Objective To investigate the current situation and influencing factors of humanistic caring ability of emergency nurses, and provide evidence for the establishment of humanistic caring ability training of emergency nurses. Methods A total of 125 nurses working in the Emergency Department of a Class Ⅲ Grade A hospital in Shanghai from June to July 2016 were recruited in the study using cluster sampling. Demographic Data Questionnaire and Caring Ability Inventory (CAI) were used to analyze the current situation and influencing factors of humanistic caring ability of nurses. Results The total CAI score of emergency nurses was (184.41±16.50) and at a low level. There was statistically significant difference in patience score of nurses with different ages (P<0.05). Nurses with different demographic statistics had no significant differences in the humanistic caring ability (P>0.05). Conclusions The humanistic caring ability of emergency nurses is at a low level, which requires intensive training.
