Objective To investigate the changes of osteopontin (OPN) expression in murine colitis induced by dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) and its role in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).MethodsThirty-two male BALB/C mice were randomly assigned into 4 groups: control group (group A), DSS-induced murine colitis model group (group B), salazosulfapyridine treatment group (group C) and infliximab treatment group (group D). Plasma OPN concentration was measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). OPN mRNA level was detect by using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and protein expression in colonic tissues was analyzed by using Western blotting. The location expression of OPN in colonic tissues was determined by immunohistochemical staining. ResultsIn group A, B,C and D, the plasma concentrations of OPN were (5.26±1.93) ng/ml, (10.21±2.37) ng/ml, (4.58±1.83) ng/ml and (4.82±1.83) ng/ml,respectively: the mRNA levels of OPN in colonic tissues were (0.36±0.16), (0.71±0.17),(0.32±0.07) and (0. 34±0. 08), respectively; the protein levels of OPN in colonic tissues were (0.44±0.10), (0.85±0.04), (0.61±0.11) and (0.58±0.17), respectively. The OPN-positive cell numbers in lamina propria mononuclear were (46.6±10.9), (155.5±43.8), (73.1±6.8) and (70.6±8.3), respectively. The expression of OPN in group B was significantly higher than that in group A (P<0.05). Compared with group B, the expressions of OPN in group C and D were significantly decreased (all P valus <0. 05). No significant difference was detected between group C and D. Conclusions The study shows that the expression of OPN significantly increased in DSS-induced murine colitis and decreased after treated with drugs. OPN-mediated immune response contributes to DSS-induced murine colitis.

Objective:To investigate the incidence of asthma and the characteristics of acute attacks in children aged 3-14 in different administrative areas of Wuxi, and to analyze the correlation of asthma with the outdoor environmental factors. Methods:A total of 10 175 children aged 3-14 were randomly selected from 5 different administrative regions in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province for childhood asthma epidemiological survey from January to December in 2017.Results:The complete questionnaires were collected from 8 318 children with a response rate of 81.70%.There were 6 734 valid questionnaires.Asthma occurred to 259 children, and the prevalence rate was 3.84%.The prevalence of asthma in male and female children was 4.89% (163 cases) and 2.82% (96 cases), respectively. The ratio of male patients to female patients was 1.70∶1.00, and the difference was significant ( χ2=19.72, P<0.01). Children were most prone to suffer from asthma attacks at the turn of seasons (87/259 cases, 33.59%). The frequency of asthma was the lowest from June to August (9/259 cases, 3.47%). Among 244 cases attacked by acute asthma, the prevailing time period of acute attacks was irregular in 88 patients (36.07%), bedtime in 64 cases (26.23%). In different regions of the city, the lowest prevalence rate of asthma was found in Binhu District (50/1 830 cases, 2.73%), the highest prevalence rate of asthma was found in Xinwu District (71/1 502 cases, 4.72%), the difference between the highest and lowest prevalence rates of asthma was significant ( χ2=13.19, P<0.05). In terms of the air quality in different admi-nistrative regions of Wuxi, the nitrogen dioxide (NO 2) concentration, the carbon monoxide (CO) concentration, PM 10 and PM 2.5 in Binhu District were lower than other 4 regions. In different seasons in Wuxi city, the sulfur dioxide(SO 2) concentration, the NO 2 concentration, the CO concentration, PM 10 and PM 2.5 from June to August were significantly lower than those in other months. The prevalence of asthma in children in different administrative districts of Wuxi was weakly positively correlated with the SO 2 concentration, the NO 2 concentration and PM 10 ( r=0.10, P<0.01; r=0.22, P<0.01; r=0.06, P<0.01, respectively). The prevalence of asthma was weakly negatively associated with the ozone(O 3) concentration ( r=-0.06, P<0.01). Acute asthma attacks were weakly positively correlated with the SO 2 concentration ( r=0.22, P<0.01), the NO 2 concentration ( r=0.28, P<0.01), the CO concentration ( r=0.23, P<0.01), PM 10 ( r=0.18, P<0.01) and PM 2.5 ( r=0.18, P<0.01), and weakly negatively correlated with the O 3 concentration ( r=-0.40, P<0.01). Conclusions:The prevalence of asthma in Wuxi is higher in boys than in girls, and the frequency of asthma attacks is related to the season. The SO 2, NO 2, CO, PM 10, PM 2.5 and O 3 concentration affect the prevalence and acute attacks of asthma.

