The human atrial muscle cells were investigated by ultrastructural CMPase cytochemistry and atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) immunocytochemistry. The primary lysosomes and ANF were labelled by these techniques, respectively. ANF was localized in the atrial specific granules, these granules were similar in size and 0.20? 0.051?m in diameter, distributed over the entire cytoplasm, preferentially being located in the subsarcolemmal and perinuclear region and forming clusters. Primary lysosomes were various in size, 0.30?0.191?m in diameter, significantly larger than atrial specific granules (P

OBJECTIVETo explore the effects of early intervention of acupuncture on urinary function reconstruction of neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury, so as to find the optimal treatment timing of acupuncture.
METHODSFifty-three patients of neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury were randomly divided into a prior-to-catheter group (25 cases) and a posterior-to-catheter group (28 cases). For the prior-to-catheter group, one week before the removal of catheter, acupoints on the abdomen and back such as Guanyuan (CV 4), Zhongji (CV 3), Baliao (Shangliao (BL 31), Ciliao (BL 32), Zhongliao (BL 33), Xialiao (BL 34), Jiaji (EX-B 2) and acupoints at distal end such as Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) were selected; after the catheter removal, simple method. of water column was used to measure bladder capacity pressure to classify the type of bladder, and then different acupuncture manipulations were given; intermittent catheterization was performed if condition was allowed. The posterior-to-catheter group applied identical treatment after removal of catheter as the prior-to-catheter group. The treatment was given 5 times per week; after one-month treatment, five aspects including the time of first effective urination, time of establishing reflex urination, average residual volume of urine, time of residual urine less than 100 mL and quality of life (QOL) were evaluated.
RESULTSAfter treatment, the time of first effective urination, time of establishing reflex urination, average residual volume of urine and time of residual urineless than 100 mL in the prior-to-catheter group were all superior to those in the posterior-to-catheter group (all P<0. 05) ; the score of QOL was improved in two groups after treatment (both P<0. 01), but the difference between two groups was not statistically significant (P>0. 05); each index of urination function was not significant among patients with different injured segments of spinal cord (all P>0. 05).
CONCLUSIONThe early intervention of acupuncture (prior to catheter) has obvious improving function on establishing balanced bladder in patients with neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury, which is superior to acupuncture intervention after removal of catheter, however, the effects of different injured segments on establishing balanced bladder are not different.

Objective To evaluate the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of primary duodenal carcinoma. Methods The clinical data of 41 cases with primary duodenal carcinoma admired during 2000-2007 were analyzed retrospectively. Results Clinical manifestation was not specific, including abdominal pain, abdominal distention, jaundice, bowel obstruction or bleeding. The correct diagnosis rate of endoscopy, duodenography, ultrasound and CT was 86%, 90%, 20% and 33% respectively. 23 cases underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy, 6 cases received segmental duodenectomy, 9 cases received bypass operation and 3 cases underwent biopsy. Overall postoperative 5-year survival rate was 18%. Univariate analysis revealed that the operation types, tumor histology, depth of tumor invatian, lymphatic invasion correlated with prognosis. Multivariate analysis showed that only the operative types, depth of tumor invasion and lymphatic invasion were independent prognostic factors. Conclusions Duodenography and endoscopy are major methods for diagnosis of primary duodenal carcinoma. Pancreaticoduodenectomy is the choice of therapy for primary duodenal carcinoma.

Background:Cold storage and ischemia-reperfusion injury of liver grafts are critical for the prognosis of patients undergoing liver transplantation. Establishing a stable cold storage and reperfusion animal model is a fundamental measure for related studies. Aims:To establish a modified isolated perfused rat liver model for comprehensive assessment of liver grafts in studies on preservation of liver grafts before transplantation. Methods:Twelve Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated into two groups. Livers of rats in control group were retrieved and perfused immediately for 90 minutes without preservation. In experimental group, liver grafts underwent a 30-minute warm ischemia followed by 24-hour cold storage before ex vivo perfusion. The perfusate was collected dynamically for monitoring the levels of transaminases, electrolytes and pH value;the portal vein pressure of liver grafts was measured by pressure sensor, and the hepatic hydrogen peroxide (HPO)level was assessed by microprobe for free radicals. The bile production was recorded after the ex vivo perfusion;meanwhile, the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA)and superoxide dismutase (Cu/ Zn SOD),the histopathological changes and apoptosis of hepatocytes of liver grafts were examined. Results:Compared with the control group, the levels of AST and ALT,the portal vein pressure and the HPO level of liver grafts in experimental group were obviously increased throughout the perfusion. Furthermore, the bile production and level of Cu/ Zn SOD of liver grafts in experimental group were significantly decreased. The histopathological injury and hepatocytes apoptosis of liver grafts were milder in control group. Conclusions:The liver function and antioxidant effect were reduced in warm ischemic and cold preserved liver grafts. The modified isolated perfused rat liver model established in this study is useful for monitoring and evaluation of the cold storage and reperfusion injury in liver grafts.

