Objective To investigate the relationship between the expressions of VEGF,ENS, MVD and arteriosclerosis (AS) plaque in atherosclerosis obliterans (ASO) patients. Methods Immunohistochemical staining was used to determine the expression of VEGF, ENS and MVD value in the atherosclerosis plaque of ASO patients hospitalized from October 2007 to August 2010 in our hospital (n =30),and the femoral arterials of control were collected from 22 amputation after traumatic injury. Results The expressions of VEGF (2. 24 ±0.31 vs. 1.87 ±0.27,t =3.58),ENS (1.84 ±0.41 vs. 1. 56 ±0. 38, t =2.09) and MVD value (8.79 ±2.46 slip/HP vs. 6. 05 ±1.68 slip/HP, t =3.64) were significantly higher in the AS plaque of ASO patient than control (P <0.01 or P < 0. 05). We found positive correlations between the expression of VEGF, VEGF/ENS with MVD (r = 0. 391, P < 0. 01; r =0. 583, P < 0. 05) , while negative correlation between the expression of ENS with MVD (r=-0. 328,P <0. 05). Conclusion VEGF promotes the angiogenesis in atherosclerosis plaque, while ENS shows opposite effect The comprehensive performance of them is promoting angiogenesis.

Objective To explore the effect of blocking BTLA-HVEM (herpesvirus entry mediator-B and T lymphocyte attenuator) pathway on dendritic cell function and the related immunological mechanisms. Methods Murine BTLA extracellular domain eukaryotic expression vector psBTLA was constructed by gene recombination and transfected CHO by Lipofection method. Mouse bone marrow cells were induced to differentiate into DCs by GM-CSF plus IL-4. Expression of BTLA and HVEM on DCs was detected after HSPT0-TC-1 peptide complex stimulation by FACS. Expression of BT-1 and secretion of IL-12 were detected after HSP70-TC-1 peptide complex plus psBTLA transfected CHO culture supernatant stimulation on DCs. Pretreated DCs co-cultured with the same genetic background mouse splenocytes and lymphocytes proliferation and cytokine secretion were detected. Effect of psBTLA gene transfer in vivo on BT-1 expression of DCs and tumor growth on tumor-bearing mice was detected. Results Extracellular domain of murine BTLA was successfully constructed, psBTLA stable transfection CHO cells were obtained and expression of BTLA extracellular domain(sBTLA) was detected the in its culture supernatant. BTLA and HVEM expression of DCs were increased after stimulation by the antigen peptide complex. When DCs were treated with antigen peptide complex plus culture supernatant containing sBTLA, B7-1 expression and IL-12 secretion were increased. Co-cultured with splenocytes, lymphocytes proliferation and cytokine secretion, such as IL-2 and IFN-γ,, were also increased. Gene transfection with psBTLA in vivo promoted B7-1 expression on DCs and inhibited cervical cancer cells growth. Conclusion Blockade of BTLA-HVEM inhibitory pathway with sBTLA can further improve DCs function, activation of lymphocytes and promote antitumor immune response.

Objective To summarize and analyze the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of 585 cases of cutaneous sporotrichosis collected in Jilin province in the last 3 years. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on sporotrichosis cases diagnosed at the Department of Dermatology in the hospital from 2007 to 2009. Results Totally, 585 cases were included in this study. Among these patients, the male/female ratio was 1:1.35 with an average age of 40.5 years and average duration of symptoms of 6.78 months. The age at onset was mainly between 51 and 60 years (22.05%). Sporotrichosis seemed more frequently to occur in winter and spring. The majority (94.19%) of the patients were rural habitants, and 149 (25.47%) patients recalled history of trauma. Fixed form was the most common clinical presentation (56.58%), followed by lymphocutaneous form (39.66%), cutaneous disseminated form ( 1.88% ) and undefined form ( 1.88% ). The predilection sites of sporotrichosis were extremities (50.94%) and face (43.76%). The treatment of sporotrichosis included a 10% solution of potassium iodide, itraconazole and terbinafine alone or in combination. Two hundred and fifty patients were lost to follow up. Of the remaining 335 patients, 289 were cured with an average treatment duration of 2.09 months, 46 were still under follow-up or treatment. Conclusions The case load of sporotrichosis in Jilin province has remained high in recent years. The clinical and epidemic features of sporotrichosis cases in this report are similar to those in previous reports, but the proportion of middle-aged patients and atypical cases increases. Potassium iodide solution, itraconazole and terbinafine are effective and safe for the treatment of sporotrichosis.

