1.Strategy of the diagnosis and treatment for epistaxis and guideline for clinical application of MasterPillar.
Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2023;37(7):519-523
Epistaxis is a common otorhinolaryngological emergency with complex etiological factors and varied clinical manifestations. The key to epistaxis treatment is accurate diagnosis and adequate hemostasis. Electrocoagulation is a reliable, safe and effective treatment for epistaxis. However, there are still several deficiencies in application of the commonly used electrocoagulation surgical products. This paper introduces a new type of radiofrequency head incorporating the dynamic circulatory functions of drip, irrigation, hemostasis and aspiration. We aim to achieve noninvasive, effective and accurate hemostasis in the treatment of epistaxis or nasal sinus surgery.

Objective To explore the effects of curdione on cognitive function and expression of inflammatory factors in the hippocampus after partial hepatectomy in aged mice. Methods The animals were divided into control group, sham group, operation group, and high-, medium-and low-dose curdione groups. The model of partial hepatectomy in aged mice was established according to the method reported in literature. The levels of SOD, MDA, CAT and GSH-Px in the hippocampus were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), while the expressions of NF-κB, IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α were measured by Western blot. Results The escape latency was significantly increased (P<0.01), and the number of platform-site crossovers was significantly decreased in operation group (P<0.05).Compared with those in operation group, curdione significantly decreased escape latency and increased platform-site crossovers (P<0.05, P<0.05).The levels of SOD, CAT and GSH-Px in the hippocampus were significantly decreased (P<0.05) and the content of MDA was significantly increased after partial hepatectomy (P<0.01), and these were reversed by curdione (P<0.05, P<0.05, respectively). The expressions of NF-κB, IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α protein were significantly inhibited by curdione (P<0.05).Conclusion Curdione can significantly improve cognitive dysfunction after partial hepatectomy in aged mice and the mechanism may be related to its inhibition of oxidative stress, inhibition of NF-κB activation and reduction of inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α in the hippocampus.
5. Involvement of Na+, K+-ATPase in hypoxia-induced increase of cytosolic Ca2+ in rat cortical neurons
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;28(1):44-47
Objective: To investigate the effect of Na+, K+ -ATPase on the increase of cytosolic Ca2+ level induced by hypoxia in rat cortical neurons. Methods: Using confocal laser scanning microscope and video based motion edge detection system, we measured the intracellular Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i) and Na+ concentration ([Na+]i) in cortical neurons exposed to hypoxia for different time periods and at presence of different concentrations of dihydroouabain (DHO, an inhibitor of Na+, K+-ATPase). We also observed the effect of Na+, K+-ATPase on the increase of cytosolic Ca2+ level induced by hypoxia in rat cortical neurons. Results: DHO (10-9-10-3 mol/L) dose-dependently and hypoxia(4-20 min) time-dependently increased the levels of [Ca2+]i and [Na+]i in cultured cortical neurons. [Ca2+]i and [Na+]i increased significantly 4 min after cortical neurons were exposed to hypoxia, and addition of DHO (10-3 mol/L) further increased their concentrations. While 15 min after hypoxia exposure, different concentrations of DHO did not further increase [Ca2]i and [Na+]i. We also found that hypoxia exposure did not enhance DHO pretreatment-induced [Ca2+]i increase. Conclusion: Inhibition of Na+, K+ -ATPase activity is one of the mechanisms responsible for hypoxia-induced elevation of [Ca2+]i in cortical neurons.
6.Mechanisms and Performance of Voice Disorders in Aphasia (review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2011;17(2):148-150
This paper discussed the performance and cerebral localization of tone error occurred in patients with aphasia. The definition and characteristics of tone and aphasia were introduced briefly, while focusing on the brain lateralization of the tone. Tone is a language signal, but also has characteristics of melodic acoustic. The dual nature affects the cognitive process of tone languages. Therefore studies at home and abroad about tone showed that the conclusion of advantage of lateralization was inconsistent. In this paper, by summarizing the advantage of lateralization of listening perception with different languages, and generalizing the brain damage localization in aphasia patients with voice disorders, the dominant side of the tone in the brain was discussed. This paper also summarized and discussed the characteristics of voice disorder in aphasia.
7.Rare giant salivary gland pleomorphic adenoma on the neck.
Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2013;27(23):1332-1333
The patient has found his neck mass for more than 30 years, and the neck mass has slowly growed into giant tumor. Five days ago, the neck giant mass suddenly burst, hemorrhage and overflow liquid. The giant mass with irregular in shape, surface uneven, skin highly tension and superficial venous engorgement, was seen in left lateral neck. CT scan demonstrates a mixture of solid, cystic and lobulated mass shadow within subcutaneous fat spaces of left lateral neck. Postoperative pathological examination proved that it is salivary gland pleomorphic adenoma.