This paper was aimed to study medication laws of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) towards rheumatoid arthritis (RA) based on modern medicine literatures. The China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data knowledge service platform and VIP Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals were searched from January 2000 to December 2016 for relevant literatures on TCM for treatment of RA. The results showed that the database was established and the data were analyzed with statistics method including frequency analysis and cluster analysis. Finally, a total of 292 articles, 214 kinds of herbs were included, with a total frequency of 5071 for herbs. The results of frequency analysis, showed that tonic drugs, medicine for eliminating wind and dampness, drug for invigorating blood circulation and eliminating stasis were the main medications, followed by heat-cleaning drug, relieving external syndrome drug, and dampness-draining drug. The most common tastes of high frequency were sweet, pungent and bitter. The most common natures were warm and mild. The related meridians included the liver meridian, spleen meridian and kidney meridian. It was concluded that the cluster analysis showed medicines in the core group were as following: Astragalus, Licorice, Chinese angelica, Monkshood, Cassia twig, Coix seed, Radix saposhnikoviae, Radix gentianae macrophyllae, Notopterygium, Caulis spatholobi, Rhizoma ligustici wallichii, Twotooth achyranthes root, and Radix clematidis. The common combinations of RA drugs were summarized by association analysis. The medication law of RA treatment is to enrich consumptive disease and support healthy energy, to tonify the liver and kidney, to dispel wind and eliminate dampness, to remove blood stasis and dredge collaterals.

Objective:To discuss the effects of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedure on hemodynamics in cirrhotic patients. Methods:A total of 23 cirrhotic patients for TIPS insertion were enrolled from January 2018 to October 2018. Serum N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), transthoracic echocardiography and non-invasive cardiac output measurement based on impedance cardiogram were carried out before and 24h, 1 month, 6 months after TIPS in order to observe cardiac function and hemodynamic changes after TIPS.Results:Significant increases in right atrial area [(17.2±4.0) cm 2 vs. (15.0±3.4) cm 2, P<0.05], right ventricular area [(15.1±3.8) cm 2 vs. (13.7±3.5) cm 2, P<0.05] and left ventricular volume [(97.4±21.5) ml vs. (91.1±22.7) ml, P<0.05] were observed 24 h after TIPS. These changes were accompanied with significant reduction in collapsible index of inferior vena cava [(20.7± 8.1)% vs. (28.6±11.3)%, P<0.01] and elevation in pulmonary arterial systolic pressure [(36.0±8.4) mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa) vs. (31.8±5.4) mmHg, P<0.01]. There also existed significantly elevated serum NT-proBNP [(551.2±325.1) ng/L vs. (124.2±94.4) ng/L, P<0.01], cardiac output [(5.82±0.96) L/min vs. (5.12±1.28) L/min, P<0.01], cardiac index [(3.47±0.64) L·min -1·m -2 vs. (3.05±0.78) L·min -1·m -2, P<0.01], early diastolic filling rate [(59.0±14.3)% vs. (54.5±11.0)%, P<0.05], and reduced systemic vascular resistance index (SVRi) [(1 798.4±357.3) dyne·s·cm -5·m -2 vs. (2 195.7±508.7) dyne·s·cm -5·m -2, P<0.01] 24 h after TIPS. At the end of 6-month follow-up, all these parameters, but not SVRi, returned towards baseline values. Moreover, peak early to late diastolic tissue velocity ratio at the level of lateral mitral annulus (E′/A′) was significantly higher at the end of 6-month follow-up than that at baseline (1.06±0.32 vs. 0.90±0.45, P<0.05). Neither the right ventricular fractional area changes nor the left ventricular ejection fractions during the follow-up period were different from those at baseline ( P>0.05). Conclusion:Cirrhotic patients who had no cardiovascular pathologies had adequate adaptation and good compensation ability to reach a new hemodynamic homeostasis for the increased volume load after TIPS insertion.

In this paper the adverse reactions of acupoint embedding and its treatment are summarized, including fever, infection, callosity, blood stasis, red swelling, numb swelling, pain, fester, ulcer, etc. It is consi-dered that adverse reactions are induced by the inappropriate operation, special constitution and embedding material. Thus we need to pay attention to standard manipulation, the contraindication, and cautious usage. Symptomatic treatment needs to be implemented timely once adverse reactions occur.
