Objective To observe the clinical effect of adjustable moxibustion box on kidney-deficiency related lumbago. Methods 97 kidney-deficiency related lumbago patients were randomly divided into treatment group (48 patients) and control group (49 patients). Treatment group was treated by adjustable moxibustion box, while the control group accepted the traditional moxibustion box. Duration of the treatment was two weeks.Results The overall efficacy of the treatment group 85.41% was significantly higher than that of the control group 71.43% ( x2 =4. 841 ,P =0. 027 8 ). The overall incidence of local skin burning sensation and side effect of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group ( P ＜ 0. 01 or P ＜ 0. 05 ). Conclusions Treatment with adjustable moxibustion box improves the efficacy and reduces side effects, which is an effective therapy to the kidney-deficiency related lumbago.
