Chinese Journal of Nervous and Mental Diseases 2010;36(3):165-167
Objective To evaluate the impact of multiple lacunar infarction (MLI) on the outcomes of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Methods MCI patients were selected in outpatients and hospitalized patients using a common international standard MCI screen. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer tomography (CT) were used to determine the presence of MLI. MCI patients were followed up for 6~24 months and their cognitive status and the impact of MLI on MCI were evaluated using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Results One hundred twenty patients were diagnosed as having MCI based on clinical evaluation and neuropsychological assessment. Among them, 43 (35.8%) patients had MLI and the rest 77 (64.1%) patients did not have. Twenty-seven MCI patients with MLI (62.8%) developed dementia, while 15 MCI patients without MLI (19.4%) developed dementia during 6~24 months follow-up. Kaplan-Meier analysis indicated that the incidence of dementia was significantly higher in patients with MLI than in patients without MLI did (P<0.05). Conclusions MCI patients with MLI are more prone to dementia. These results suggest that early interventions aimed at controlling the modifiable risks are warranted for dementia prevention in MCI patients with MLI.

Objective:To investigate the clinic-cytology and histopathology of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in breasts. Mothods:Twelve cases of NHL of the breast were studied by fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAC), histopathology and immunohistochemistry, and whose clinical data were analysed at the same time. Results:In 12 cases of NHL, 3 cases were T-cell NHL and 9 cases were B-cell NHL. Cytologically, the T-cell NHL cells were mostly arranging in diffuse patterns. The tumor cells were oval and pleomorphism. Some of them had distorted nucleus and thin nuclear envelope. The nucleus showed irregular course chromatin and visible nueleoic. Histopathologically, some of the tumor cells distributed around the blood vessels, and there was an obvious phenomenon of “blood-vessel-closing”. B-cell lymphoma cells were arranginy in diffuse pattern, and showed round and ellipse in shape with a clot and course granular chromatin and visible nueleoic and karyoknesis. Lymphoepithelia lesions were seen. Immunohistochemistry showed that CD3, CD43, and CD 45RO in T-cells NHL were positive.CD20, CD74 and CD79a in B-cells NHL were negative. CK, EMA, ER and PR in NHL were all negative. Conclusion:NHL of breast is extremely rare, and its definite diagnosis depends on various examination methods.

OBJECTIVE:
Discussing the use of endoscopy in the operation of microvascular decompression of cranial nerves to treat trigeminal neuralgia (TN), hemifacial spasm (HFS), glosspharyngeal neuralgia (GN) and some tumors of the cerebellopontine angle (CPA).
METHOD:
Since 2006, 973 cases (including 420 cases of TN, 487 cases of HFS, 66 cases of GN) had received the operation of nervous decompression by approach of postauricular suboccipital to the CPA. All cases who used the endoscopy and the material was described in detail.
RESULT:
In 420 TN patients, 390 (92.9%) were found responsible blood vessels. Two (0.5%) were found no responsible blood vessels but arachnoid adhesion, 28 were found CPA tumor secondary trigeminal neuralgia. In 487 HFS patients, 486 were found responsible blood vessels. Between the vascular and trigeminal nerve, teflon was used to decompress and isolate the facial nerve. In 66 GN, the glossopharyngeal nerve were cut and vagus nerve were decompressed. The short-term cure rate was 100%. Cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea occurred in 3 cases, 1 case of cerebellar infarction, 2 patients of cerebellar hemorrhage, 2 cases of pneumatosis. All complications were cured at last. There were no deaths. All cases were followed-up for 1 to 5 years. Four cases of TN and 4 cases of HFS recurrent, and none of GN recurrence.
CONCLUSION
The microneurosurgery of nervous decompression endoscopy technology for the treatment of TN, HFS, GN and some tumors of the CPA is an ideally functional and etiotropic operation. It is helpful to detect the responsible blood vessel and to protect the brain tissue and nerve function with endoscope, which can improve the success rate of the operation and avoid the complications. This technology has clinical application value.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2015;(24):3832-3838
BACKGROUND:Poststroke depression is one of the most common psychological behavior disorders after stroke and its mechanism remains unclear. Studies have suggested that microRNAs (miRNAs) involved in neurogenesis and synaptogenesis may play an important role in psychology diseases. OBJECTIVE:To observe the expression of miR-137 in the blood and brain of poststroke depression rats and its effect on the behaviors of rats. METHODS:Thirty-six rats were equal y divided into six groups:control, model, agomir-137, agomir-NC, agomir-137+Grin2A and agomir-137+vector groups. Control group had no treatment. Poststroke depression models were established by ligation of middle cerebral artery and chronic mild stimulation in the latter four groups fol owed by receiving an injection of nothing, agomir-137, agomir-NC, LV-CMV-Grin2A or control plasmids into the left lateral ventricle, respectively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:We found significantly lower miR-137 levels in the brain and peripheral blood of post-stroke depression rats compared with normal rats. Vertical scores and horizontal scores on the behavior test were significantly higher in the agomir-137 group than the agomir-NC and model groups at 3 weeks after cerebral ischemia;while, sucrose consumption percentage was also higher in the agomir-137 group at the end of 2 weeks after cerebral ischemia. Luciferase assays showed miR-137 bound to the 3’ UTR of Grin2A, regulating Grin2A expression in a neuronal cel line. Grin2A gene overexpression in the brain of post-stroke depression rats noticeably suppressed the inhibitory effect of miR-137 on post-stroke depression. Overal , these findings show that miR-137 suppresses Grin2A protein expression through binding to Grin2A mRNA, thereby exerting an inhibitory effect on post-stroke depression and offering a new therapeutic target for poststroke depression.

