Objective To analysis the victim's help-seeking behavior of domestic violence. Methods Using a multi-stage sampling strategy,306 victims of domestic violence were randomly selected and face-to-face interviewed. A self-designed help-seeking questionnaire of domestic violence was administered. Results 33.7%victims felt nowhere to seek help. The three leading helpers they seek were the other family member (34.6%),neighbor and friend( 17.0% ) and community office ( 12.5% ) ,and the community office had highest prevalence of effect (71. 1% ). The prevalence of seeking help from other family member and Women's Federation were highest in urban victims (P<0.01) ,and seeking help from community office was highest in rural victims (P<0.01). The three leading helpers were other family member (27.3%) ,community office ( 15.8% ) and neighbor and friend ( 10.9% ) by male victims, and other family member ( 38.0% ), neighbor and friend ( 20.0% ) and community office ( 10.8% ) by female victims. The prevalence of seeking help from neighbor and friend was higher in female than in male ( 20.0% vs 10.9%, x2 = 3. 980, P< 0.05 ). Adult victims seek help from other family member were less than children and the elderly (31.6% vs 42.0% and 46.9%, x2 =5.993, P<0.05),and the elderly seek help from community office were more than adults and children (28.1% vs 12. 1% and 4.0%, x2 =9.930, P<0.01 ). The victims with higher level of education were with higher prevalence of feeling nowhere to seek help (47.8%). Seeking help from other family member and community office were most in victims with lower level of education( 38.5% and 24.0% ,respectively) and were least in victims with higher level of education ( 17.4% and 0,respectively, P < 0.05, P < 0. 01 ). Conclusion Help-seeking behaviors of victims of domestic violence are varied by geographic settings, age, gender and education levels.

Objective To study the status of professional commitment and its effect on self-esteem of non-medical undergraduates in medical colleges. Methods Totally 410 non-medical under-graduates and 403 medical undergraduate were investigated by professional commitment of undergrad-uate scales and self-esteem questionnaire of undergraduates. T test,chi-square test,ANOVA,corre-lation analysis and multiple regression analysis were employed to do statical analysis, with P<0.05 be-ing statistical differences. Results Non-medical undergraduates’scores of professional commitment (85.11 ±11.60)and self-esteem (2.57 ±0.37)were lower than those (93.82 ±11.43)and (2.62 ± 0.35) of medical undergraduates. There were statistical differences in non-medical undergraduates’ professional commitment concerning the variables of professional consistency (t=5.657,P=0.000)and grades (F=8.528,P=0.000). Professional commitment of non-medical undergraduates was positively correlated with self-esteem. There was linear regression relationship between the variables of emotion-al commitment (P=0.005),normative commitment (P=0.006)and self-esteem. Conclusions Non-medical undergraduates' professional commitment and self-esteem levels are lower than those of medical undergraduates. The professional commitment could produce obvious effects on self-esteem.

Objective To investigate the effect of psychological abuse in childhood on the personality of undergraduates with depression as well as its possible mechanism, and thus provide scientific evidence for the intervention of depression in undergraduates. Methods Particinants were 733 undergraduates from a university in Henan Province. They were surveyed with Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression scale (CES-D), childhood experience of care and abuse questionnaire (CECA. Q) and Eysenck personality theory (EPQ). Results the correlation between maternal antipathy and introversion-extroversion of personality;psychological abuse in childhood had apparently positive correlation with the depression in undergraduates (r = 0. 257, r = 0. 304, r =0. 243, P< 0. 01) and that of childhood maternal neglect to psychoticism (β = 0.206, P< 0.01) were positive and significant. The standard regression coefficients of paternal neglect to introversion-extroversion (β= -0. 143, P<0. 01)were negative and significant . The scores of childhood paternal antipathy and maternal antipathy explained that childhood paternal antipathy had indirect effect via adulthood neuroticism on the depression in undergraduates, furthermore, the indirect effect demonstrated 59.8% of the total effect. Conclusion This study suggests that the personality of undergraduates with depression is affected directly by psychological abuse in childhood, and adulthood personality may mediate the relation between childhood psychological abuse and adulthood depression.