ObjectiveTo analyze the exposure-response relationship of peripheral whole blood chromium level and lung function as well as genetic toxicity indicators in workers exposed to hexavalent chromium [Cr(Ⅵ)] compounds, and to propose a biological exposure limit of whole blood chromium for soluble Cr(Ⅵ) compounds-exposed workers. Methods A total of 515 workers from a dynamic occupational Cr(Ⅵ) compounds-exposed cohort in an enterprise from 2010 to 2017 were selected as the research subjects using a retrospective cohort study. A total of 918 followed-up results of research subjects and baseline data of a cohort were analyzed based on bibliometric analysis. The results include lung function tests, whole blood chromium level detected by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry, urinary 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) detected by high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, peripheral micronuclei frequency (MNF) detected by cytokinesis-block micronucleus assay, and mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtCN) detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Results The results of bibliometric analysis showed that domestic and foreign studies on biological monitoring of Cr(Ⅵ) compounds increased year by year in the past 30 years, and whole blood chromium levels had a good correlation with the occupational Cr(Ⅵ) compounds exposure. The geometric mean of whole blood chromium levels in males and females among the occupational Cr(Ⅵ) compounds exposure cohort was 2.77 and 1.79 μg/L, respectively. A turning point appeared in 6.00 μg/L chromium in whole blood of the exposure-response curve of whole blood chromium levels with lung function indicators and genetic toxicity indicators. For each unit increase in the natural logarithm-transformed whole blood chromium level, the forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) decreased by 0.05 L, the FEV1/forced-vital-capacity decreased by 0.67%, the peak expiratory flow decreased by 0.15 L/s, the maximal mid-expiratory flow decreased by 0.09 L/s, the MNF increased by 0.149‰, the urinary 8-OHdG increased by 0.090 μg/g, and the mtCN increased by 0.013. When the whole blood chromium level was >6.00 μg/L, there was a significant increase in urinary 8-OHdG, MNF, and mtCN (all P<0.01). Conclusion The level of whole blood chromium can be used as a biomarker for occupational exposure to soluble Cr(Ⅵ) compounds. The preliminary biological exposure limit is set at 6.00 μg/L for whole blood chromium in workers exposed to soluble Cr(Ⅵ) compounds.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of cetylpyridinium chloride buccal tablets on halitosis induced by oral conditions.
METHODSWith Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia and Fusobacterium nucleatum as the testing bacteria, the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of cetylpyridinium chloride buccal tablets was determined using minute amount serial dilution test. The production of volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) was measured using sulfide detector halimeter in the anaerobic bacteria culture at 4 and 8 h after addition of the tablets. The effect of the tablets in suppressing odor production by mouth-borne halitosis bacteria was assessed using cysteine challenge test in healthy volunteers, and the effectiveness was evaluated by measuring the reduction in VSCs production and the duration of the effect.
RESULTSCetylpyridinium chloride buccal tablets inhibited the growth of all the 3 bacteria. The tablets obviously inhibited VSCs production by the 3 bacteria with a effect similar to chlorhexidine. Compared with distilled water gargle, the buccal tablets significantly reduced cysteine-induced VSCs production level in the healthy volunteers (P<0.05), and the effect lasted for 230 min.
CONCLUSIONCetylpyridinium chloride tablets can obviously suppress bacteria responsible for oral halitosis and produce good effects in the treatment of halitosis induced by oral conditions.
