BACKGROUND:Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) results from an interruption of the blood supply to the femoral head or injury-caused death of chondrocytes and bone marrow components. Many osteogenesis-related factors, such as Runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), bone morphogenetic protein (BMP), osteoprotegerin and osteocalcin, are involved in the subsequent repair process. The Runx2 gene has been shown to control osteoblast differentiation and formation by upregulating the transcription of various mineralization-related protein genes, alowing osteoblast precursors differentiation into osteoblasts, and playing a key role in bone repair.
METHODS/DESIGN:This retrospective, single-center, non-randomized, paralel-controled trial was performed at Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, China. Fifteen patients with ONFH and 15 patients with osteoarthritis undergoing total hip replacement were included. Primary measure was Runx2messenger RNA (mRNA) expression in femoral head and neck tissue, and secondary measures included BMP-2, BMP-7 and osteoprotegerin mRNA expression, as wel as osteocalcin immunoreactivity. This trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (identifier: NCT02735538) and acquired written approval from the Ethics Committee of Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University (approval No. 2016PS222K). Written informed consent was obtained from each included patient.
DISCUSSION:This study involved in the detection of mRNA expression of several bone repair-related genes, including Runx2, in the femoral head and neck of patients with ONFH was performed between 2010 and 2011. This observational study wil help clarify the role and possible clinical significance of Runx2 in femoral head necrosis, bone repair and reconstruction.

Objective To observe the rotenone induced changes of nitric oxide (NO) concentration and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity in rat caudate nuclei and blood plasma. Methods Wistar rats were daily administrated with rotenone at the doses of 0.335, 0.670 and 1.005 mg/kg(sc). Animals were sacrificed on days 30, 60 and 90. The NO concentration and the NOS activity in the caudate nuclei and blood plasma were determined by biochemical methods. Results At each time point of days 30, 60 and 90, rotenone induced significant increases in NO concentration and NOS activity in both the caudate nuclei and blood plasma in dose and time dependent manners. Conclusion Long term exposure to rotenone leads to the increase of nitric oxide and nitric oxide synthase in brain tissues and blood plasma in rat.

Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
The effects of solid-state fermentation (SSF) and submerged fermentation (SmF) and the addition of olive oil on the whole-cell lipase production by Rhizopus chinensis CCTCC M201021 were investigated.Compared with SSF, higher biomass, hydrolytic activity and synthetic activity were observed in SmF.By the addition of olive oil, the synthetic activity of whole-cell lipase in both fermentations was enhanced significantly, especially in SmF, while the biomass and the hydrolytic activity were also increased.Hence, olive oil serves as both carbon source and the inducer of lipases in fermentation. It was also found that the synthetic activity of whole-cell lipase was not accordant to the hydrolytic activity during both SmF and SSF, suggesting that isoenzymes with difference in lipase properties may be produced by Rhizopus chinensis.

The diabetes is mainly treated by the oral administration of western medicines at present. Despite their rapid curative effect, there have been still many reports for the western medicines about their clinical adverse reactions, failure of effective prevention and treatment of complications and drug resistance. Hence, they are not suitable for long-term administration. Traditional Chinese medicines have a long history in treating diabetes mellitus (DM) , which is commonly known as Xiaokezheng in the theory of traditional Chinese medicines. In recent years, many scholars have taken extracts from traditional Chinese medicines or separated active constituents as the study objects in the expectation of developing new-type drugs for treating and preventing diabetes. Therefore, a large number of study reports have been emerged in this field. Due to their significant glucose-reducing effect and specific effect in treating complications of diabetes, traditional Chinese medicine Gardeniae Fructus and its iridoid component geniposide shall be given full attention. This paper summarized the advance in studies on the curative effect and action mechanism of Gardeniae Fructus and geniposide in preventing and treating diabetes.

Objective To search for the changes of T cells subpopulations and immunoglobulin and their relation-ship in children patients with simple nephrotic syndrome. Design Case-control research. Patients aud Participants 39 patients with simple nephrotic syndrome were divided into two groups:the incipient group and relapse group (6 cases were determined at the incipient and relapse time) .Thereare 28 patients in incipient group, 19 males and 9 females, at the age of 2 to 10 years old. There are20 patients in relapse group, 12 males and 8 females, at the age of 3 to 13 years old. There are 35health children in control group, 21 males and 14 females, 2~13 years old. Interventions T cells subpopulations were determined by indirect immunofluorescence of OKT linesmonoclonal antibodies. The serum IgG was determined by routine simple agar immunodiffusion tests. Results and Conclusions The CD_3~+ and CD_4~+ cells are of no change in the children patients withsimple nephrotic syndrome, and the CD_8~+ and CD_(10)~+ cells are obviously increased, the Values of CD_4~+/CD_8~+ are obviously lower than those in the control qroup, there are no difference between the incipientand relapse groups. The levels of serum IgG were decreased in the 85.3% children patients, IgM were inc-reased in 29.4% of that. The values of CD_4~+/CD_8~+ have positive correlation and negative correlationwith the levels of serum IgG and IgM respectively.

With patients' general situation, medication use, occurrence time of adverse drug reaction/event (ADR/ADE), clinical manifestations and prognosis as reference items, a retrospective study was made for 315 cases with ADR/ADE induced by Gastrodin in Chongqing from January 2008 to June 2014, in order to analyze the characteristics of ADR/ADE and provide reference for rational clinical medication. The results showed that among the 315 cases with ADR/ADE, 143 cases (45.4%) were males and 172 cases (54.6%) were females, most of them (74.9%) were aged above 45; 60 cases (19.0%) with ADE were caused by off-label indications and 66 cases (21.0%) with ADE were caused by over dosage; ADR/ADE cases induced by intravenous drip mainly happened within 30 min (85.5%), ADR/ADE cases induced by oral administration mainly happened within 2 h (74.4%), and all of ADR/ ADE cases induced by intramuscular injection happened within 10 min. Totally 593 ADR/ADE cases were reported, which were mainly damages in gastrointestinal system, skin and its adnexa; And 61.9% of ADR/ADE cases were newly reported. It is suggested that medical workers shall learn about the regularity and characteristics of ADR/ADE induced by gastrodin, apply it in clinic with standards, pay close attention to changes of patients' situations and attach importance to the monitoring of ADR/ADE, so as to enhance the safety of medication.
