China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy 2005;0(01):-
By reviewing the research on patient reported outcomes (PRO) and the understanding of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine in coronary heart disease, the author found that the evaluation scale of PRO in coronary heart disease in traditional Chinese medicine should be guided by the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, including the theories of ‘heart-oriented, five internal organs correlation, internal injuries by seven emotions, unity of body and mind, correspondence between human and nature’ and other modern theoretical framework of PRO scale. It was believed that the physical, psychological, independence and social sphere constructed a special PRO efficacy scale of traditional Chinese medicine in coronary heart disease. The field of physiology on the scale was guided by ‘heart-based, five internal organs correlation' theory as the main line, and the scale was divided into various aspects in order to reflect all aspects of uncomfortable self-feeling of patients. Finally, 19 sides such as chest pain, chest tightness, heart palpitations, flank pain, insomnia, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, frequent urination at night, anorexia, weakness, spontaneous perspiration, shortness of breath, individual ability, daily life, positive feelings, negative feelings, personal relations and social support needed, level of social services, social intercourse and economy, healthy and medical care formed the theoretical structure model of the scale, which established the theory foundatio for the further development of PRO scale.

Objective To study the quantitative expression and the correlation of the NF-κB p65,COX-2 and MMP-9 Drotein in the hypopharyngeal carcinoma tissue. Methods FCM method was performed to detect the quantitative expression of the NF-κB p65,COX-2 and MMP-9 protein in 48 cases of hypopharyngeal carcinoma fresh sample and 48 cases of para-carcinoma tissue.Fluorescence Index wasdeftned as the quantitative expression index of the three proteins. Results The quantitative expression of the NF-κB p65,COX-2 and MMP-9 in hypopharyngeal carcinoma tissues(1.16,1.32 and 1.26) was remarkably higher than in para-carcinoma(1.03,1.04 and 1.04).The quantitative expression of three proteins in metastasis group was obviously higher than in non-metastasis group. The expression of NF-κB p65 and COX-2 protein in hypopharvngeal carcinoma tissues was positively related (P<0.05). Conclusion The high expression of NF-κB p65 and COX-2 is closely related in hypopharyngeal carcinoma tissues.NF-κB p65 might improve the expression of COX-2.

Sperm ultrastructural abnormalities are often associated with sperm motility, the integrity of genetic material, and the fertilization potential. The investigation of sperm ultrastructural abnormalities is based on the evolution of microscopy techniques. In his paper, we review the improvement of the microscopy techniques and the ultrastructure of several specific morphological defects and he apoptotic spermatogenic cells in order to expound the significance of sperm ultrastructural observation in clinical practice. We deem it necessary to analyze the sperm ultrastructure before exploring the pathology and adopting assisted reproductive technology for some special patients with teratozoospermia.

Journal of Practical Radiology 2001;0(09):-
Objective To summary MRI findings and its diagnostic value of Balo's concentric sclerosis .Methods Brain MRI images of 4 cases with Balo's concentric sclerosis were studied with review of the literature in 13 cases. Results MRI showed multiple ring-like lesions within brains in 16 patients and single lesion only in 1.The deep white matters of cerebrum were involved in all patients. The cerebellum and brain stem were invaded in 2 and 4 respectively. Typical concentric sclerosis lesions demonstrated alternate middle and low signal rings on T1WI, middle and high on T2WI. The ring-like lesions were best seen on T1WI. The middle signal rings were enhanced on post-contrast images. The typical multiple sclerosis lesions were seen in 7 patients. Conclusion Balo's concentric sclerosis has characteristic findings on MRI.MRI is a very reliable diagnostic methed for this disease.

AIM: To establish a method for the quality standard of Chanfukang Granules (Radix Astragali, Herba Leonuri, Fructus Aurantii, Herba Agrimoniae, Radix Rehmanniae, etc.). METHODS: TLC was used for identification of Herba Leonuri, Fructus Aurantii, Herba Agrimoniae, Radix Rehmanniae. The content of astragaloside Ⅳ was determined by HPLC-ELSD. RESULTS: The TLC identification was highly specific and the spots clear and concentrated. The linear range of astragaloside Ⅳ was 0.336-2.016 ?g, r=0.999 4. The average recovery was 97.13% and RSD was 1.3%. CONCLUSION: The method is simple and accurate. It can be used for quality control of Chanfukang Granules.

Objective To investigate the effects of IL-13 on fibrosis in hepatic stellate cells and its molecular mechanism .Methods The effects of IL-13 on the proliferation of hepatic stellate cell line LX-2 were measured by MTT assay .The transcription level of collagen typeⅠ( COLⅠ) in LX-2 cells was detec-ted by RT-PCR.The secretion of COLⅠin LX-2 cells was measured by ELISA assay and hydroxyproline as-say.Western blot assay was used to analyze the effects of IL-13 on the phosphorylation of signal transducer and activator of transcription(STAT6).Results Compared with control group, IL-13 (10 ng/ml, 20 ng/ml and 50 ng/ml ) significantly stimulated the proliferation of LX-2 cells in a dose-dependent manner ( P<0.05).The expression of collagen typeⅠin LX-2 cells at mRNA and protein levels were significantly up-regulated by IL-13 at a concentration of 50 ng/ml (P<0.05), but not affected by IL-13 at low concentra-tions (5 ng/ml, 10 ng/ml, and 20 ng/ml) (P>0.05).The expression of phosphorylated STAT6 protein in LX-2 cells was significantly enhanced upon the stimulation with 50 ng/ml of IL-13 ( P<0.05 ) for60 min or 120 min.C onclusion IL-13 promoted the proliferation of human hepatic stellate cells and up-regulated the expression of COLⅠat mRNA and protein levels .IL-13 might promote the fibrosis in human hepatic stellate cells through activating STAT 6 phosphorylation .