Background Oscillatory potentials (OPs) of scotopic electroretinogram (ERG) plays an important role in the evaluation of visual function in multiple retinal diseases. However, the origin of OPs is uncompletely clear. It is essential to analyze the time domain and frequency domain components for the further study of OPs.Objective The present study was to investigate the change characteristics of frequency spectrum of scotopic OPs with age and stimulating intensity. Methods RCS-rdy+-p+rats with the ages of 21,25,32,35,37,46,60,90 days were selected iu this study and 3 rats for each.Scotopic flash ERG were recorded from all the rats with RETI-scan system.Gold-foil ring cornea recording electrode was used as the recording electrode and the steel needle electrode was used as the reference and earth electrode during the record. The intensity of stimulating light was set at-20,-10,-5,0 and 5 dB respectively.Data were output into the computer and processed by the software Matlab7.0.Results The principle frequency corresponding to maximum amplitude component was 80-120 Hz in the various ages of rats under the different stimulating conditions above. With the increase of the intensity of stimulating light, high frequency component (200-250 Hz) began to appear and the amplitudes showed a gradually raise upon the intensity of light. The major component was subdivided into two peaks at 0 dB stimulation.Further, the age affected the major frequency peak with the maximum value at 60-day-old rats and the minimum value at 25-day-old rats. Also, the pass-band width of main amplitude appeared to be maximal at 60-day-old rats and minimal at 25-day-old rats. Conclusions OPs in Rcsrdy+-p+ rats are influenced by stimulating intensity and agc.Stimulating intensity affects the amplitude and age lead to the change of distribution of primary frequency of OPs.It is possible to know the influences of the degeneration of rods and be helpful to diagnosis this kind of disease.

BACKGROUND:There is no literature about the treatment according to the mechanism of cervical spine injury classification, especial y for the treatment of extension type cervical fracture/dislocation with merger cases of posterior composite structure damage, whether simple anterior approach can meet the needs of the treatment has no detailed elaboration. This article may analyze from the aspect of cervical spine injury mechanism. OBJECTIVE:To observe the short-term effect of anterior cervical Cage-assisted fusion combined with locking titanium plate internal fixation for the treatment of extension type cervical fracture. METHODS:A retrospective analysis was performed in 15 extension type cervical spine fracture dislocation patients treated with decompression anterior cervical intervertebral disc resection plus bone graft with cage-fusion locking titanium plate internal fixation from June 2006 to March 2011 in the Department of Orthopedics, Xianning Central Hospital, including 10 cases of single segment injury and treatment, and five cases of multiple segment injury and treatment. Japanese Orthopaedic Association score and the neck disability index were compared before and after treatment;the cervical flexion and height were measured according to the antersposterior X-ray film taken before fixation, 1 week after fixation and final fol ow-up.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The patients were fol owed-up for 8-37 months. One case had Cage mild sinking and shift, and there was no internal fixation breakage or loosening in al the patients. Transient pharyngeal discomfort was observed in 11 patients. Compared with the preoperation, the Japanese Orthopaedic Association score, neck dysfunction index, fusion segment cervical flexion and fusion segment intervertebral disc height were significantly improved at 1 week after fixation and final fol ow-up (P<0.05). There were no significant differences between 1 week after fixation and final fol ow-up (P>0.05). The short-term effect of decompression anterior cervical intervertebral disc resection plus bone graft with cage-fusion locking titanium plate internal fixation for the treatment of extension-type cervical fracture is good.
