The assessment method for pharmacology courses in top-up program of Yanjing medical college was reformed supported by the principal foundation from China capital medical university.The reform specified the assessment content and examination syllabus,formed the multilayer assessing methods and assessing modes and assessed objectively through questionnaires and investigations.The results showed that the students were satisfied with the assessment mode,degree of standardization and the implementation effect. Pharmacology teaching was effectively assessed by the new method and students′ comprehensive ability was improved.

Using Vibrio fluvialis Ⅱ as host bacteria, 19 bacteriophages have been isolated from the 76 samples which were collected from Haliotis discus hannai ～growing seawater in Dalian marine culture company Dalian, liaoning province from May in 1996 to August I 1997. Ultrastructure of 19 bacteriophages were observed with electron to Bradley the results showed that of these bacteriophages belonged to Bradley A type, they have hexagonal heads of bacteriophages were identified with VP1,VP2,VP4,VP8 as representatives respectively. The phages remain stable at pH6. 0～10. 0, moreover VP2,VP4 and VP8 are rather stable at basic pHs. Although the characterization of heat inactivation course of VP4 is different from others, four phages are sensitive to heat and inactivated at 80℃ in 5 minutes. One step growth experiment showed that the eclipse period of VP1,VP2,VP4,VP8 are sensitive to heat and the eclipse period of VP1, VP2, VP4, VP8 are 42, 30, 46, 28 minutes. In this experiment we have isolated at least four different types phages, it suggest that in fact there is a population of phages in the seawater environment. The result of this study provided a way to find the potential value of phages as an indicator of pathogenic microorganisms Vibrio fluvilis Ⅱ in marine environment.

This study is to explore the effects of quercetin (QUE) on the 3 week-old mice ovarian development and relative hormone levels. The 3 week-old mice were exposed to QUE (45, 25, and 5 mg x kg(-1) x hd(-1)) by gavage for 50 days. The estrous cycle during 50 days and the changes of hormone level such as FSH, LH, etc were monitored. Moreover, the ovaries were removed after sacrifice. The organ index was measured, and the ratios of different stages of follicles were analyzed by HE staining. Furthermore, the proportion of PCNA positive cells during all stages was detected by immunohistochemistry. The results showed that QUE could increase body weight of mice and reduce the anogenital distance (AGD) to some extent, and was able to disrupt mice's estrous cycle, but it could not extend or reduce the cycle regularity. It increased ovarian organ index with a dose-dependent manner. The proportion of the primordial follicle and secondary follicles rose obviously, and that of mature follicles', atretic follicles' and corpus luteums' reduced, while primordial follicle had no change. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that QUE could effectively increase the percentage of proliferating cells in all kinds of follicles. Serum hormone assay showed that there were significant changes of FSH and LH levels. In summary, QUE showed an estrogen-like effect on mice's ovarian development. The weight of ovary, the proportion of all kinds of follicles, the development of ovarian cells and the level of plasma hormone in mice were altered obviously by oral administration of QUE.

Objective To analyze the features of clinical diagnosis and treatment of duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST).Methods Retrospective analysis was performed on clinical data of 5 cases of duodenal GIST treated in our hospital between April 2002 and May 2009.Results The duodenal GIST was mainly located in the 2nd(3/5)and 3rd portion of duodenum(2/5).Clinical diagnosis of the disease mainly depended on barium meal examination, gastrointestinal endoscopy, and CT scanning.Two patients were treated with pancreaticoduodenectomy, 1 with segmental duodenectomy and 2 with local resection.After operation, 2 patients had recurrence and 1 of them underwent adjuvant therapy with Gleevec.Conclusion Surgical resection is the only effective therapeutic method for duodenal GIST.Various surgical procedures are mainly determined by the location and size of the tumors.For patients with a high degree of pathologic grade, adjuvant therapy with Gleevec is necessary.

Objective To study the value of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE)in combination with portal vein chemotherapy (PVC) after resection of hepatocellular carcinoma to prolong survival. Methods From January 2000 to July 2007, 168 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) underwent tumor resection in our hospital. After operation, TACE in combination with PVC was performed in 48 patients (combined group), TACE alone in 26 (TACE group), PVC alone in 50 (PVC group) and none of the above in 44 (control group). All the patients were followed up for 17-96 months. The 1-, 3-and 5-year survival rates were compared among the 4 groups. Results Accumulative 1-, 3-and 5-year survival rates were higher in the combined and TACE groups than in PVC and control groups. Conclusion After resection of HCC, combined use of TACE and PVC is the same as TACE in prolonging patient survival. However, it is better than PVC alone and non-surgical procedure.
