Objective Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) is a rare malignant small round cell tumor .This paper aimed to study the clinical and pathological features of primary pulmonary primitive neuroectodermal tumor . Methods We collected 2 cases of primary pulmonary PNET to review the clinical and pathological features .Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect immune mark-ers, and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was applied to detect EWS translocation. Results 2 patients were aged 33 years and 17 years.Microscopically, the tumor cell was composed of single small round cells in diffusion or in distribution of sheets or beams , with scant cytoplasm , oval or spindle-shaped nucleus , high mitotic count .Irregular tumor necrosis scattered in the tumor along with visi-ble rosette structure.Immunohistochemical study showed that the tumor cells were positive for CD 99, FLI-1 and Syn, while CKpan, EMA, Desmin, CgA, TTF1, CD34 were negative.EWS/FLI1 translocations were detected positive in both the cases .2 patients died 7 months and 32 months after operation , respectively . Conclusion Primary pulmonary PNET is rare , so the selection of appropriate im-mune markers (CD99, FLI-1, Syn) and FISH for the detection of EWS translocation helps to improve the accuracy of diagnosis .

The metabolic profiles of control and MCF-7 cells treated with luteolin were analyzed separately using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry ( GC/MS ) to study the mechanism of the luteolin treatment on MCF-7 cells. Cell viability assays showed that luteolin had inhibition effect on MCF-7 cells. Partial least square discriminant analysis ( OPLS-DA) was used to process the metabolic data. Since cells in phase of S were increased significantly, we speculated that luteolin had a blocking effect on pentose phosphate pathway of MCF-7 cells, which contributed to its inhibition effect on proliferation of MCF-7 cells.

Objective To investigate the CT imaging characteristics of primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the liver. Methods The CT, clinical and histopathologic data of 6 patients with MFH were analyzed retrospectively. All the cases were confirmed by surgery and histopathological examinations. Results The tumors were located in the right liver in 4 patients and the left liver in 2 patients. The maximum diameter of the tumors ranged from 5 to 20 cm.All the tumors were unevenly hypodense on plain CT scan.Four tumors had relatively well-defined margins, while 2 tumors had ill-defined margins. After contrast enhancement, the peripheral and internal divisions of the three storiform-pleomorptic MFH showed progressive enhancement. The peripheral and internal divisions of the two inflammatory MFH were obviously enhanced in the arterial phase, and the enhancement decreased in the portal and delayed phases. The hypodense areas of the one myxiod MFH were not enhanced, but the internal floc and divisions were progressive enhanced. On gross pathology, the tumors were round or irregular in shape, most had a complete capsule with multiple surrounding vessels. These findings correlated well with the CT findings. Conclusions CT findings of primary Hepatic MFH have some characteristics. The enhancement pattern is manifested in a fast wash-in and slow wash-out pattern. However, the final diagnosis still relies on histopathological examination.

OBJECTIVETo compare the clinical effects between hip anterior S-P approach combined with iliac bone flap transplantation with deep circumflex iliac artery and posterior K-L approach combined with quadratus femoris bone flap transplantation for the treatment of femoral neck fracture of Garden III-IV in young and middle-aged patients.
METHODSFrom January 2004 to January 2011,46 patients with femoral neck fractures were treated by two kinds of operation. Among them, 20 cases were treated with anterior S-P approach combined with iliac bone flap transplantation with deep circumflex iliac artery, included 12 males and 8 females with an average age of (32.1 ± 7.3) years old, involved 12 cases of Garden III and 8 cases of Garden IV. The other 26 cases were treated with posterior K-L approach combined with quadratus femoris bone flap transplantation, included 20 males and 6 females with an average age of (37.8 ± 6.9) years old, involved 16 cases of Garden III and 10 cases of Garden IV. The index of hospitalization (hospitalization time, total cost, operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative complications), the quality index of operation (fracture reduction, position of internal fixation, fracture healing time, nonunion and femoral head necrosis) of two groups were observed and compared. Hip joint function were evaluated by Harris score.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 28 to 41 months with an average of 36 months. The intraoperative blood loss of group S-P (92.3 ± 10.4) ml was less than that of group K-L (132.4 ± 11.2) ml, there was significant difference between two groups (P < 0.05). The operation time of group S-P (81.4 ± 9.2) min was more than that of group K-L (67.1 ± 4.5) min, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). One case in group S-P and 9 cases in group K-L appeared postoperative complications, there was significant difference between two groups (P < 0.05). The fracture healing time of S-P group (83.5 ± 7.3) d was shorter than that of group K-L (103.2 ± 12.6) d, there was significant difference between two groups (P < 0.05). At 30 months after operation, there were significant difference in Harris scoring between two groups (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONAnterior S-P approach combined with iliac bone flap transplantation with deep circumflex iliac artery for treatment of femoral neck fracture of Garden III-IV of young and middle-aged patients, it has characteristics in clear anatomic and easy to operate. As compared with K-L approach, S-P approach can better reserve residual blood supply of femoral neck. While combining with the iliac bone flap transplantation with deep circumflex iliac artery, it could better reconstruct the blood supply of femoral neck to promote fracture healing.
