?AlM: To evaluate the expressions and significances of endoplasmic reticulum stress related protein ( BlP ) , hypoxia-inducible factor-1α ( HlF-1α) and vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) in the retina of diabetic rats.
?METHODS:Seventy-two male Sprague-Dawley ( SD) rats were chosen and divided randomly into 6 groups:normal control 2mo (C2m, n = 12), diabetes mellitus 2mo (D2m, n=12), normal control 4mo (C4m, n=12), diabetes mellitus 4mo (D4m, n = 12), normal control 6mo (C6m, n=12) and diabetes mellitus 6mo (D6m, n=12 ) . The diabetes mellitus mouse were induced by intraperitoneal injection of 0. 1mol/L streptozotocin (STZ, 65mg/kg). The expression of BlP, HlF-1α and VEGF in the retina were detected by enzyme- linked immuno sorbent assay. The location of BlP, HlF-1α and VEGF in epiretinal membranes were investigated by immunohistochemistry staining.
?RESULTS: BlP were significantly increase than control groups in all DM groups with the course of diabetes ( P<0. 01). HlF-1α were detected higher than control groups in all DM groups (P< 0. 05), but there was no statistical significance among treatment groups. VEGF in D4m and D6m groups were higher than control groups (P<0. 05), and there was statistical significance between D4m and D6m groups. BlP can be detected in control groups a little, mainly in the inner limiting membrane and ganglion cell layers. HlF - 1α cannot be detected in control groups, meanwhile it can be detected in all layers in DM. VEGF can be detected in control groups a little, it mainly be detected in inner nuclear layer, outer nuclear layer, around retinal vessel and ganglion cell layers in DM groups.
?CONCLUSlON:The expressions of BlP, HlF-1α and VEGF increase in the retina of diabetic rats than control groups with progressive of diabetes mellitus, both endoplasmic reticulum stress and HlF-1α signal path play important role in the progress of diabetic retinopathy.

Objective To define whether correlation exists between the enlargement of lateral ventricles and motor development delay. Methods Motor development was assessed with Peabody Developmental Motor Scale (PDMS) in 28 children with cerebral palsy. Correlation between computerized tomography (CT) findings of enlargement of lateral ventricles (ventricle index, body index, width index and frontal horn index) and motor quotients of PDMS(GMQ,FMQ and TMQ) was analyzed. Results Width index was correlated with all three motor quotients (GMQ,FMQ and TMQ)( P

Objective To evaluate the feasibility, advantages and pitfalls of trans-gastric, trans-colonic and trans-umbilical peritoneoscopy, and to compare pure natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) with hybrid NOTES. Methods Two female pigs of 30kg were used in the study, one for pure NOTES, the other for hybrid NOTES. Each pig received trans-gastric, trans-colonic and trans-umbilical peritoneoscopy, respectively, followed by postmortem examination for organic lesions and closure of incisions. The two approaches were compared in terms of intra-operative situation and manipulation. Results The vital signs of the pigs were stable during the procedures, with no peri-incision organic lesions. There were blind areas in trans-gastric as well as in trans-colonic peritoneoscopy. It was easier to close the colonic incision than the gastric one. The situation in trans-umbilical peritoneoscopy was similar to laparoscopic surgery. Hybrid NOTES seemed superior to pure NOTES with regard to safe access, stable pneumo-peritoneum and adequate visualization. Conclusion Three routes for NOTES appear to be reasonable and feasible. Hybrid NOTES is more effective and safer than pure NOTES with current instruments.

Objective To study the combined toxic effects of fluoride and aluminum on the liver of mouse and the probable mechanism. Methods Kunming mice were randomly divided into nine groups and treated with fluoride and aluminum through drinking water:control(tap water)group, 50 mg/L fluoride group, 150 mg/L fluoride group, 200 mg/L aluminum group, 600 mg/L aluminum group, 50 mg/L fluoride+200 mg/L aluminum group, 50 mg/L fluoride+600 mg/L aluminum group, 150 mg/L fluoride+200 mg/L aluminum group, 150 mg/L fluoride+600 mg/L aluminum group. After 24 weeks of treatment, the activity of ALT, AST, the content of TBIL, DBIL, IBIL, ALB, Ca, P and Mg in the serum was determined. Results Different doses of single fluoride or fluoride+aluminum led to significant different changes in the liver function(single fluoride:F=2.61, P0.05). Compared with the control group, the Ca level in the serum decreased in the exposed groups except 150 mg/L fluoride+600 mg/L aluminum group(P0.05). Conclusion The combination of fluoride and aluminum at certain levels has a toxic effect on the liver, but the combination of fluoride and aluminum at high doses shows an antagonistic effect.
