Objective To evaluate the role of postoperative electron beam radiotherapy in the management of ke-loids. Methods Between January 2004 and December 2006,116 cases of keloids were treated with 6 MeV electron beam radiotherapy within 24 h after surgical resection of the keloids. All patients had received a total of 21 Gy in seven daily 3-Gy fractions. Treatment was started at the 24th h after surgery. Patients were followed up and the information regarding treatment results, early and late radiation toxicity,and the satisfaction level by self-assessments was recorded. Results Recurrence occurred in 17 cases of keloids(14. 7%),and was correlated with site of the lesions(χ~2 =29. 91,P<0. 01). Most recurrences were observed at site of sternum (10/43) and shoulder (5/13 ). Keloid associated symptoms, e. g. itching and pain, were improved in 88. %%. For early toxicity outcomes, 100% had grade 1～2 skin erythema,7. 8% had wound delayed union,and 4. 3% had infection. For late toxicity outcomes, 30. 2% reported grade 1～2 hyperpigmentation, 11. 2% grade 1～2 hypopigmentation, and 5. 2% grade 1 telangiectasia. No severe complications or secondary malignancies were observed. 72. 4% patients described the results of treatment as excellent or good,and 15. 5% patients were not satisfied with the treatment results. Conclusion Postoperative electron radiotherapy is well tolerated and effective in preventing keloid recurrence.

Objective To observe the effect of the operation and application value of encircling constriction of superficial femoral vein with electrocoagulation in the varicose veins of lower extremity.Methods 271 cases were divided into the research group(n=166)with encircling constriction of superficial femoral vein with electro-coagulation and the control group(n=105)with traditional encircling constriction of superficial femoral vein with electrocoagulation.The degrees of the venous reflux,velocities of blood flow,CEAP classification and clinical scoring of the two groups were compared.Results The research group was better than the control group on decrease in de- grees of the venous reflux.increase in velocities of blood flow and decrease in clinical scores(P<0.01).Conclu- sions The encircling constriction of superficial femoral vein with electrocoagulation is the desirable method in the treatment of varicose veins of the lower extremity.

For medical service provision for the Olympic Games, a special medical service mechanism for important international sport events eventually took shape, based on task analysis and medical services provided in test games for two years including 2006 and 2007 Qingdao Sailing Regatta. This mechanism features the following: First, "7-Special" sport event medical practice - Medical zones, medical teams, service flows, service signs, medical papers, and drug management, all exclusively earmarked for the event; Second, medical services up to international standard; Third, special flows for medical rescue; Fourth, Special system for information reporting. Thanks to this special mechanism, the hospital provided its medical assurance for the Olympic Games successfully, and upgraded its routine medical services as a result.

Objective To study the rational daily administration times of Yinchenhao Decoction (YCHD) when it was used to treat experimental jaundice in rats based on pharmacodynamics/pharmacokinetics model.MethodsRats were modeled by 4％ 1-naphthylisothiocyanate (75 mg/kg) for 48 h,then YCHD was drenched with doses of 0.324 g/kg (extract,calculated with the clinical dosage) once,0.162 g/kg twice,and 0.108 g/kg thrice a day,respectively.The total bile and the flow rate of bile were observed after the first administration; Blood samples collected from the orbital sinus at different intervals were used to investigate the levels of liver enzymes (ALT and AST) and bilimbins (TBIL and DBIL),and determine the concentration of 6,7-dimethoxycoumarin (DME) in the plasma using UPLC at the same time,then we obtained the time-effect and time-dose curves.The rational daily administration times of YCHD when treating experimental jaundice were determined based on the comprehensive analysis of time-effect and time-concentration relationships.ResultsWithin 10 h the total bile of rats which were administered once daily (G1) was I.65 and 1.33 times higher than that of twice and thrice (G2 and G3) a day,respectively,and the four biochemical indexes (TBIL,ALT,DBIL,and AST) of Gl decreased faster than those of G2 and G3 (P ＜ 0.05).On the other hand,the blood drug level of DME when administrated once daily could maintain at a higher level for a longer time,and its Cmax and AUC0→t were higher than those of G2 and G3,which might be the main reason why its effect was the most significant.ConclusionIt is more appropriate to administrate once daily when YCHD is used to treat jaundice.

