Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(03):-
Objective To analyze the distribution and antimicrobial resistance of pathogens from patients with hospital infection in intensive care unit(ICU),and to discuss the corresponding strategy of prevention and treatment. Methods Clinical data of 891 patients hospitalized in the ICU of our hospital between Jan 2002 and Dec 2005 were collected. All the specimens were analyzed for pathogen distribution and resistance to antibiotics. Results Of all the isolated 1 155 strains,Gram-negative(G-)bacteria were the most popular pathogen(57.84%),whereas Gram-positive(G+) bacteria and fungi accounted for 21.39% and 20.78%,respectively.Most G-bacteria were less sensitive to imipenem(0-10.16%),and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was least sesitive to amikacin(6.89%) and cefoperazone-sulbactam(33.97%).G+ bacteria were most sensitive to vancomycin. Most fungus were Candida albicans(42.92%) and yeast species(22.90%). Conclusion Epidemiological investigation of pathogens in ICU is of great importance to the rational use of anti-biotics and may help to reduce the emergence of resistant strains.

Journal of Interventional Radiology 2006;0(12):-
Objective To evaluate the blood supply features and effectiveness of arterial chemoembolization for pedunculated hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods Angiography and chemoembolization via supplying blood arteries of tumor were performed in five patients with pedunculated hepatocellular carcinoma.Interventional procedure was carried out with tumor vascular infusion of 350 mg hot elemene emulsion and tumor embolization by cisplantin-lipidol emulsion(cisplantin 60-80 mg+lipidol 8-15 ml)and glutin. Results Ten interventional procedures(TACE)were undertaken in 5 patients.Angiography showed that tumor blood supply mainly coming from collateral circulation adjacent to the tumors, but partially from hepatic artery.Tumor sizes decreased from 30% to 50% in 5 cases, and AFP declined in 4 cases after the treatment. Conclusion Pedunculated hepatocellular carcinoma possessing different blood supply features from intrahepatocellular carcinomas. But transarterial ehemoembolization is still an effective method of choice for this treatment.

There was no significant difference in incidence rate of adverse drug reactions between two groups , P=0. 784. Con‐clusion : L‐carnitine combined cAMP can significantly reduce peripheral serum IFN‐γ level and increase IL‐4 level , regulate Th1/Th2 imbalance with significant therapeutic effect in VMC patients .And its safety is good .

Journal of Southern Medical University 2006;26(4):495-497
OBJECTIVETo observe the changes of auditory steady-state response (ASSR) threshold in guinea pigs with posterior semicircular canal fistula.
METHODSIn 10 guinea pigs, a window was opened in the posterior semicircular canal of the left ear with the right ear serving as the control for testing the ASSR under anesthesia with pentobarbital sodium.
RESULTSThe mean and standard deviation of ASSR threshold (dB SPL) at 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 kHz in the left ear was 35.00+/-14.33, 25.50+/-12.37, 20.00+/-9.37 and 20.00+/-9.18, respectively, and was 31.00+/-16.19, 25.50+/-12.34, 18.00+/-6.96 and 18.50+/-6.71 in the right ear, respectively. Paired-sample t test showed no significant difference in the ASSR at the same frequency between the two ears.
CONCLUSIONSmall fistula by surgery causes no significant hearing loss in guinea pigs.

Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2010;30(9):919-921
OBJECTIVETo observe the relationship of Chinese medicine (CM) syndrome pattern with heart function detected by ultrasonic cardiography and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level in patients with heart failure (HF).
METHODSOne hundred and sixteen inpatients of HF hospitalized in Dongfang Hospital from January, 2007 to January, 2009 were assigned to three groups according to their CM syndrome pattern differentiated, the qi-yin deficiency group (QYD), the qi-deficiency and blood-stasis group (QDBS) and the yang-deficiency with water overflowing group (YDWO). Ultrasonic cardiographic (USCG) parameters, including left ventricular end-systolic diameter (LVEDs), left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDd) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were detected, and blood level of BNP was measured.
RESULTSLVEF was decreased while BNP was increased in patients with syndrome patterns in the order of QYD --> QDBS --> YDWO, and showed significant difference between groups (P < 0.01); CM syndrome patterns was related with all the USCG parameters and BNP level, especially the BNP (r = 0.71, P < 0.05) and LVEF (r = -0.34, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONLVEF and BNP can reflect the severity of heart failure, and they could be taken as the beneficial objective and quantitative indices for syndrome pattern differentiation.

Objective To evaluate the reliability and validity of the application of condensed Chinese version of the MOS 36-item short form health survey (SF-36) in assessment of quality of life among adult patients with Kashin-Beck disease, and to provide a scientific basis in rehabilitation of the patients. Methods Four hundred and twenty seven eases of adult patients with Kashin-Back disease and 419 healthy individuals randomly selected in Kashin-Beck disease endemic areas in 8 counties of Gansu province were surveyed with the SF-36.The reliability of the SF-36 was assessed by split-half reliability and Cronbach's α coefficient and the validity through principal component factor analysis and correlation analysis, etc. The dimension scores of different people were obtained by analysis of variance and univariate t-test.Results The split-half reliability of all the 8 dimensions was greater than 0.6 and the Cronbach's α coefficient was greater than 0.8; the pearson correlate coefficients of all the items to their dimensions were greater than 0.391.SF-36 contained 8 domains and 2 summary scales in the factor analysis. The score differences of quality of life in different ages of the patients, different stages of the disease were statistically significant (all P < 0.05).Conclusion The SF-36 is practical in studying the quality of life among adult patients with Kashin-Beck Disease.

OBJECTIVETo explore the molecular mechanism of dutasteride inhibiting fertility by studying its effects on the expressions of the epididymal epithelial junction proteins Claudin1 and β-catenin in rats.
METHODSSixteen 3-month-old SD male rats were equally divided into an experimental and a negative control group to be treated intragastrically with dutasteride at 40 mg/kg per day and the same dose of solvent, respectively, for 14 consecutive days. Then, the sperm motility and morphology of the rats were detected by computer-assisted sperm analysis, the serum levels of testosterone (T) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) measured by ELISA, changes in the tight junction of epididymal cells observed under the transmission electron microscope, the protein and gene expressions of Claudin1 and β-catenin determined by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry, and the conception rate of the mated female rats calculated.
RESULTSDutasteride significantly suppressed the serum DHT level, sperm motility, and fertility of the rats (P <0.05). Interspaces between epididymal epithelial cell tight junctions were observed, the volume of epididymal fluid obviously increased, and the expressions of Claudin1 and β-catenin gene and protein remarkably downregulated in the experimental rats (P <0.05).
CONCLUSIONDutasteride can significantly inhibit the fertility of male rats by reducing the serum DHT level, suppressing Claudin1 and β-catenin expressions, and damaging epididymal epithelial cell junctions.
