Objective To evaluate the protective effects of oral administration of D-methionine tablets on noise-induced hearing loss.Methods A total of 203 volunteers were recruited and randomly divided into two groups:experimental group (n=113)and control group (n=90).The subjects in the experimental group received oral administration of D-methionine tablets(1 500 mg/day)and those in the control group received placebo for 3 days before impulse noise exposure.The routine audiometric evaluation and ABR testing were performed and recor-ded 1 day and 7 days post- noise exposure.The statistical analysis was carried out with SPSS 11.0.ResuIts The changes of hearing in all participators were observed after noise exposure.The results were as follow:The hearing thresh-olds at three time points were 40.5±9.3,51.7±12.3,44.1±11.4 dB nHL in experimental group and 41.5±8.9,62.4± 13.7,47.6±12.5 dB nHL in control group,respectlvely;the ABR I-V IPLs at three time points were 3.72±0.21 ms, 3.99±0.36 ms,3.82±0.25 ms in experimental group,while 3.71±0.22 ms,4.45±0.37 ms,3.85±0.34 ms in control group,respectively.There were statistically significant differences between the two groups.ConcIusion The oral adminis-tration of D-methionine tablets pre noise exposure can protect against noise-induced hearing loss.

Objective To examine the inhibitory effect of Chinese herbal Compound Dongju on 4-nitroquinoline 1-oxide(4NQO)-induced tongue carcinogenesis in rats. Methods A total of 85 Wistar rats were divided into four groups: model group(n=35),administration group(n=35),normal control group(n=5) and herb control group(n=10).4NQO dissolved in drinking water was administered orally to induce tongue carcinogenesis in rats.The herb compound was injected into the stomach of the rats during oral carcinogenesis.Rats were sacrificed at 9,13,20,24 and 32 weeks from the beginning of the experiment.The tongues of the rats were dissected for gross and histological assessment,and SP immunohistochemical method was also employed to detect the expression of cyclin D1 in the specimens. Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics,pathogen distribution and outcome of lower respiratory tract fungal infection in patients with mechanical ventilation in emergency intensive care unit(EICU). Methods The clinical data of patients with lower respiratory tract fungal infection treated with mechanical ventilation in EICU were retrospectively analysed. Results Eighty(64.5%) of the 124 patients with mechanical ventilation experienced lower respiratory tract infection,among whom 21(26.2%) were complicated with fungal infection.The predominant pathogen was Candida(Candida albicans,n=11;Candida tropicalis,n=5;Candida smooth,n=3;Candida parapsilosis,n=2).Compared with patients with non-fungal infection(n=59),those with fungal infection(n=21) had higher APACHE II score,longer mechanical ventilation time and longer ICU stay duration(P

Objective To explore the value of spiral CT in differentiation between benign and malignant thyroid tumor.Methods CT findings of thyroid tumor confirmed by the pathology in 50 patients,were retrospectively analyzed and in comparison with the data of operation and pathology.Results There were benign tumor(n=35)and malignant tumor(n=15)in this study.All the benign tumors were thyroid adenoma.The malignant tumors included thyroid carcinoma(n=14)and lymphoma(n=1).All the cases of thyroid benign tumors demonstrated clear margin and homogeneous enhancement.Cystic area and curvilinear or mass calcification could be seen in some cases.Some characteristic signs,such as irregular tumor outline,fine discrete granular and irregular calcification,heterogeneous enhancement,invading neighbor structures and cervical lymph node metastasis,could only been seen in thyroid malignant tumors.Conclusion Spiral CT has a notable advantage in differential diagnosis between benign and malignant thyroid tumor.

Objective:To explore the characteristics of human melanoma-specific antigen peptides by HLA-A2 restricted tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes.Methods:The HLA-A2 protein and polypeptides molecules were purified from the three tumor cell lines(624-Mel, Chap-Mel and JY) by immunoaffinity chromatography, after the peptides bound to HLA-A2 protein solution were acidified with acetic acid and boiled by high temperature, and centrifuged through an Ultra-CL filter, then the peptides extracts were fractionated by revered phase high pressure liquid chromatography(RP-HPLC). Individual fractions were assessed for their ability to reconstitute melanoma-specific epitopes by adding to the HLA-A2 Ag-procceing mutant cell, T2. The biological feature of one of three active peptides from RT-HPLC samples was performed by mass spectrometric analysis. The synthetic peptides identical to active peptide sequences were determined in the reconstitute test.Results:Three prominent peaks(P19, P25 and P31) of the fraction from 624-Mel were observed in the reconstitute test, TIL killing rate was 67% for (P31) peptide fraction. The mass spectrometric analysis of one of active peptides (P31) showed that at mass-to-charge ratio(m/z) 948 has been usually nine residues. The sequence is H+ Ala Lue Trp Lue Phe Phe Gly Val Lue OH-. The peptide synthesized comprising epitopes were verified.Conclusion:These results showed the peptides derived from active fractions were related to human melanoma-specific tumor antigen peptides recognized by HLA-A2-restriced TIL. These peptides could develop novel peptide-based an anti-tumor vaccine for immunotherapy of CTL.

Objective To investigate value of real-time three-dimensional echocardiography timingexcursion parametric index and 17 segment volume curves index in patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy and constrictive pericardits.MethodsSeventeen patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy (proven by biopsy) ,six patients with constrictive pericardits (proven by CT or surgical),twenty subjects with normal left ventricular(LV) function were examined by Philips iE33 with X3-1 probe.Results Parameter index of Tmsv 16-SD,Tmsv 12-SD Tmsv 6-SD,Tmsv 16-Dif,Tmsv 12-Dif,Tmsv 6-Dif,Tmsv 16-SD(%) ,Tmsv 12-SD(%),Tmsv 6-SD(%),Tmsv 16-Dif(%),Tmsv 12-Dif(%),Tmsv 6-Dif(%) was significantly higher in patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy than that in subjects with normal LV function(all P ＜0.05).Average and maximum value and minimum of excursion was significantly lower in patients with restrictive cardiomyopathy than that in subjects with normal LV function (all P ＜0.005).Whereas,compare with subjects with normal LV function,the parametric indexes of timing-excursion and 17 segment volume curves were not significantly difference in patients with constrictive pericardits(all P ＞0.05).Conclusions Realtime three-dimensional echocardiography can evaluate and diagnose fastly restrictive cardiomyopathy and constrictive pericardits.