BACKGROUND: In the clinic, super-hard plaster is widely used for preparation of casts that can duplicate oral cavity situation, such as fixed denture and removable denture. The bending resistance of super-hard plaster can sufficiently resist the force to strip, which would avoid the fracture of tooth model. However, the symptom of tooth model fracture exists when hard material, such as polyether rubber, is used as impression material. OBJECTIVE: To compare the dimensional accuracy and bending resistance among four kinds of super-hard plaster: YCG, Dentona, Heraeus, and Huicheng. METHODS: Mental casts including three unit fixed bridge and cuboid (50 mm×10 mm×5 mm) were prepared and then poured with the above-mentioned four kinds of super-hard plaster. Then dimensional accuracy and bending resistance of the casts were measured through the use of universal tool microscope and universal testing machine. CONCLUSION AND RESULTS: The proximal-distal dimensional accuracy of YCG, Dentona, Heraeus, and Huicheng super-hard plaster casts was 15.043, 15.034, 15.037 and 15.040 mm, respectively, the buccolingual dimensional accuracy was 7.020, 7.015, 7.019, and 7.019 mm, respectively, the tooth long-axis dimensional accuracy was 8.022, 8.018, 8.019, and 8.02 mm, respectively. The bending resistance of the four super-hard plaster casts was 15.687, 13.000, 22.521, 18.675 MPa, respectively. There was no significant difference in dimensional accuracy (P > 0.05), but there was significant difference in bending resistance (P < 0.01), among these four super-hard plaster casts. The bending resistance of Heraeus super-hard plaster cast was significantly greater compared with the other 3 super-hard plaster casts (P < 0.01), and the bending resistance of Huicheng super-hard plaster cast was significantly greater than that of Dentona super-hard plaster cast (P < 0.01). These findings demonstrate that Heraeus super-hard plaster has the highest bending resistance, followed by Huicheng and YCG super-hard plaster casts, and lastly Dentona super-hard plaster cast. These findings suggest that super-hard plaster cast with greater bending resistance should be chosen as possible according to practical situation.

Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of immune regulating nutrition on severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Methods The clinical data of 80 patients with SAP who were admitted to the Union Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology from February 2008 to October 2009 were prospectively analyzed. The 80 patients were equally divided into conventional nutrition (CN) group and immune regulating nutrition (IRN) group. Patients in the CN group received CN support, while patients in the IRN group were supplemented with ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (ω-3 PUFA ) and glutamine at the basis of CN support.APACHE Ⅱ scores were evaluated at day 1, 4, 7, 10, 14 in the course of treatment. The differences in the incidence of pulmonary and abdominal infection, sepsis, and other clinical parameters including operation intervention, mortality, length of ICU and hospital stay between the two groups were compared. All data were analyzed using the t test and chi-square test. Results The APACHE Ⅱ scores of patients in the IRN group were 15.3 ± 1.8 and 9.0 ± 1.8 at day 4 and 7, which were significantly lower than 20.0 ± 2.7 and 13.3 ± 2.4 in the CN group, respectively (t = 3.3, 2. 8, P < 0.05). The APACHE Ⅱ scores of patients in the IRN group at day 10and 14 were also lower than those in the CN group, while there was no significant difference (t =0. 7, 0. 6, P>0.05). The incidences of pulmonary and abdominal infection and surgical intervention rate in the IRN group were 18% (7/40), 13% (5/40) and 5% (2/40), which were significantly lower than 38% (15/40), 33% (13/40)and 20% (8/40) in the CN group, respectively (χ2 =4.0, 4.6, 4.1, P<0.05). The incidence of sepsis in the IRN group was 5% (2/40), which was lower than 8% (3/40) of the CN group, while there was no significant difference between the two groups ( χ2 =0.0, P >0.05 ). The average lengths of ICU and hospital stay in the IRN group were (5.4 ± 1.6 ) days and ( 38.6 ± 9.3 ) days, which were significantly lower than ( 7.8 ± 2.8 ) days and (43.1 ± 1 1.6) days in the CN group, respectively ( t = 2. 7, 3. 7, P < 0.05 ). The morality was 5% (2/40) in the IRN group and 8% (3/40) in the CN group, with no significant difference between the two groups (χ2 =0.0,P >0.05). Conclusion CN support supplemented with ω-3 PUFA and glutamine can adjust the inflammation reaction of SAP and sustain the normal immune function, which is helpful in decreasing the incidence of severe infection.
