Safety analysis suggested that no significant differences were found in symptoms and frequency of side effects between the two groups. Conclusion Bupropion hydrochloride tablet is an effective and safe antidepressant. It has similar effect and safety compared with fluoxetine in the treatment of depression.

AIMTo synthesize novel derivatives of hydroxylbenzenedisulfonanilide with high insecticidal activity against the Fasciola hepatica.
METHODSo-(m-, p-) Chlorphenol were used to synthesize the title compounds by sulphonation and nucleiphilic-substitution reaction. The uncoupling activity (insecticidal activity) of these compounds were tested by determining the influence on mitochondrial respiration control ratio (RCR) and the variation of inorganic phosphate in oxidative phosphorylation (delta Pi).
RESULTSCompounds 1-14 are new compounds. The structures of the compounds were determined by IR, HNMR and elemental analysis. Most new compounds have relatively high uncoupling activities, especially compounds 3, 5, 6 and 9.
CONCLUSIONCompounds 3, 5, 6 and 9 will become novel fasciolicides and are worth further studying.

Objective To estimate the value of applying left heart bypass technique in esophageal carcinoma resection and gastroesophageal reconstruction. Methods The operation was performed under lef t he art bypass. Results Applying left heart bypass during esophagea l carcinoma resection and gastroesophageal reconstruction increased the probabil ity of the resection. The patient lived better and without operative complicatio n. Conclusion In case of esophageal carcinoma with invasion of descending aorta by carcinoma, left heart bypass may increase the probability of the resection and enhance the safety of surgical treatment.

Objective To investigate the effect ofplatelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and conditional medium of U87 glioma cells on the migration ability of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) to understand the possible role of PDGF in the directional migration of hMSCs toward gliomas. Methods hMSCs were isolated from the whole bone marrow by adherent culture, and the expression of PDGF receptor (PDGFR-α, β) in the cells was examined by RT-PCR. In vitro migration assay was performed using transwell inserts to observe the effect of PDGF (0, 5, 50, and 125 ng/mL) and the conditional medium on the directional migration ability ofhMSCs. The changes in the migration ability of hMSCs in response to addition of anti-PDGF antibody in the conditional medium were investigated. Results RT-PCR detected the expression of PDGFR- αand PDGFR-β mRNA in the isolated hMSCs. In the cell migration assay, both PDGF and the conditional medium induced directional migration of hMSCs (P<0.05), which was significantly suppressed by anti-PDGF antibody P<0.05). Conclusion With chemokine-like activities, PDGF concentration-dependently enhances the directional migration of hMSCs toward gliomas in vitro.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on the neurobehavioral function of coke oven workers.
METHODS200 healthy adult male coke oven workers were selected from a coke plant of a state-owned steel enterprise in Taiyuan City. 88 controls occupationally unexposed to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were selected from the same enterprise. All the subjects participated in this investigation voluntarily in their consent. Concentration of B(a)P in the working environment was monitored by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Urine samples were sampled immediately after working shifts. The level of urinary 1-hydroxypyrene was determined by HPLC. General information of workers correlated with the investigation was collected in a questionnaire according to the same criteria by well-trained investigators. Neurobehavioral core test battery (NCTB) recommended WHO was performed on coke oven workers and controls to test the neurobehavioral changes and the mood state.
RESULTSthe concentration of B(a)P at oven bottom, oven side and oven top were 0.0195 microg/m3, 0.186 microg/m3 and 1.624 microg/m3 respectively, that at oven side and oven top being higher than the one stipulated by the occupational hygiene criterion. Urinary 1-hydroxypyrene was significantly different between the exposure group (3.42 +/- 0.98 micromol/mol creatinine) and control group (2.75 +/- 1.09 micromol/mol creatinine). No significant differences were found between exposure group and control group of age, working years, smoking, drinking and unhealthy food consumption; however, compared to the controls, the scores of total digital span, the forward digital span, and right dotting in the coke oven workers were lower, but that of total dotting was higher, with a statistical significance. According to urinary 1-hydroxypyrene concentration, all the subjects were divided into three groups. (<3.10 micromol/mol creatinine, 3.10 micromol/mol creatinine, >3.87 micromol/mol creatinine). Significant differences of the total digital span, the forward digital span, backward digital span, digit symbol and Benton visual retentions existed in different urinary 1-hydroxypyrene concentration groups and showed a dose-response tendency. Results of multiple stepwise regression analysis and correlation analysis showed that the level of urinary 1-hydroxypyrene affected memory and perception of coke oven workers and negative correlations between the level of urinary 1-hydroxypyrene and changes in neurobehavioral function were found.
CONCLUSIONPAHs mainly causes decrease of memory and perception in coke oven workers.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of Tiaomaiyin injection on the experimental arrhythmia for analyzing its underlying mechanism in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
METHODExperimental animals anesthetized with 20% urethane (6 mL x kg(-1)) were evenly randomized into control group, positive control group, low-dose and high-dose Tiaomaiyin group. The rate of ventricular fibrillation (VF) chloroform-induced in mice, and the epoch of ventricular extrasystole (VE), ventricular tachycardia (VT),VF and cardiac arrest (CA), actonitine-induced in rats (1.0 microg x mL(-1) x min(-1)), and vabain-induced in guinea pigs (10 microg x mL(-1) x min(-1)), were detected respectively. The result loas converted into cumulative dosage of actonitine or vabain. In ischemia-reperfusion model in rats, the duration of arrhythmia and activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were detected.
RESULTAfter venous injection of Tiaomaiyin, VF in mice was lower significantly (P < 0.01), VE, VT, VF in rats and VF in guinea pigs were lowered considerably (P <0.05). The duration of arrhythmia in ischemia-reperfusion model was reduced considerably (P < 0.05), and the activity of myocardial SOD was raised significantly (P <0.01).
CONCLUSIONTiaomaiyin shows the reduction of experimental arrhythmia and protect effect to ischemia-reperfusion injury of the heart, which indicates that the effect mechanism may have the relationship with inhabition of lipid peroxidation and damnification of the free radical.

OBJECTIVETo establish three-dimensional culture model of human dental mesenchymal cells and bioengineer in vivo with ceramic bovine bone (CBB) and Collagraft as scaffolds.
METHODSHuman dental mesenchymal cells induced upon stimulation of bFGF and IGF-1 or TGF-beta(1) were implanted onto CBB and Collagraft containing the same kinds of growth factors respectively. Then cell/scaffold constructs were transplanted into nude mice to establish in vivo culture model of dental mesenchymal cells. Control groups were set up at the same time. After 4 weeks or 10 weeks, the implants were taken out for histological and immunohistochemical analysis.
RESULTSWithin 10-week implant tissues, typical dentin-pulp complex-like structures were generated in scaffolds containing growth factors. Human dentin sialoprotein (DSP) was expressed in the newly formed dentin. This phenomenon wasn't observed in control groups and 4-week implants.
CONCLUSIONSDentin-pulp complex-like structures could be bioengineered successfully with human dental mesenchymal cells and CBB or Collagrafts containing growth factors in nude mice.
