CD25~+ regulatory T cells.Co-stimulation blockade with CTLA4-Ig and anti-CD40L monoclonal antibody induction seems to be an attractive strategy to control allograft rejection.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2023;35(3):250-252
Objective :
To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of influenza among the elderly in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021 (April 2017 to March 2022), so as to provide insights into influenza control among the elderly.
Methods :
The data pertaining to surveillance of patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) at ages of 60 years and older in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021 were retrieved from Chinese Influenza Surveillance Information Management, and the temporal distribution of ILI cases and the results of influenza virus tests were descriptively analyzed.
Results :
Totally 26 908 ILI cases at ages of 60 years and older were reported in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021, with an ILI prevalence rate of 0.17%. The prevalence of ILI appeared a tendency towards a rise in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021 (χ2trend=268.554, P<0.001), and the epidemic peaked in the 3rd to 7th weeks of 2019 and 2020. The overall positive rate of influenza virus was 6.80%, and the positive rate of influenza virus showed a tendency towards a decline from 2017 to 2021 (χ2trend=425.268, P<0.001). Influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 (46.82%) and A (H3N2) (22.79%), as well as influenza B virus lineages B/Victoria (12.11%) and B/Yamagata (18.28%) were predominant types, which changes among the study period. The detection of influenza virus-positive samples peaked from December to March of the next year, and a high positive rate of influenza virus was detected in Hegang (12.35%), Heihe (11.47%) and Daqing cities (11.07%). There was no significant correlation between the prevalence of ILI and the positive rate of influenza virus in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021 (rs=-0.800, P=0.104).
Conclusions
The prevalence of ILI appeared a tendency towards a rise among the elderly at ages of 60 years and older in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021, and the epidemic peaked in winter and spring. Influenza A (H1N1) pdm09, A (H3N2), B/Victoria, B/Yamagata were alternately prevalent and there was no obvious correlation between ILI prevalence and the positive rate of influenza virus.

National Journal of Andrology 2015;21(8):687-691
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of baicalein on the gap junction intercellular communication (GJIC) in the TM4 Sertoli cells of the mouse testis and its related mechanism.
METHODSWe measured the cytotoxicity of different concentrations of baicalein on the TM4 Sertoli cells in the mouse testis by MTT, detected the fluorescence transfer of the TM4 Sertoli cells by parachute assay, and determined the expression of the protein connexin 43 ( Cx43) in the baicalein-treated cells by Western blot and immunofluorescence assay.
RESULTSBaicalein produced no obvious cytotoxicity on the TM4 Sertoli cells at the concentration below 60 µmol/L but significantly increased their GJIC at 0-20 µmol/L (P < 0.01). Western blot and immunofluorescence assay showed that 0-20 µmol/L baicalein remarkably elevated the expression of Cx43 in the TM4 cells (P < 0.01) and on the membrane of the TM4 cells.
CONCLUSIONBaicalein at the concentration of 0-20 µmol/L can significantly enhance GJIC in mouse TM4 Sertoli cells by increasing the expression of the Cx43 protein.

Acta Physiologica Sinica 2009;61(6):505-510
In central nervous system only a limited number of vesicles exist in the presynaptic terminals. The size and fusion modes of the vesicles were particularly important because of their potential impact on neuronal communications. Efficient methods were needed to analyze the recycling kinetics of synaptic vesicle and the size of readily releasable pool (RRP). In this study, fluorescent dyes with different affinity for membranes (FM1-43 with high affinity and FM2-10 with low affinity) were used to stain the functional synaptic vesicles of cultured hippocampal neurons and the kinetics of vesicle recycling was measured. The results showed that the destaining proportion was larger for FM2-10 than that for FM1-43 during the first trial, while it was greater for FM1-43 than FM2-10 during the second and third trials (first round, 93.0%+/-5.9% versus 57.9%+/-3.5% for FM2-10 and FM1-43, respectively, P<0.0001; second round, 1.4%+/-3.8% versus 24.0%+/-2.3%, P<0.0001; third round, 2.3%+/-1.6% versus 8.6%+/-1.5%, P=0.005). The results indicated that rapid endocytosis existed not only in the first round but also occurred when the vesicles were reused. Moreover, Both high-frequency stimuli and hypertonic sucrose stimuli were used to estimate the RRP sizes in the mix cultured hippocampal inhibitory neurons at 13-14 days in vitro (DIV). We found that the RRP size estimated by hypertonic sucrose stimuli [(200+/-23.0) pC] was much larger than that estimated by high-frequency stimuli [(51.1+/-10.5) pC]. One possible reason for the discrepancies in RRP estimates is that in mix cultured conditions, one neuron may receive inputs from several neurons and hypertonic sucrose stimuli will cause RRP of all those neurons release, while using dual patch recording, only the connection between two neurons was analyzed. Thus, to exclude out the impacts of inputs numbers on RRP sizes, it is more reasonable to use high-frequency stimuli to estimate the RRP size in mix cultured neurons.

Objective To provide supportive evidences for the diagnosis of primary major depres-sive disorder (MDD) by analyzing the alterations of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1α, IL-6, IL-18, TNF-αas well as the total complement activity (CH50) in serum samples. Methods Hamilton Depression Rating Scale ( HAMD) was used to rate the severity of depression with the patients who were diagnosed as primary MDD.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the levels of IL-1α, IL-6, IL-18 and TNF-αand the CH50 in serum samples from 49 patients and 40 healthy subjects .Results Pa-tients with MDD showed significantly different levels of IL-6, IL-18, TNF-αand CH50 in serum samples as compared with that in healthy subjects (P<0.05).No significant difference with the level of IL-1αwas ob-served between the patients with MDD and healthy subjects (P>0.05).There were significant gender differ-ences with levels of IL-1αamong the patients with MDD (P<0.05).However, no significant differences with the levels of IL-6, IL-18, TNF-αand CH50 were found between male and female patients (P>0.05). Conclusion The changes of CH50 and certain proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, IL-18 and TNF-αmight be involved in the progression of MDD , suggesting the possibility of using them as indicators for the di-agnosis of MDD.
