Objective To investigate the applicability of Cys C-based formulas for prediction of GFR in Chinese patients with CKD.Methods A total of 176 adult patients with CKD including 90 males and 86 females collected from 4 hospitals located in different geographic regions of China (Beijing,Shanghai,Dalian and Changsha) were enrolled in this study from September 2007 to July 2009.The rGFR was measured using 99mTc-DTPA clearance rate two-sample method.Cystantic C was measured by PETIA and PENIA respectively. The results of eGFR in the Larsson formula,Grubb formula,Hoek formula,Filler formula,Stevens formula and Hojs formula were compared with the rGFR to evaluate the calculation coherence, bias, precision, accuracy and the performance of correct phasing of the formulas. Results The mean 99mTc-DTPA clearance was [40.70 ( 19.09 - 86.49)] ml · min-1 · ( 1.73m2 ) -1.Significant difference was witnessed in the evaluation of GFR estimation formulas calculated by PETIA and PENIA (P <0.01).ICC and Spearman correlation analysis revealed a significant correlation between eGFR and rGFR.The ICCs of eGFR and rGFR ranged from 0.874 to 0.938.Compared with rGFR,the 30% accuracy of all the eight evaluation formulas using PETIA and PENIA method were lower than 60%.The percentages of correct phasing in all the 5 stages of CKD were not ideal. With these formulas, percentages of correct phasing from CKD stage 2 to CKD stage 4 were lower than 65%.The eGFRs were underestimated by formulas evaluated by PENIA in CKD stage 1.All the eGFRs were overestimated remarkably by all equations in CKD stage 5.Conclusions None of the eight Cys C based formulas are ideal for estimation of GFR in Chinese CKD patients, and they can not be applied to Chinese patients directly. For this patient population, further studies will be needed to develop a more accurate Cys C-based GFR estimation formula that includes ethnicity, age and other factors.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of skin wound induction gel on the glans scabbing rate, class-A wound healing rate, and wound healing time of circumcision for phimosis in pediatric patients.
METHODSWe randomly assigned 48 six to thirteen years old children with phimosis to an experimental group (n = 25) and a control group (n = 23) to be treated by circumcision. After surgery, the patients in the experimental group received application of skin wound induction gel while those in the control group received that of povidone iodine only to the glans and incision. We recorded and compared the glans scabbing rate, class-A wound healing rate, and wound healing time between the two groups of patients.
RESULTSGlans scabbing was observed in 3 cases in the experimental group and 17 cases in the control group (12.0% vs 73.9%, P < 0.01). No statistically significant differences were found in the rate of class-A wound healing between the two groups (100% vs 91.3%, P > 0.05). The wound healing time was significantly shorter in the experimental than in the control group ([10.7 ± 1.7] d vs [11.9 ± 2.1] d, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONPost-circumcision application of skin wound induction gel to the glans and incision can effectively reduce glans secreta, alleviate inflammatory reaction, and shorten the healing time in the treatment of phimosis in children.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the regulation trend of Jinxin Oral Liquid (JXOL) on the expression of negative regulatory factor of TLR3 signaling pathway SOCS1 in the lung tissue of RSV infected BALB/c mice at different time points.
METHODSTotally 75 BALB/c mice were randomly divided into 5 groups, i.e., the normal control group, the model group, the ribavirin group, the high dose JXOL group, and the equivalent dose JXOL group, 15 in each group. Each group had 3 intervention ways (I, II, and III) with 5 mice treated in each group. BALB/c mice were nasally infected with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and treated by different intervention ways. After intervention, mice were killed and their lung tissues were sampled, mRNA expression levels of RSV-M, SOCS1, and IFN-β were detected by Real time PCR. The expression of SOCSl at the protein level was detected by Western blot.
RESULTSCompared with the normal control group, the mRNA expression level of SOCS1 and IFN-β, and the protein expression level of SOCS1 increased significantly in the model group intervened by intervention I and II (all P < 0.01), but the mRNA expression level of IFN-β decreased significantly in model group intervened by intervention III (P < 0.01). Compared with the model group, the mRNA expression level of RSV-M all significantly decreased in the high dose JXOL group and the equivalent dose JXOL group intervened by 3 intervention ways (all P < 0.01). The mRNA expression level of SOCS1 significantly decreased in the high dose JXOL group intervened by intervention I and III and the equivalent dose JXOL group intervened by 3 intervention ways (all P < 0.01). The mRNA expression level of IFN-β significantly decreased in the high dose JXOL group intervened by intervention I and II and the equivalent dose JXOL group intervened by intervention I (all P < 0.01), while it significantly increased in the high dose JXOL group intervened by intervention III and the equivalent dose JXOL group intervened by intervention III (all P < 0.01). The protein expression level of SOCS1 significantly decreased in the high dose JXOL group intervened by intervention I and the equivalent dose JXOL group intervened by 3 intervention ways (all P < 0.01), while it significantly increased in the high dose JXOL group intervened by intervention III (all P < 0.01). Compared with the high dose JXOL group, the mRNA expression level of RSV-M decreased significantly in the equivalent dose JXOL group intervened by intervention I and II (P < 0.01). The mRNA expression level of SOCS1 and IFN-β decreased significantly in the equivalent dose JXOL group intervened by intervention I (P < 0.01), but the mRNA expression level of IFN-β increased significantly in the equivalent dose JXOL group intervened by intervention II and III (all P < 0.01). The protein expression level of SOCS1 decreased significantly in the equivalent dose JXOL group intervened by 3 intervention ways (all P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSJXOL could inhibit the expression of SOCS1 in the lung tissue of RSV infected BALB/c mice at different time points. Its regulatory effect might be associated with promoting the expression of interferon type I and further fighting against RSV.