BACKGROUND: With the development of 3D printing technology, organ and tissue construction can be achieved by constructing a three-dimensional scaffold that is conducive to cell growth. OBJECTIVE: To solve the scaffold over-accumulation during 3D printing.METHODS: Fluent, a finite element analysis software developed by ANSYS Company in the United States, was used to analyze the extrusion process of print heads and to obtain suitable viscosity and extrusion pressure of materials for the 3D printing of cellulose gel composites. We then compared simulation results with experimental results. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The error between simulation results and experimental results was less than 5%. The simulated values at a kinetic viscosity of 45 and a pressure of 0.10-0.12 MPa solved the phenomenon of over-accumulation of cellulose gel composites during the 3D printing process, ensuring enough space for the 3D printed scaffold.

Objective To estimate the association between the risk of high birth weight(HBW) and maternal environmental and behavioral factors exposure during pregnancy in rural areas. Methods Data were collected from the surveillance system of birth population and adverse pregnancy outcome in Pingding County, Shanxi Province during 2007 and 2012, where we followed up 204 controls with normal birth weight, 125 cases with HBW≥4 200 g and 171 cases with HBW 4 000-4 200 g. Case control study was performed to explore the potential risk factors of HBW. Results The total number of births was 18 749, including 1 177 cases of high birth weight, with an incidence rate of 6.28% between 2007 and 2012. Concerning the case control study on HBW<4 200 g, after adjusting parental reproductive age and parity, the risk of HBW was 3.10(95% CI:1.67-5.76)times higher among women with gestational weeks ≥42 than that of women with gestational weeks < 42. The risk of HBW in boys was 2.30(95% CI:1.46-3.63)times higher than that in girls. No significant association was observed between maternal BMI before pregnancy and the risk of HBW;Regarding the case control study on HBW≥4200 g, after adjusting maternal reproductive age and parity, the risk of HBW was 3.01(95% CI:1.49-6.08) times higher among women with gestational weeks≥42 than that of those with gestational weeks <42. The risk of HBW was 1.91(95% CI:1.15-3.16)times higher among women with pre-pregnancy BMI≥24 than that of those with pre-pregnancy BMI< 24. The risk of HBW was 2.59(95% CI:1.06-6.32)times higher in women who ate soybean products ≥4 times a week than that of those who ate soybean products less than once a week. Conclusion It would be of public health significance to reduce the risk of high birth weight, which can be reduced by managing pre-pregnancy BMI, diet during pregnancy and controlling gestational week.
