Vaccination is the primary strategy for the prevention and control of pandemic influenza. Because influenza virus is highly variable across strains, universal influenza vaccines need to be developed to address this problem. This review describes the research progress in conserved epitopes of influenza virus, the advances in the research and development of universal influenza vaccines based on the relatively conserved sequences of NP, M2e, HA2, and headless HA, the mechanisms of cross-protection, and the methods to improve cross-protection.

OBJECTIVETo investigate occupational health status of female workers in pharmaceutical industries and to propose the protective measures for the occupational health.

METHODA total of 2816 female workers from 19 pharmaceutical industries in Shandong and Gansu provinces were investigated by a questionnaire.

RESULTS73.1% of female workers exposed to occupational hazards, mainly to toxic chemicals. 63.2% of them suffered from dysmenorrhea; 38.5% of them have reproductive system diseases, i.e. mammary gland hyperplasia (44.1%), cervical erosion (26.5%), uterine annex inflammation (24.2%); 17.1% of them suffered from accidental work injuries; 34.7% of them complained about low back pain, and 29.7% of them perceived hearing loss. 94.9% of female workers hoped to get the occupational health and labor protection knowledge and skills.

CONCLUSIONStrengthening the supervision of labor protection for female workers, including technical measures occupational hazards control and health-related knowledge, and improving the occupational health status of female workers should be conducted.

Objective To discuss the effect of the family-nurse health education on the management of patients with pre-hospital pressure sores.Methods A total of 110 pre-hospital pressure sores patients were randomly divided into control group (n =55) and treatment group (n =55).Families of the treatment group participated directly in the nursing processes and the follow-up health education on the basis of regular education,while patients of the control group received regular education and their families received admission education and discharge instructions etc.The intervention lasted for three months,and the changes of both the patients and their families' mastery of rudiments of pressure sore,their nursing skills and the re-occurrence of pressure sore were observed.Results No significant difference was found in the cases of different level of pressure sore before the intervention between treatment group and control group(Ⅰ:4 vs 6,Ⅱ:22 vs 24,Ⅲ:19vs 16,Ⅳ:10 vs 9;u =0.796 7,P ＞ 0.05).After the intervention,patients and their families' awareness rate of rudiments of pressure sore and of relevant nursing skills etc.in treatment group was better than that in control group,and the difference was statistically significant (u =5.612 5,P ＜ 0.05).The reoccurrence rate of pressure sore of the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group (no reoccurred:45 vs 12,Ⅰ:4vs12,Ⅱ:5vs19,Ⅲ:1vs10,Ⅳ:0vs2;u=1.8526,P＜0.05).Conclusions The family-nurse health education for the patients with pre-hospital pressure sore during the nursing process and follow-up education is more helpful for the families to grasp the rudiments of pressure sore and the nursing sills that can prevent the occurrence of pressure sore,thus lowering the reoccurrence rate of pressure sore.

OBJECTIVETo assess the utility of P504S immunohistochemistry in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of prostatic adenocarcinoma.

METHODSLight microscopy and immunohistochemistry examinations (EnVision staining) were performed in 117 cases of prostatic adenocarcinoma, PIN, AAH, ASAP, BPH and normal prostatic tissue to correlate the morphology and protein expression of P504S, 34betaE12, and P63.

RESULTSSeventy-one of the 78 (91%) cases of prostatic adenocarcinoma stained positive for P504S, with strong cytoplasmic granular staining in most cases, and a weak or intense granular staining along the circumferential luminal and apical cell border membrane in a few cases. Negative P504S immunostaining was observed in 7 of 78 (9%) cases of prostatic adenocarcinoma, all of which were clear cell type prostatic adenocarcinoma. Cases of PIN (9 cases), AAH (6 cases) and ASAP (2 cases) showed various expression levels of P504S. Sixty-five of 68 (96%) cases of normal prostates and BPH were negative for P504S and basal cell hyperplasia cases were also negative.

CONCLUSIONSP504S is a useful marker for microscopic diagnosis of prostatic adenocarcinoma, and immunohistochemistry study using a combination of P504S and 34betaE12/p63 may be of greater benefit in aiding the differential diagnoses.

This study aims to investigate the function of two SNPs (rs8904C > T and rs696G >A) in 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of NFKBIA gene by constructing luciferase reporter gene. A patient's genomic DNA with rs8904 CC and rs696 GA genotype was used as the PCR template. Full-length 3'UTR of NFKBIA gene was amplified by different primers. After sequencing validation, these fragments were inserted to the luciferase reporter vector, pGL3-promoter to construct recombinant plasmids containing four kinds of haplotypes, pGL3-rs8904C/rs696G, pGL3-rs8904C/rs696A, pGL3-rs8904T/rs696G and pGL3-rs8904T/rs696A. Then these plasmids were transfected into LS174T cells and the luciferase activity was detected. Compared with pGL3-vector transfected cells (negative control), the luciferase activity of the four kinds of recombinant plasmids was significantly decreased (P < 0.001). For rs696G > A, the luciferase activity of the recombinant plasmids containing A allele (pGL3-rs8904C/rs696A and pGL3-rs8904T/rs696A) was about 45.1% (P < 0.05) and 56.1% (P < 0.001) lower than those containing G allele (pGL3-rs8904C/rs696G and pGL3-rs8904T/rs696G), respectively. For rs8904C > T, there were no significant differences in the luciferase activity between the recombinant plasmids containing T allele and those with C allele. Together, the luciferase reporter gene vectors containing SNPs in NFKBIA gene 3'UTR were constructed successfully and rs696G > A could decrease the luciferase activity while rs8904C >T didn't have much effect on the luciferase activity.
