Objective To evaluate the role of early growth response gene1 (Egr-1) in liver injury in taurocholate-induced acute pancreatitis rat model. Methods Twenty-four male rats were divided into 4 groups. Egr-1 immunohistochemistry staining and pancreatic pathologic scoring were assessed, and the serum levels of AST, LDH, TNF-? and IL-1 ? were measured. Egr-1 mRNA levels of primary hepatocyte culture stimulated with TNF-? and pretreated primary hepatocytes with PD98059 followed by TNF-? stimulation were also observed. Results Egr-1 expression of liver correlated with degree of liver injury in acute pancreatitis in rat, and high Egr-1 mRNA expression of primary hepatocyte was observed when hepatocyte injury occurred. After pretreated with PD98059, TNF-?-stimulated hepatocytes showed a lower level of Egr-1 mRNA compared with hepatocytes without pretreatment. Conclusions Egr-1 may play an important role in liver injury in acute pancreatitis, and this effect depended partly upon extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) pathway.
6.Effect of Early Bilateral Limbs Rehabilitation on Stroke Patients
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(6):494-495
ObjectiveTo observe the effect of early bilateral limbs rehabilitation on nerve function of stroke patients.Methods60 cases of acute stroke were divided into unilateral group and bilateral group with 30 cases in each group. Cases in bilateral group were treated by training healthy side and sick side limbs alternatively and electric stimulating bilateral limbs at same time. Cases in unilateral group were treated only on sick limbs (both training and electric stimulating). After 4 weeks treatment, neurological deficit evaluation (NDE), motor function and activities of daily living of all cases in two groups were assessed.ResultsAfter treatment, scores of NDE, Fugl-Meyer Motor Assessment Scale and Barthel index of patients of bilateral group were 9.9±4.52, 71.21±22.43 and 78.6 ± 20.17 respectively. Those of patients of unilateral group were 13.46±9.2, 52.21±17.68 and 54.2±16.34 respectively. There was a significant difference between two groups (P<0.01) after 4 weeks treatment.ConclusionEarly rehabilitation can improve nerve function of stroke patients and the effect of bilateral limbs rehabilitation is better than that of unilateral limbs rehabilitation.

Objective To investigate the serum levels of soluble human leukocyte antigen (sHLA)-G in patients with polymyositis (PM) or dermatomyositis (DM),and to analyze its association with clinical features and possible role in the pathogenesis of PM/DM.Methods Serum sHLA-G levels of 26 patients with PM,70 patients with DM and 35 matched healthy controls were measured by ELISA.The relationship between the sHLA-G levels and clinical features or seroimmunological data in the patients with PM/DM was analyzed. Results Serum levels of sHLA-G in PM/DM patients were significantly higher compared to healthy controls [(44±70) U/ml vs (4±5) U/ml,P<0.01].There was statistically significant difference between DM patients and PM patients [(54±81) U/ml vs (27±41) U/ml,P=0.004].The incidence of dysphagia was significantly higher in sHLA-G elevated group than those in sHLA-G normal group (P=0.001).Additionally,Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that the serum sHLA-G levels were positively correlated with serum C3 (r=0.284,P=0.021),but negatively correlated with CD3+ T cells (r=-0.233,P=0.047) and CD4+ T cells (r=-0.287,P=0.015) in the peripheral blood in patients with PM/DM.Serum levels of sHLA-G in non-treated PM/DM patients were significantly higher compared to treated patients [(77±99) U/ml vs (34±52) U/ml,P=0.021].No relationship between serum sHLA-G levels and PM/DM disease activity,or different drug therapy was found. Conclusion Serum levels of sHLA-G are increased in PM/DM patients. The increased production of sHLA-G,paralleled with higher incidence of dysphagia and lower level of CD3+ T cells and CD4+ T cells, indicates that sHLA-G may play an important role in the pathogenesis of PM/DM.

Objective:To observe the effect of rapid point pressure on clinical effect and pulmonary function of patients with chronic persistent bronchial asthma.
Methods:A total of 60 confirmed chronic persistent bronchial asthma cases were randomly allocated into two groups, 30 in each group. Cases in the treatment group were treated with rapid point pressure, 1 h for the initial treatment, and 40 min for the ensuing treatments. The treatment was done once a day for 40 d. Cases in the control group were treated with Compound Methoxyphenamine Hydrochloride Capsules, 2 capsules for each dose, 3 times a day. The treatment lasted for 7 consecutive days. A 1-year follow-up was made for both groups.
Results:After treatment, the scores of each symptom and total symptom scores for the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptoms in the treatment group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05);the total effective rates in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group in each time frame; and there was a between-group statistical significance in total effective rate after 7 d of treatment (P<0.01). After 40-day treatments, there were statistical significances in the forced expiratory volume in 1 s percentage of predicted value (FEV 1%) and inspiratory capacity (IC%) in the treatment group (P<0.05); however, there were no statistical significances (P>0.05) in forced expiratory volume in 1 second to forced vital capacity ratio (FEV1/FVC), peak expiratory flow rate (PEF%) and maximum midexpiratory flow rate (MMEF%); and there were no statistical significances in pulmonary function parameters in the control group. In addition, as for pulmonary function parameters, there were no intra-group statistical significances in differences before and after treatment (P>0.05).
Conclusion:Rapid point pressure can alleviate patients’ TCM symptoms and improve their FEV%and IC%.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(08):-
Objective To observe the estrogenic activity of octylphenol(OP) in vitro and to conduct a preliminary study of its mechanism. Methods The estrogenic activity of OP was detected by cell proliferation test of MCF 7 cells in vitro and the mechanism was preliminarily studied by growth curve analysis, cell cycle analysis, tamoxifen(Tam) antagonistic test and apoptosis detection. Results OP was found to have estrogenic activity to stimulate the proliferation of MCF 7 cells. Cell cycle analysis revealed that the cell proliferation indexes of OP and 17? estradiol(E 2) were higher than those of alcohol. The estrogenic activities of OP and E 2 to stimulate the proliferation of MCR 7 could be antagonized by Tam. Both OP and E 2 could inhibit the cell apoptosis of MCF 7 cells. Conclusion OP possesses estrogenic activity to stimulate the proliferation of MCF 7 cells. The mechanism may be due to binding to the estrogen receptor, which may have effect on cell proliferation and apoptosis.