Objective:To explore the role and mechanism of Talin-1 in mouse aortic dissection.Methods:Sixty male FVB mice were evenly divided into groups of blank, model, Talin-1 up-regulation, Talin-1 up-regulation control, Talin-1 down-regulation, and Talin-1 down-regulation control. Except mice in the blank group, mice were treated with β-aminopropionitrile (BAPN) combined with angiotensin to construct a mouse aortic dissection model. Hematoxylin-eosin and vascular elastic fiber staining (EVG) were used to observe the aorta and elastic fiber morphology and structure. Western blot was used to detect the phosphorylation levels of FAK and ERK1 / 2 in mouse aortic tissue.Results:The success rate of aortic dissection in model mice was 70%, and there was no aortic dissection appeared in the blank group.No mice died during the experiment. The incidence of aortic dissection in the Talin-1 down-regulated group was 100%, which was significantly higher than that in the Talin-1 down-regulated control group( P<0.05). The incidence of aortic dissection in the Talin-1 up-regulated group was 20%, significantly lower than that in the Talin-1 up-regulated control group. The wall thickness of the aorta of mice in the Talin-1 down-regulated group was accompanied by hematoma or pseudocavity formation. The median elastic fiber content was higher than that in the Talin-1 downregulation control group( P<0.05). The content of elastic fibers in the blood vessel wall of mice in the Talin-1 up-regulation group was significantly higher than that in the Talin-1 up-regulation control group.The down-regulation of Talin-1 significantly inhibited FAK phosphorylation, and instead promoted ERK1/2 phosphorylation( P<0.05). Conclusions:Down-regulation of Talin-1 may reduce the elastic fiber content in the aorta of mice by activating the ERK1/2 signaling pathway, leading to vascular remodeling of the aortic wall and promoting the occurrence of aortic dissection.

Objective:To evaluate the in vivo osteogenic activity of titanium implants with strontium loaded TiO 2 nanotubes (NTSr). Methods:The strontium loaded titanium nanotubes were formed on pure titanium implants through anodization and hydrothermal treatment, and the unmodified titanium (Control) and sheer TiO 2 nanotubes (NT) were set to be control groups and treatment group. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was used to evaluate the Sr release at 28 days. Field emission scanning electron microscopes (FE-SEM) was used to view the micro-topography, atomic force microscope was used to exam the surface roughness, and nano-indenter was used to evaluate the hardness of three groups ( n=3). Three groups of implant samples were inserted into the distal femoral metaphysis of New Zealand rabbits ( n=4 at each time point). After 4 weeks and 12 weeks, samples were harvested. Micro-CT scanning, immunofluorescent and histological examinations were carried out. Results:The strontium ions could be released slowly for at least 28 days [the Sr concentration at 28 Day was (2.6±1.5) ng/ml]. NTSr coating exhibited a nanoscale tube array (the diameter was about 70 nm), and the surface roughness of implant was increased with the nanobube coating [Control (34.8±5.3) nm, NT (66.2±4.3) nm, NTSr (85.7±10.6) nm, F=37.59, P<0.001]. The surface roughness (Ra) of NT and NTSr groups was higher than the control group ( P<0.05). Comparing to Control implants, NTSr implants exhibited a better osteogenic ability [the bone volume/total volume (BV/TV) value was Control (24.7±1.1)% vs. NTSr (37.7±1.9)% at 4 weeks ( P<0.05), and Control (40.7±0.9)% vs. NTSr (51.9±2.1)% at 12 weeks ( P<0.05)]. The fluorescent examination revealed that NTSr coating can also accelerated the generation of new bone tissue (bone tissue area% labelled by alizarin red at day 7 was Control (19.2±2.9)% vs. NT (35.4±3.7)% vs. NTSr (40.9±0.9)% ( F=42.74, P<0.01). The results in the NT and NTSr group were statistically higher than that in the control group ( P<0.05). Conclusions:The strontium loaded TiO 2 nanotubes can enhance new bone formation around titanium implants.

Objectives To detect the nm23 expression in osteosarcoma, analyze the correlation between nm23 expression and early metastasis and to study the relation between nm23 expression with tumor differentiation and cell proliferation, as defined by Ki-67 labeling.Methods nm23 oncoprotein expression was measured by immunohistochemical staining using formalin fixed, paraffin embedded sections of 39 surgically resected osteosarcomas and was compared with Ki-67 expression, histological findings and early metastasis. In each sample, the grading of immunoreactivity was recorded as 0, 1+, 2+ according to the percentage of nm23 and Ki-67 labeling cells respectively.Results The cases with more than 25% positive immunoreactivity of nm23 protein were detected in 48.7% of the total cases. There was no statistical difference between nm23 expression and early metastasis, but the cases with nm23 expression appeared to have a trend to get early metastasis. nm23 expression was significantly correlated with Ki-67 expression, which was associated with differentiation of the tumor cells.Conclusion The role of nm23 as a tumor metastasis suppressor in osteosarcoma is less prominent. Both nm23 and Ki-67 may help predict the possibility of early metastasis in human osteosarcomas.

Objective To investigate the relationship between Toxoplasma gondii (T.gondii) infection and metabolic syndrome (MS).Methods A total of 20 577 patients who received serum test of anti-T.gondii IgG antibody in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey ( NHANES) of the United States from 2009 to 2014 were collected to analyze the clinical features of anti-T.gondii IgG antibody positive patients , and to compare metabolic related indicators in the antibody IgG positive and negative groups .The independent sample t-test, chi-square test, and logistic regression analysis were used to explore the risk factors of MS . Results A total of 2 746 participants were positive for the T.gondii antibody (13.34%), with a higher prevalence of male (14.44%vs 12.27%, χ2 ＝15.99, P＜0.01).Meanwhile, the prevalence of T.gondii increased with age and body mass index (BMI) (χ2 ＝979.98 and 50.85,respectively, both P＜0.01).Among the 2 191 patients with MS, 449 (20.49%) patients were positive for T.gondii.While 2 297 (12.49%) patients were anti-T.gondii positive in 18 386 non-MS patients.The difference was statistically significant (χ2 ＝78.504, P＜0.01).Age (t＝-37.37), BMI (t＝-4.28), glycosylated hemoglobin (t＝-11.81), fasting blood glucose (t＝-9.38), triacylglycerol (t＝-6.32), cholesterol (t＝-7.16), serum uric acid (t＝-5.25) and serum creatinine (t＝-7.69) in the seropositive group were all higher than those in the seronegative group (all P＜0.01).After adjusting for age and gender , the prevalence of T.gondii was an independent risk factor for MS (odds ratio [OR]＝1.147,P＝0.023).Conclusions BMI, blood lipids, blood uric acid and blood glucose are significantly increased in patients with T.gondii infection.T.gondii infection is an independent risk factor for MS.

Objective:To explore the effect and value of the active learning mode based on mind mapping in the teaching of medical service support for major disasters.Methods:A total of 90 undergraduate students of 2016 Clinical Medicine of Naval Medical University were randomly selected as research objects, and they were randomly divided into observation group and control group. The 45 students in the control group used the traditional teaching mode, and the 45 students in the observation group used the mind mapping-based active learning mode for major disaster rescue and medical survice. The teaching time of the two groups was 12 h. The theoretical examination of knowledge and practical skills of the two groups of students were compared after teaching, and the students' satisfaction with the application of mind mapping-based teaching model in the teaching of medical service support for major disaster rescue was investigated. EmpowerStats and R softwares were used for t test and Chi-square test. Results:There were 24 males and 21 females in the observation group, with an average age of (21.40±0.69) years old. There were 22 males and 23 females, with an average age of (21.71±0.55) years old. The theoretical performance of the observation group (91.38±4.37) was significantly higher than that of the control group (84.91±3.98) ( P<0.001), and the practical skill performance of the observation group (92.98±3.24) was significantly higher than that of the control group (87.38±3.80) ( P<0.001). At the same time, the students' satisfaction with teaching effect in the observation group was 82.2% (37/45), which was significantly higher than that in the control group (37.8%, 17/45). Conclusion:The active learning mode based on mind mapping focuses on cultivating students' independent learning, interactive exploration and clinical thinking ability, and has a broad application prospect in the teaching of medical service support for major disasters.

Objective:To investigate the outcomes of surgical treatment for carotid body tumor(CBT) without preoperative embolization at our institution.Methods:101 patients undergoing surgical treatment for CBT without preoperative embolization from 2011 to 2016 were followed-up for 2 years.Results:Complete resection of the CBT was achieved in all 101 cases(100%). Post-operative adverse events(AEs) mostly observed during hospitalization were as tongue bias(Ⅰ: 4, 36.4%; Ⅱ: 8, 19.5%; Ⅲ: 13, 26.5%), hoarseness(Ⅰ: 1, 9.1%; Ⅱ: 4, 9.8%; Ⅲ: 7, 14.3%), dysphagia (Ⅰ: 0; Ⅱ: 2, 4.9%; Ⅲ: 7, 14.3%) and local hematoma(Ⅰ: 0; Ⅱ: 0; Ⅲ: 1, 2.0%). No other serious AEs were observed. The total incidence of AEs was 5(45.5%) in type Ⅰ patients, 14(34.1%) in type Ⅱ, and 28(57.1%) in type Ⅲ. At the end of 2 years of follow-up, there was no AEs in type Ⅰ patients. The number of patients with adverse events in type Ⅲ was greater than that in type Ⅱ ( P>0.05). Three most frequently injured cranial nerves were hypoglossal nerve(21.9%), vagus nerve(20.3%), and recurrent laryngeal nerve(18.8%). Conclusion:Surgical management without preoperative embolization for CBT patients does not increase the risk of complications nor is it related to prognosis.
